Specification

This invention relates to a portable cableway for point to point conveyance of goods. An object of this invention is to propose a portable cableway to minimize the employment of labour which can otherwise be gainfully employed for other purposes necessitating use for manual tasks.

Another object of this invention is to propose a portable cableway as aforesaid which is capable of easy assembly on site and as easy disassembly for use in different locations of the user's choice.

Yet another object of this invention is to propose a cableway which is simple in its construction, yet effective in use, capable of operation by even unskilled persons needing little instruction for its use.

Among various uses, the cableway is of considerable use in agricultural and horticultural activities, for conveying produce from the fields, orchards and the like to places of further transport to points of distribution and sale.

Such of the other advantages of this invention as have not been expressly set out herein will be apparent from the further description thereof given hereunder.

The portable cable way for point to point conveyance of goods, according to this invention, comprises a plurality of spaced supports, each such support having a pair of frames inclined towards each other and fastened at their top, the said frames resting on the ground; a top cable passing at the top of the supports and fixed at its ends, on which a plurality of trolleys loaded with goods run in one direction for conveyance of the said goods; a bottom cable passing at the bottom of the supports and fixed at its ends, on which the said trolleys, after delivery of the goods, run in the other direction for receiving a fresh supply of goods; a recirculating rope for pulling the loaded trolleys on the top cable and the unloaded trolleys on the bottom cable, said rope being driven by a prime mover.

This invention will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawings which illustrate, by way of example, and not by way of limitation, a preferred embodiment of this invention, wherein,

Fig. 1 illustrates a general assembly of the cableway

Fig. 2 illustrates a view of an intermediate frame

Fig3. illustrates a trapezium frame

Fig. 4 illustrates trapezium two frames inclined towards each other and coupled by a clamp and held apart by tie-rods to form a support

In the drawings the following numerals indicate corresponding parts:

1. Pair of frames inclined towards each other

2. Clamp for frames being fastened at their top

3. Ground on which the frames rest

4. Top cable passing over the top of the supports

5. Trolleys

6. Loaded trolley

7.Unloaded trolley (empty)

8. Sling attached to a trolley for carrying the load

9. Load

10. Bottom cable passing at the bottom of the supports

11. Recirculating rope

12. Pulleys around which the rope runs

13. Corrugated winch drum driven by the prime mover

14. Top of a frame

15. Base of the frame

16. Chain pulley block for tightening top cable 17.Turnbuckle for lower cable 18. Tie-rods

The embodiment has spaced supports, each such support having a pair of trapezium shaped frames inclined towards each other and fastened at their top by clamps. The bottom is held apart by tie-rods. The frames rest on the ground. A top cable passes over the top of the supports and fixed at its ends in the ground. On the top cable a plurality of trolleys loaded with goods run in one direction for conveyance of the said goods. A bottom cable passes at the bottom of the supports and is fixed at its ends to the ground. On this cable the said trolleys, after delivery of the goods, run in the opposite direction for receiving a fresh supply of goods. A recirculating rope is provided for pulling the loaded trolleys on the top cable and the unloaded trolleys on the bottom cable. This rope is driven by a prime mover, such as, an electric motor. The arrangement is such that, during operation, when the top portion of the rope moves in one direction with the loaded trolleys, the bottom portion of the rope moves in the other direction with the unloaded trolleys for receiving a fresh supply, if any, of load to be conveyed.

The pair of frames are inclined towards each other and fastened to each other at the top to form a stable structure. Each frame has a trapezoidal configuration, the top being narrower than its base.

The rope is wrapped around a corrugated winch drum driven by the said prime mover for moving the rope around. A chain pulley block is provided for tightening the top cable to large values of cable tension and a turnbuckle for the lower cable for smaller tensions.

The load is carried on the trolleys by any convenient means, such as a sling.

It will be appreciated that various other embodiments of the portable cableway are possible without departing from the scope and ambit of this invention.

We Claim

1.. A portable cable way for point to point conveyance of goods comprising a plurality of spaced supports, each such support having a pair of frames inclined towards each other and fastened at their top, the said frames resting on the ground; a top cable passing at the top of the supports and fixed at its ends, on which a plurality of trolleys loaded with goods run in one direction for conveyance of the said goods; a bottom cable passing at the bottom of the supports and fixed at its ends, on which the said trolleys, after delivery of the goods, run in the other direction for receiving a fresh supply of goods; a recirculating rope for pulling the loaded trolleys on the top cable and the unloaded trolleys on the bottom cable, said rope being driven by a prime mover.

2. A portable cable way as claimed in Claim 1 wherein the pair of frames are inclined towards each other and fastened to each other at the top.

3.A portable cable way as claimed in Claim 1 or Claim 2 wherein a frame is trapezoidal in configuration, its top being narrower than its base.

4. A portable cableway as claimed in any one of the preceding Claims wherein the rope is wound on a corrugated winch drum driven by the said prime mover

5. A portable cableway as claimed in any one of the preceding Claims wherein a chain pulley block and a turnbuckle are provided respectively for the top and bottom cables.

5. A portable cable way for point to point conveyance of goods substantially as herein described with reference to, and as illustrated by, the accompanying drawings.
