Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a process for preparing a skin care formulation, and a formulation prepared by said method. The process as disclosed provides for the use of dimethicone cross polymers, modified starch, and titanium dioxide in personal care formulations.

Specification

Claims:1. A process for preparing a skin care formulation, said process comprises the steps of:
a. obtaining an aqueous phase mixture comprising disodium ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid, glycerin, methyl paraben, polyoxyethylene fatty ethers derived from stearyl alcohol, and water;
b. obtaining a dispersion mixture comprising crosspolymers of C10-C30 alkyl acrylate, and water;
c. obtaining an oil phase mixture comprising mineral oil, polyethylene stearyl ether, cetyl alcohol, isopropyl palmitate, stearic acid, ethylene glycol distearate, shea butter, propyl paraben, and glyceryl stearate;
d. obtaining a pre-mixture I comprising titanium dioxide octyltriethoxysilane and polydimethylsiloxane;
e. obtaining a pre-mixture II comprising triethanolamine, and water;
f. obtaining a pre-mixture III comprising acrylates/acrylamide copolymer (and) mineral oil (and) polysorbate-85;
g. obtaining a pre-mixture IV comprising niacinamide, and water;
h. obtaining a pre-mixture V comprising D-panthenol, and water;
i. obtaining a pre-mixture VI comprising hydrophobically modified starch, and water;
j. obtaining a pre-mixture VII comprising DL alpha tocopheryl acetate;
k. obtaining a pre-mixture VIII; comprising silicone elastomers comprising a dimethicone crosspolymer in dimethicone, and polydimethylsiloxane;
l. obtaining a pre-mixture IX; comprising phenoxyethanol;
m. obtaining a pre-mixture X; comprising a colouring agent;
n. obtaining a pre-mixture XI comprising a odoriferous oil, and butylated hydroxytoluene;
o. mixing said aqueous phase mixture with said dispersion mixture to obtain a mixture A;
p. mixing said mixture A with said oil phase mixture to obtain a mixture B;
q. mixing said mixture B with said pre-mixture I to obtain a mixture C;
r. mixing said mixture C with said pre-mixture II to obtain a mixture D;
s. mixing slowly said mixture D with said pre-mixture III to obtain a mixture E;
t. mixing said mixture E with said pre-mixture IV to obtain a mixture F;
u. mixing said mixture F with said pre-mixture VII, followed by addition of pre-mixture V, followed by addition of pre-mixture VI to obtain a mixture G;
v. cooling mixture G and adding pre-mixture VIII to obtain a mixture H;
w. mixing said mixture H with said pre-mixture IX to obtain a mixture I;
x. mixing said mixture I with said pre-mixture X to obtain a mixture J;
y. mixing said mixture J with pre-mixture XI to obtain a skin care formulation,
wherein said pre-mixture I comprises titanium dioxide octyltriethoxysilane, and polydimethylsiloxane in w/w ratio in the range of 1:10-1:20, pre-mixture VIII comprises silicone elastomers comprising dimethicone crosspolymer in dimethicone, and polydimethylsiloxane in w/w ratio in the range of 1:1-1:1:5, pre-mixture VI comprises hydrophobically modified starch, and water in w/w ratio in the range of 1:6-1:10, pre-mixture VI is added prior to addition of pre-mixture VIII, and said skin care formulation is smooth and devoid of any grit and lumps.

The process as claimed in claim 1, wherein said aqueous phase mixture is mixed with said dispersion mixture at a temperature in the range of 80-85°C and stirred for 5-25 min to obtain a mixture A, said mixture A is mixed with said oil phase mixture at a temperature in the range of 80-85°C and stirred for 2-5 min to obtain a mixture B, said mixture B is mixed with said pre-mixture I at a temperature in the range of 80-85°C and homogenized for 5-20 min to obtain a mixture C, said mixture C is mixed with said pre-mixture II at a temperature of about 60°C and stirred for 5-20 min to obtain a mixture D, said mixture D is mixed slowly with said pre-mixture III over a period of 3-4 min at a temperature in the range of 55-60°C and stirred for 5-20 min to obtain a mixture E, said mixture E is mixed with said pre-mixture IV at a temperature in the range of 55-58°C and stirred for 5-20 min to obtain a mixture F, said mixture F is mixed with said pre-mixture VII, followed by addition of pre-mixture V, and pre-mixture VI at a temperature in the range of 50-52°C and stirred for 5-20 min to obtain a mixture G, mixture G is cooled to a temperature in the range of 38-42°C and added to pre-mixture VIII, which is stirred for 5-20 min to obtain a mixture H, said mixture H is mixed with said pre-mixture IX at a temperature in the range of 38-42°C and stirred for 5-20 min to obtain a mixture I, said mixture I is mixed with said pre-mixture X at a temperature in the range of 38-42°C and stirred for 5-20 min to obtain a mixture J, said mixture J is mixed with pre-mixture XI at a temperature of about 35°C and stirred for 5-20 min to obtain said skin care formulation.

