finger can be scanned again. And, captured fingerprint can be printed easily, by connecting
the device with printer through Bluetooth.
20 [0039] In an embodiment of the present invention, the scanned image of the
fingerprint is processed by a processing unit, afterwards it is transmitted to printer or other
device through Bluetooth.
[0040] As illustrated in Fig. 2 is the flowchart for processing unit of the portable
fingerprint capturing device of the present invention. The processing of image comprises the
25 following steps: i) grayscale transformation of image, ii) normalization of image, iii) first
segmentation of image, iv) directional mapping of image, v) second segmentation of image
and vi) filtering of image.
[0041] In another aspect, the present invention relates to a method of capturing
fingerprint using a portable fingerprint capturing device comprising the steps of:
30 (a) scanning surface of materials and previewing the fingerprint image in a display
unit;
(b) processing the image in a processing unit to obtain high quality image; and
(c) transforming the high quality image through wireless communication to external
printer to print the image.
8
[0042] In another embodiment of the present invention, Fig. 3 illustrates the flowchart
for working of the portable fingerprint capturing device. The working/method of capturing
the fingerprint includes a) scanning the surface using ultraviolet rays; b) previewing the
scanned image of fingerprints; c) capturing the image of fingerprints; d) filtering the image of
5 captured fingerprints to obtain high quality fingerprints; d) connecting the device with
external printer through Bluetooth to print the high quality fingerprints.
[0043] In an embodiment of the present invention, the fingerprints on surface of the
materials are captured quickly and efficiently by portable fingerprint capturing device thereby
very useful for forensic experts and policemen to identify the fingerprints in efficient manner.
10 [0044] It should be apparent to those skilled in the art that many more modifications
besides those already described are possible without departing from the inventive concepts
herein. The inventive subject matter, therefore, is not to be restricted except in the spirit of
the appended claims. Moreover, in interpreting both the specification and the claims, all
terms should be interpreted in the broadest possible manner consistent with the context. In
15 particular, the terms “comprises” and “comprising” should be interpreted as referring to
elements, components, or steps in a non-exclusive manner, indicating that the referenced
elements, components, or steps may be present, or utilized, or combined with other elements,
components, or steps that are not expressly referenced. Where the specification claims refer
to at least one of something selected from the group consisting of A, B, C …. And N, the text
20 should be interpreted as requiring only one element from the group, not A plus N, or B plus
N, etc.
[0045] While the foregoing describes various embodiments of the invention, other
and further embodiments of the invention may be devised without departing from the basic
scope thereof. The scope of the invention is determined by the claims that follow. The
25 invention is not limited to the described embodiments, versions or examples, which are
included to enable a person having ordinary skill in the art to make and use the invention
