Description:Field of the Invention
[0001] The present invention relates to a drilling machine. More particularly, the present invention relates to a portable magnetic drilling machine.
Background of the Invention
[0002] Generally, in magnetic drilling machines, the drill bit assembly is directly connected to a pillar of the drilling machine for sliding thereon. The sliding of the drill bit assembly on the pillar connection is through a rack and pinion mechanism. Due to the drilling vibrations, the drill bit assembly may lose the connection with the pillar of the drilling machine which needs to be fixed properly for sliding. Also, the repetitive fixing of the drill bit assembly after every drill increases the maintenance cost of the drilling machine.
[0003] Further, the continuous adjusting of the drill bit assembly on the pillar may lead to the breaking of the drill.
[0004] Therefore, there is a need for a magnetic drilling machine, which can overcome the problems of the prior art.
Objects of the Invention
[0005] An object of the present invention is to provide a portable magnetic drilling machine.
[0006] Another object of the present invention is a portable magnetic drilling machine having reduced drilling vibrations.
[0007] Further one object of the present invention is to provide a portable magnetic drilling machine, which has less maintenance.
[0008] One more object of the present invention is to provide a portable magnetic drilling machine which is simple and robust in construction.
Summary of the invention
[0009] According to the present invention, there is provided portable magnetic drilling machine. The portable magnetic drilling machine is having a base and a pillar. The pillar is vertically extended from the base. Also, the portable magnetic drilling machine is having an at least one pipe which is connected to the pillar on a side of the pillar. In another embodiment, the pipe is a solid guide rod. The cross-section shape of the pipe is a circle or a square or a rectangle. The drill bit assembly is slidably arranged with the pipe thereon. The drill bit assembly is movable from a first position to a second position. Further, the drill bit assembly is having a slider. The slider encircles the pipe, thereby enabling the sliding movement of the drill bit assembly with the pipe.
[0010] Furthermore, the portable magnetic drilling machine is having an anchoring mechanism. [0020] The disclosed embodiments are merely exemplary of the invention, which may be embodied in various forms.
[0021] The present invention provides a portable magnetic drilling machine. The portable magnetic drilling machine has reduced drilling vibrations. Also, the portable magnetic drilling machine has less maintenance cost. Further, the portable magnetic drilling machine is simple and robust in construction.
[0022] Referring now to figures 1 and 3, a portable magnetic drilling machine (100) in accordance with the present invention is illustrated. The portable magnetic drilling machine (100) is having a base (10) and a pillar (20). The pillar (20) is vertically extended from the base (10). The portable magnetic drilling machine (100) hereinafter referred to as “The machine (100)”. The machine (100) is having at least one pipe connected to the pillar (20) on a side of the pillar (20). Also, a pipe (30) is extended vertically upward from the base (10). The pipe (30) is connected parallelly with the pillar (20). In the present embodiment, two pipes (30) are connected to the pillar (20) (as shown in figures 1 and 3).
[0023] Specifically, in the present embodiment, a first pipe (30a) is connected to one pillar (20a) (as shown in figures 1 and 2) and a second pipe (30b) is connected to another pillar (20b) (as shown in figure 2). The machine (100) is provided with a handle (56) (shown in figures1 and 3). In the present embodiment, the handle (56) is having three-blades (56a, 56b and 56c). Also, the handle (56) has a centre (56d). The three blades (56a, 56b and 56c) are connected to the centre of the handle (56). The handle (56) is used to regulate the pressure required for the drilling. The cross-sectional shape of the pipe (30) is a circle (as shown in figure 2). In another embodiment, the pipe (30) is a solid guide rod. But it may be obvious to a person skilled the art to construct a pipe (30) of any shape and size such as a square, rectangle and the like.
