FIELD OF INVENTION
The present invention relates to a portable device for chamfering holes of
support tube plates for condenser.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
In the existing state of arts, the main and the support tube plates form part of
the tube system of the condenser tube plates which are vertically fixed inside the
condenser outer cell. The main tube plates are at the extreme ends and the
support tube plates are disposed in between at regular interval. The main and
the support tube plates are provided with a large number of holes to which tubes
are fitted to form cooling water path for condensing steam. The packets are
formed drilling of hole to save time and also to get holes in the same axis. The
holes into plates are finished by a reaming process and then each hole is
chamfered from either side of plate to remove any sharp edge to avoid damage
of tube during insertion or during operation. The chamfering operation on these
holes is performed by a radial drilling machine by means of a radius chamfering
tool.
The problems are experienced in performing such chamfering the holes of the
tube plates are as follows:
1. Chamfering operation on both sides of the tube plate requires a number
of settings on the radial drilling machine.
2. The crane and the material handling staffs are required at each time for a
fresh setting of tube plate.
3. The process is not safe enough because of waiting for fresh setting.
4. The operators loose energy due to a large number of brake applications
during operation for want of resetting of tube plates.
OBJECTS OF THE INVENTION
It is therefore an object of the present invention to propose a portable device for
chamfering holes of the support tube plates for condenser which eliminates the
disadvantages of the state of art.
Another object of the present invention is to propose a portable device for
chamfering holes of the support tube plates for condenser which reduces the
total operation time.
A further object of the present invention is to propose a portable device for
chamfering holes of the support tube plates for condenser which increases the
productivity.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
The present invention is provided with a portable device made of a steel
structure for chamfering holes of the support tube plate for condenser. First of
all the chamfering device is placed on the tube plate on which the chamfering is
to be done. Setting the position of the hole to be chamfered by moving the
device manually on rolling wheel. Setting up the radius chamfering tool in the
tool holder.
The cross rail of the device is brought parallel to the rows to start chamfering
operation. The drill is pressed down on the hole with the help of vertical slide
actuating handle to cut chamfer on the hole. This movement is repeated in each
time when a new hole is chamfered along the X-axis or Y-axis movement.
Completing all the chamfering operation of the holes one by one in X-axis
direction the device is passed on the next line of holes according to Y-axis and
start chamfering operation of second row of holes and like that. All the holes on
one side of the plate are chamfered by changing the position of the device
manually. Thereafter the plate is turned over and the device placed over it again
to continue chamfering operation along X-axis and Y-axis to complete
chamfering operation in all the holes of the plate.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF A PREFERRED EMBODIMENT OF THE
INVENTION
The portable device is made of a steel structure (1) having a square shaped base
frame with four roller wheels (11) attached at the bottom and having two vertical
column structures at two opposite sides of the square base with one adjustment
bolt (8) on the top of each column structure. A cross rail (2) is interconnected
between the two columns which helps to slide the drill machine (5) horizontally.
A portable hand drilling machine (5) is mounted on a steel structure which slides
over the cross rail (2). The structure is provided with a fixed handle (10) and a
movable handle (9) which press the drilling machine in up and down direction.
The structure is also provided a tension spring (7) for automatic reversal of a
vertical slide (4).
The portable drilling machine is provided an electrical cable (12) for electrical
connection from a source and a drill tool holder (6) at one end.
For chamfering of holes on one face of a plate, the device (1) is placed on the
plate and a tool is mounted on the tool holder (6) of drill machine (5). Power is
switched on through an electrical cable (12). By pushing the movable handle (9)
downward, the chamfering is done on a hole. For chamfering the next hole either
X-axis wise or Y-axis wise, the device is moved forward or sideward with the help
of fixed handle (10) and placed the device according to the position of the holes.
On completion of all the chamfering of holes in one side of the plate, the plate is
turned over and the device is placed on the position of the hole and start
chamfering as stated above.
