A process for manufacturing of agricultural tillage disc with higher hardness and better wear resistance. The process utilizes selective alloy chemistry comprising C 0.26 - 0.33% by wt., Mn 1.00 - 1.20% by wt., Si 0.15 - 0.35% by wt. S upto 0.04 max, P upto 0.04 max and Cr 0.35 - 0.45% by wt. which is water quenched followed by tempering to get the improved tillage disc with higher hardness and wear resistant properties. The process instead of conventional oil quenching utilizes water quenching for development of hardness and mechanical properties. The tillage obtained is also cost effective.
