, Description:Complete Specification:
The following specification describes and ascertains the nature of this invention and the manner in which it is to be performed.
Field of the invention
[0001] This invention relates to a nozzle (105) for a fuel injector (100) and a fuel injector (105) thereof.

Background of the invention
[0002] Figure 1 is a representative illustration of a fuel injector (100) known in the state of the art. A person skilled in art would be aware that many version of fuel injectors are already known. However, some basic components in a fuel injector are always present. Among other basic components of any fuel injector (100) known in the state of the art, the nozzle module components (105) is one of them. With regard to this disclosure we will specifically focus on the nozzle module components (105). The nozzle module components (105) mainly comprise two main components the nozzle body (110) and the nozzle needle (115).

[0003]During construction of the fuel injector (100) the nozzle needle (115) is located in the central passage of the nozzle body (110). When the nozzle needle (115) is located in the central passage of the nozzle body (110), it serves as a pathway for fuel and allows spraying a mixture of fuel and air. This flow of fuel can lead to lateral load at nozzle needle (115) leading to one sided wear at top portion of nozzle body (110) region leading to one sided wear/rubbing marks at the nozzle body (110) region. This is due to bigger interaction between nozzle body (110) and nozzle needle (115) which affects fuel injector (100) to experience high fuel back leak quantity.

[0004] Due to nozzle body (105) wear, fuel back leak quantity the fuel back pressure will increase and contribute to an increased fuel tank temperature. This can consequently affect performance of the fuel injector (100) and lead to wear and tear of components.

Brief description of the accompanying drawings

[0005] Figure 1 is a representative illustration of a fuel injector (100) known in the state of the art;
[0006] Figure 2 illustrates a nozzle (105) in accordance with this disclosure

Detailed description of the invention

[0008] Figure 2 illustrates a nozzle (105) in accordance with this disclosure. The nozzle (105) is for a fuel injector (100). The nozzle (105) comprises at least a nozzle body (110) and a nozzle needle (200). The nozzle needle (200) is utilized for uniformly spraying fuel in highly atomized or mist form. The nozzle needle (200) is enclosed in the nozzle body (110). In its regular assembly position, the nozzle needle (200) will have a first part (200a) located at one end of the nozzle body (110), which is in proximity to the opening (120) of the fuel injector (100) and a second part (200b) of the nozzle needle (200) located away from the opening (120) of the fuel injector (100) and which consequently lies on top of the said first part (200a).

[0009] The nozzle needle (200) has a geometry such that cross sectional area of the first part (200a) of the nozzle needle (200) is greater that the cross sectional area of the second part (200b) of the nozzle needle (200).

[0010] The cross sectional area of the second part (200b) of the nozzle needle (200) is reduced as compared to the cross sectional area of the first part (200a) of the nozzle needle (200) by reducing the diameter of the second part (200b) of the nozzle needle (200).

[0011] In another embodiment of the invention, the diameter of the second part (200b) of the nozzle needle (200) can be reduced by making the geometry of the second part (200b) of the nozzle needle (200) tapering.

[0012] In accordance with another aspect of this disclosure there is also provided a fuel injector (100). The fuel injector (100) comprising at least: a nozzle (105). The nozzle (105) comprises at least a nozzle body (110) and a nozzle needle (200).

[0013] The fuel injector comprises a nozzle (105) comprising a nozzle body (110) and a nozzle needle (200), wherein the nozzle needle (200) has a geometry such that cross sectional area of the first part (200a) of the nozzle needle (200) is greater that the cross sectional area of the second part (200b) of the nozzle needle (200).

[0014] In said nozzle needle (200) of said fuel injector (100), the cross sectional area of the second part (200b) of the nozzle needle (200) is reduced as compared to the cross sectional area of the first part (200a) of the nozzle needle (200) by reducing the diameter of the second part (200b) of the nozzle needle (200).

[0015] In another embodiment of the invention, for the nozzle needle(200) of said fuel injector (100), the diameter of the second part (200b) of the nozzle needle (200) can be reduced by making the geometry of the second part (200b) of the nozzle needle (200) tapering.

[0016] It must be understood that the embodiments explained above are only illustrative and do not limit the scope of the disclosure. Many modifications in the embodiments with regard to specific shape and geometry of the nozzle needle in the nozzle are envisaged and form a part of this invention. The scope of the invention is only limited by the claims.