[0024] A drill bit assembly (40) of the machine (100) is slidably arranged to the pipe (30) for sliding thereon. The drill bit assembly (40) is movable from a first position (42a) to a second position. Wherein, the first position is an upper position and the second position is a lower position. In the present embodiment, the first position (42a) is an unused position of the drill bit assembly (40), and the second position (42b) is a used position of the drill bit assembly (40) (not shown in figures). Specifically, the used position of the drill bit assembly (40) is the drilling position of the drill bit assembly (40). Also, the drill bit assembly (40) is having a slider (42). The slider (42) encircles the pipe (30), thereby enabling the sliding movement of the drill bit assembly (40) with the pipe (30) (as shown in figure 1). Specifically, in the present embodiment, one slider (42) encircles the pipe (30) for sliding thereon. But it may be obvious to a person skilled in the art to use more than one slider (42) for encircling the pipe (30). In the present embodiment, the slider (42) is arranged in the mid- part of the drill bit assembly (40) (as shown in figure 1). It may be obvious to a person skilled in the art to arrange the slider (42) in any part of the drill bit assembly (40).
[0025] Referring now to figures 4a and 4b, an anchoring mechanism (50) for anchoring the drill bit assembly (40) in accordance with the present invention is illustrated. The machine (100) includes the anchoring mechanism (50). The anchoring mechanism (50) is having a rack and a pinion arrangement (not shown). The rack is vertically extending from the base (10) and the pinion is rotatably connected to the rack. The pinion meshes with the rack. Upon operating the pinion in one direction, the rotation of the pinion is restricted to anchor the drill bit assembly (40) at a position between the first position (42a) and the second position (42b).
[0026] Specifically, in the present embodiment, the restriction of the pinion restricts the sliding of the rack, thereby anchoring the drill bit assembly (40) at a position between the first position (42a) and the second position (42b) with the pillar (20), hence restricting the sliding movement of the drill bit assembly (40) thereon. In the present embodiment, the anchoring force applied by the pinion is greater than the force of gravity to avoid the free fall of the slider (42).
[0027] Further, upon operating the pinion in other direction, the rotation of the pinion is released to un-anchor the drill bit assembly (40) to enable the sliding movement of the drill bit assembly (40) between the first positions (42a) to the second position (42b). Specifically, in the present embodiment, releasing the pinion in the other direction enables the sliding of the rack, thereby un-anchoring the drill bit assembly (40) to slide between a first position (42a) to a second position (42b) from the pillar (20) and hence enabling the sliding movement of the drill bit assembly (40) thereon.
[0028] In an alternate embodiment, the anchoring mechanism (50) is having a grub screw (54) (any fastener adapted to hold an article with a frictional grip) to anchor the drill bit assembly (40) at a position between the first position (42a) and the second position (42b) (as shown in figure 4a and 4b). The grub screw has a tip (54a). Upon operating the grub screw (54) in one direction, the tip (54a) of the grub screw (54) is anchored with the pipe (30) (as shown in figure 4a), thereby anchoring the drill bit assembly (40) at a position between the first position (42a) and the second position (42b), hence restricting the sliding movement of the drill bit assembly (40) thereon. In the present embodiment, the anchoring force applied by the grub screw (54) is greater than the force of gravity to avoid the free fall of the slider (42).
[0029] Furthermore, upon operating the grub screw (54), the tip (54a) of the grub screw (54) is un-anchored (as shown in figure 4b) thereby un-anchoring the drill bit assembly (40) to slide between a first position (42a) to a second position (42b) and hence enabling the sliding movement of the drill bit assembly (40) thereon.
[0030] Therefore, the present invention provides an advantage of a portable magnetic drilling machine (100). The portable magnetic drilling machine (100) has reduced drilling vibrations. Also, the portable magnetic drilling machine (100) has less maintenance cost. Further, the portable magnetic drilling machine (100) is simple and robust in construction.
[0031] The foregoing descriptions of specific embodiments of the present invention have been presented for purposes of illustration and description. They are not intended to be exhaustive or to limit the present invention to the precise forms disclosed, and obviously, many modifications and variations are possible considering the above teaching. The embodiments were chosen and described to best explain the principles of the present invention and its practical application, to thereby enable others skilled in the art to best utilize the present invention and various embodiments with various modifications as are suited to the use contemplated. It is understood that various omission and substitutions of equivalents are contemplated as circumstances may suggest or render expedient, but such are intended to cover the application or implementation without departing from the spirit or scope of the description of the present invention.
