PREAMBLE TO THE DESCRIPTION
The following specification describes the invention.

FIELD OF INVENTION
This invention relates to brake system used in vehicles and more particularly this is related to the parking brake cable mounting (routing) of parking brake system of an automobile.
BACKGROUND OF INVENTION
Parking brakes are generally provided in vehicle to hold in gradients and to provide an
emergency braking if required. It is also one of the regulatory requirements of a vehicle.
First end of parking brake cable is assembled with hand brake lever and second end
goes towards brake rear brake assembly.
Particularly parking brake cables are used to transmit the mechanical force from hand
brake lever to Rear brake assembly.
Routing of these parking brake cables is done through its outer sleeve by holding
clamps or fixed type of clamps on suspension member or chassis member of the
vehicle.
Function of these clamps is to hold the parking brake cable for the life time in specific
routing as per requirement.
In conventional parking brake system, the parking brake cable clamps are fixed or loose
type (for e.g. crimped clamps), which needs to be bolted on chassis member or
suspension member & it needs additional weld nut on chassis member or suspension
member (also extra bolting operation is involved during assembly of cable). Some times
instead of bolting, welded clamps are used on either chassis member or suspension
member of the vehicle.
One more disadvantage of it is additional crimping operation is required during parking
brake cable manufacturing due to presence of crimping clamp.
2

Function of end connector is to assemble Parking brake cable outer sleeve with anchor
plate of brake assembly at second end.
Also in case of conventional parking brake system, brake cable end connector at second
end is assembled with anchor plate by U clip. For this groove on the parking brake
cable outer sleeve at end & an additional tube extended from anchor plate is required, to
accommodate cable inside it and slot on its periphery is also needed to locate U clip.
Because of this type of assembly, extra component such as U clip is required during
assembly and additional tube is present on the anchor plate. This leads to handling of
more number of components during assembly, hence more time.
One more disadvantage of this kind of end connection is that extra grooving operation
on the cable second end is required.
OBJECTS OF INVENTION
> The main object of this invention is flexibly secure the parking brake cable outer sleeve which assists the natural route of cable by guiding and no rigid fixing is involved.
> Yet another object is to secure the parking brake cable outer sleeve under the lateral load acting due to its bends a per routing.
> Yet another object of this invention to avoid crimping clamp on the periphery of parking brake cable outer sleeve.
> Yet another object is snap fit end connection for anchor plate of rear brake assembly and second end of parking brake cable for ease in fitment.
> Yet another object of this invention is to meet the requirement of production i.e. simple in construction, less time consuming, less weight, ease for fitment there fore easy for mass production and cost effective.
3

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
Parking brake cable outer sleeve mounting method for a vehicle in accordance with this invention basically comprises of a plastic rivet fixing clamp which is fitted on the hole of suspension member of the vehicle and through this clamp cable is routed towards the rear brake assembly. The cable is flexibly secured by guiding through this clamp. The clamp comprises of the locking member. Clamp mounting surface is flat which sits on the flat surface of suspension member through a locking arrangement. Then parking brake cable outer sleeve is mounted and guided inside the clamp. Another object of this invention is that the clamp fitment is also possible in case of the burr coming inside the hole to a certain defined depth and deburring operation for suspension member can be avoided, if burr is with in acceptable limit. The second end of the parking cable is locked with the anchor plate of brake assembly, by plastic snap fit end connection consists of male connector element, and female connector element. Male connector element is fixed on outer sleeve of parking brake cable. The male connector element is snap fitted to the female connector element to hold the parking brake cable with rear anchor plate assembly. The Snap fit end connection enables the use of hole in the anchor plate with out any additional part.
