Abstract: A fuel injector (10), said fuel injector (10) comprising at least: an injector body (14) comprising a first end (14a) and a second end (14b); a nozzle (12) fitted to said first end 10 (14b) of said injector body 14, said nozzle (12) comprising at least a nozzle body (12a), said nozzle body (12a) comprising a fuel inlet passage (16) and a central passage (18). The fuel injector is characterized such that the central passage (18) comprises at least two slits (20a and 20b) provided along a part of the length of said central passage (18), as seen in figure 2a and 2b. The at least two slits (20a, 20b) are located on the internal surface of the 15 central passage (18) such that the slits are away from the surface of the nozzle body (12a) which receives the fuel inlet passage (16)

Specification

Claims:1. A nozzle (12) for a fuel injector (10), said nozzle (12) comprising at least a nozzle
body (12a), said nozzle body (12a) comprising a fuel inlet passage (16) and a central
5 passage (18);
Characterized in that said central passage (18) comprising at least two slits (20a and
20b) provided along a part of the length of said central passage (18).
2. The nozzle (12) as claimed in claim 1, wherein said two slit (20a) and (20b) are
10 diametrically opposite each other.
3. The nozzle (12) as claimed in claim 1, wherein said central passage (18) has three
slits (20a, 20b and 20c).
4. The nozzle (12) as claimed in claim 3, wherein said three slits (20a), (20b) and
(20c) are located 90 degree apart from each other.
15 5. The nozzle (12) as claimed in claim 3, wherein said three slits (20a), (20b) and
(20c) are located 120 degrees apart from each other.
6. The nozzle (10) as claimed in claim 1, wherein said at least two slits (20a, 20b) are
located on the internal surface of the central passage (18) such that the slits are
away from the surface of the nozzle body (12a) which receives the fuel inlet passage
20 (16)
7. A fuel injector (10), said fuel injector (10) comprising at least:
- an injector body (14) comprising a first end (14a) and a second end (14b);
- a nozzle (12) fitted to said first end (14b) of said injector body 14, said nozzle
(12) comprising at least a nozzle body (12a), said nozzle body (12a) comprising
25 a fuel inlet passage (16) and a central passage (18);
characterized in that said central passage (18) comprising at least two slits (20a and
20b) provided along a part of the length of said central passage (18).
8. The fuel injector as claimed in claim 1, wherein said at least two slits (20a, 20b) are
30 located on the internal surface of the central passage (18) such that the slits are
away from the surface of the nozzle body (12a) which receives the fuel inlet passage
