PREAMBLE TO THE DESCRIPTION:
The following specification particularly describes the invention and the manner in which it is to be performed:
FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a water level measuring tool. More particularly, the present invention pertains to a portable tool for measuring water level, that is used to measure the depth of water on a runway for reporting the water level status in Global Reporting Format before take-off or landing of the aircraft for aviation safety reasons, reducing the risk of accidents and ensuring efficient airport operations.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
Airports play a crucial role in facilitating seamless air transportation, providing essential infrastructure and services for passengers, cargo, and aircraft. Efficient airport operations ensure smooth and timely departures and arrivals, enabling people and goods to reach their destinations safely and on schedule.
Accidents due to water collection on the runway cause significant impacts on travel, logistics, and overall airport functionality. Water on the runway surface reduces the friction between the tires of an aircraft and the runway. This results in decreased braking effectiveness and reduced traction during takeoff and landing, increasing the risk of skidding or hydroplaning. In cold weather conditions, standing water on the runway can freeze, forming patches of ice that pose a significant hazard to aircraft operations. Ice accumulation on the runway surface reduces traction and increases the likelihood of aircraft skidding or sliding during takeoff, landing, or taxiing.
Also, the jet engines are susceptible to ingesting water when operating on wet or flooded runways. This can cause engine surges or flameouts, compromising engine performance and potentially leading to catastrophic engine failure.
For these reasons, airports employ regular runway inspections to mitigate the effects of water accumulation on runways and comply with establishing runway friction coefficient standards.
CN207248282U discloses a kind of water-level instrumentation of the utility model includes level detecting device, survey line and suggestion device, the level detecting device upper end is tightly connected with the survey line, the level detecting device bag external conductive casing and the conductive probe being arranged in the external conductive casing, the external conductive casing upper end is provided with incoming line, bottom is provided with water inlet, middle part is provided with gas outlet, is connected between the conductive probe and the external conductive casing by insulating materials. Described survey line one end is arranged in external conductive casing through incoming line, and the survey line includes the first conducting wire and the second conducting wire, and described first conducting wire one end is electrically connected with the metal shell, and the other end is electrically connected with the suggestion device. Second conducting wire is electrically connected with the conductive probe, and the other end is electrically connected with the suggestion device. Water enters in shell after level detecting device touches water, turns on conductive probe and external conductive casing, and transmitting suggestion device by survey line can prompt in time, so that convenient and accurate real-time testing water level.
US3986110A discloses a device for use in determining the depth of water accumulating on the surface of a pathway, such as an airport runway or the like. A block of electrically insulative material is embedded in a pathway with the top surface of the block being substantially flush with the pathway surface and exposed to atmospheric precipitation. A sensor comprising first and second capacitors, each of which has first and second coplanar spaced apart electrodes, is positioned within the block with the electrodes of the first capacitor positioned adjacent to and inclined with respect to the top surface of the block and with the electrodes of the second capacitor being positioned a substantially greater distance from the top surface of the block whereby an accumulation of water on the surface of the block affects the dielectric, capacitance and conductance of the first capacitor without substantially affecting the dielectric, capacitance and conductance of the second. Time-varying out-of-phase electrical signals are applied to the first electrodes of the capacitors as the input to the sensor. An output circuit commonly connected to the second electrodes of the aforesaid capacitors supplies an electrical output signal relative to electrical ground from the sensor. At least one electrical conductor within the block is connected to electrical ground with a portion thereof exposed to the atmosphere at the top surface of the block. Accumulation of water on the surface of the block affects the capacitance and conductance between the output circuit and electrical ground whereby the amplitude of the electrical output signal of the sensor is a function of the depth of water accumulating on the surface of the pathway.
JP4325800B2 discloses a water depth measuring apparatus, water depth is measured by measuring bodies which changes their light transmittance and changes their color when measuring surfaces are in contact with water. The water depth measuring apparatus comprises a pair of reference disks 1 and 2 having outer circumferential surfaces 1a and 2a as reference surfaces and a plurality of the disk-like measuring bodies 3-5 having outer circumferential surfaces 3a-5a as the measuring surfaces and gradually different diameters. The disk-like measuring bodies 3-5 are coaxially fixed to the reference disks 1 and 2 and rotatable with the rotation of the reference disks 1 and 2.
CN219694313U discloses a water level measuring device for building investigation, which comprises a transparent tube, a support sleeve is sleeved on the outer wall of the transparent tube, a locking component is arranged between the bottom of the support sleeve and the outer wall of the transparent tube, mounting grooves distributed at equal intervals are arranged at corners of the bottom of the support sleeve, and the mounting grooves are connected with the transparent tube. And the inner wall of one side of each mounting groove is arranged to be in a slope shape, supporting legs are rotationally connected to the inner walls of the mounting grooves through pin shafts, and handle rods are fixed to one sides of the supporting legs. The whole device is supported in a building investigation area through the supporting legs, the fixing frame and the supporting bottom plate are made to make contact with the bottom face of the building area, the stable performance of the whole device is kept through the supporting legs and the supporting bottom plate, manual direct measuring operation of holding a measuring ruler by hand is replaced, the problem that the measuring ruler inclines is solved, and the measuring efficiency is improved. Therefore, the measuring scale is stably arranged at a measuring position, real-time data feedback is effectively carried out, and certain accuracy of measured data is ensured.
CN218885054U discloses portable water level measuring instrument comprises a sleeve, a long strip visual groove is arranged on the circumferential outer wall of the sleeve in a penetrating manner, a piece of scale glass is embedded in the long strip visual groove, and a measuring shaft rod is slidably arranged in the sleeve; a mounting disc of a circular structure is welded to the bottom of the sleeve, and a measuring shaft rod is matched with a top end blocking plate of the sleeve and the center of the mounting disc in a penetrating and inserting mode. A counterweight conical block is welded to the bottom of the measuring shaft rod, and a positioning hole is formed in the top end section of the measuring shaft rod in a penetrating mode; two horizontally-supported lug blocks are symmetrically welded to the bottom section of the sleeve, and a pressing plate can scrape and clean algae and other floating sundries attached to the measuring shaft rod in advance through a chamfered inclined face on a central through hole of the pressing plate. Algae and other floating sundries are prevented from being adhered and filled in the water absorption gaps of the sponge mat to influence the water absorption performance.
The disadvantage associated with the above-mentioned prior arts is that these water level measuring devices require power supply to operate, contain various different electronic components required to measure the water level that elevates the price of the device and these devices are not portable.
Therefore, due to the abovementioned drawbacks, there is a need to provide a portable tool for water level measuring which is portable, does not require power supply or any complex electronic component to measure the water level.
