FIELD OF INVENTION
[0001] The embodiment herein generally relates to the field of manufacturing technology. More specifically, the invention provides a process for manufacturing a single piece two layered lid for a water tank, wherein the two layers are non-separable.
BACKGROUND AND PRIOR ART
[0002] Water tanks are used to store water and therefore got domestic as well as commercial applications. Water tanks are used for storing drinking water, irrigation agriculture, fire suppression, agricultural farming, both for plants and livestock and chemical manufacturing. Water tank parameters include the general design of the tank, and choice of construction materials. Water tank mainly comprises of outer tank body and a lid. The lid is the part of the water tank that serves as a closure or seal, usually one that completely closes the water tank. [0003] Conventionally, there are many varieties of lids for closing the water tank. However, the existing lids may not protect the water in the water tank sufficiently enough against contamination and thereby may fail to sustain hygiene condition of the water. Further, after a period of use of water tanks the lid colour may fade and results in poor opacity which in turn causes penetration of ultra violet rays into the water through the lid and thereby results in generation of algae in water. The above situation causes high water contamination and non-healthy consumption of potable water.
[0004] Therefore, there is a need to develop a single piece two layered lid and a process for manufacturing the single piece two layered lid. Further, there is still a need to develop a non-separable single piece two layered lid that provides
protection against ultra violet rays and algae formation and thereby avoids water
contamination.

two layered lid for protecting water in tank against ultra violet rays and algae
formation.
[0009] Yet another object of the present invention is to provide a single piece
two layered lid having longer durability
[00010] Another object of the present invention is to provide a single piece two
layered lid that avoids contamination of the water.
[00011] Another object of the present invention is to provide a single piece two
layered lid with higher durability, where if the lid is made from fresh/virgin
material.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
[00013] In view of the foregoing, an embodiment herein provides a process for manufacturing a single piece two layered lid for a water tank. According to an embodiment, the process for manufacturing the single piece two layered lid comprising the steps of injecting a molten plastic material through an injector to a die, wherein said die includes a male portion and a female portion, molding an outer layer of the lid by pressing the male portion of the die with the female portion of the die, wherein the die filled with the molten plastic material, removing said molded outer layer of the lid from the die, placing said molded outer layer of the lid on the female portion; injecting another molten plastic material through the injector to the die, and molding an inner layer of the lid with a pre-determined thickness and within an inner area of the outer layer of the lid by pressing said female portion on the male portion of the die, wherein the die filled with the another molten plastic material and thereby forming single two layered lid.
[00014] According to an embodiment, the molten plastic material is injected to the female portion of the die for molding the outer layer of the lid. According to an embodiment, another molten plastic material is injected to the male portion of the die for molding the inner layer of the lid.
[00015] According to an embodiment, the male portion and the female portion interchanged in position after the molding of the outer layer of the lid. [00016] According to an embodiment, the molten plastic material used to mold the outer layer of the lid is a polypropylene co-polymer (PPCP). According to an embodiment, another molten plastic material used to mold the inner layer of the lid is a high-density polyethylene (HDPE) grade polymer.
[00017] The outer layer and said inner layer of the lid are non-separable.
According to an embodiment, the pre-determined thickness of the inner lid
molded within the inner area of the outer layer of the lid is in a range of 1.0mm to
1.6mm. The outer layer of the lid is other than black colour. The inner layer of the
lid made in black color to protect the lid against ultra violet rays and algae