The process as claimed in any of the claims 1-2, wherein pre-mixture I is added and homogenized under vacuum conditions of 900-1000mbar, pre-mixture II- pre-mixture X are added and stirred under vacuum conditions of 900-1000mbar, and pre-mixture XI is added and stirred under non-vacuum conditions.

The process as claimed in claim 1, wherein aqueous phase mixture comprises disodium ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid in the weight range of 0.01 to 1.00% with respect to the skin care formulation, glycerin in the weight range of 0.01 to 5.00% with respect to the skin care formulation, methyl paraben in the weight range of 0.01 to 1.00% with respect to the skin care formulation, polyoxyethylene fatty ethers derived from stearyl alcohol in the weight range of 0.5 to 3.00% with respect to the skin care formulation, and water in the weight range 10.00 to 25.00% with respect to the skin care formulation, dispersion mixture comprises of crosspolymers of C10-C30 alkyl acrylate in the weight range of 0.01 to 1.50%, and water in the weight range of 65.00 to 80.00% with respect to the skin care formulation, wherein oil phase mixture comprises mineral oil in the weight range of 1.00 to 10.00% with respect to the skin care formulation, polyethylene stearyl ether in the weight range of 0.1 to 2.00% with respect to the skin care formulation, cetyl alcohol in the weight range of 0.1 to 3.00% with respect to the skin care formulation, isopropyl palmitate in the weight range of 0.1 to 5.00% with respect to the skin care formulation, stearic acid in the weight range of 0.1 to 3.00% with respect to the skin care formulation, ethylene glycol distearate in the weight range of 0.1 to 3.00% with respect to the skin care formulation, shea butter in the weight range of 0.01 to 2.00% with respect to the skin care formulation, propyl paraben in the weight range of 0.01 to 1.00% with respect to the skin care formulation, and glyceryl stearate in the weight range of 0.1 to 3.00% with respect to the skin care formulation, pre-mixture I comprises titanium dioxide octyltriethoxysilane in the weight range of 0.1-3.00% with respect to the skin care formulation and polydimethylsiloxane in the weight range of 0.5- 8.0 % with respect to the skin care formulation, pre-mixture II comprises triethanolamine in the weight range of 0.01 to 2.00% with respect to the skin care formulation, and water in the weight range of 0.5 to 2.00% with respect to the skin care formulation, pre-mixture III comprises Acrylates/Acrylamide Copolymer (and) mineral oil (and) Polysorbate-85 in the weight range of 0.3 to 1% with respect to the skin care formulation, pre-mixture IV comprises niacinamide in the weight range of 0.01 to 1.00% with respect to the skin care formulation, and water in the weight range of 1.00 to 3.00% with respect to the skin care formulation, pre-mixture V comprises D panthenol in the weight range of 0.01 to 1.00% with respect to the skin care formulation, and water in the weight range of 0.01 to 1.00% with respect to the skin care formulation, pre-mixture VI comprises hydrophobically modified starch in the weight range of 0.01 to 2.00% with respect to the skin care formulation, and water in the weight range of 3.00 to 5.00% with respect to the skin care formulation, pre-mixture VII comprises of DL alpha tocopheryl acetate in the weight range of 0.01 to 2.00% with respect to the skin care formulation, pre-mixture VIII comprises of silicone elastomers comprising a dimethicone crosspolymer in dimethicone in the weight range of 0.5% - 8.00% with respect to the skin care formulation and polydimethylsiloxane in the weight range of 0.5% - 8.00% with respect to the skin care formulation,wherein phenoxyethanol is in the weight range of 0.2 to 1.5% with respect to the skin care formulation, wherein colouring agent is in the weight range of 0.0001-0.0008% with respect to the skin care formulation, pre-mixture XI comprises odoriferous oil in the weight range of 0.05-1% with respect to the skin care formulation, and butylated hydroxytoluene is in the weight range of 0.01 to 2.00% with respect to the skin care formulation.
5. A skin care formulation prepared by a process as claimed in any of the claims 1-4.
6. A personal skin care formulation comprising:
a. 72.121% (w/w) of water;
b. 7.00%% (w/w) of mineral oil;
c. 2.5% (w/w) of silicone elastomers comprising a dimethicone cross polymer in dimethicone;
d. 3.% (w/w) of glycerine;
e. 5.% (w/w) of polydimethylsiloxane;
f. 2.% (w/w) of isopropyl palmitate;
g. 0.6%% (w/w) of polyethylene stearyl ether;
h. 1.% (w/w) of niacinamide;
i. 1.% (w/w) of ethylene glycol distearate;
j. 1.2% (w/w) of polyoxyethylene fatty ethers derived from stearyl alcohol
k. 0.8% (w/w) of Acrylates/Acrylamide Copolymer (and) mineral oil (and) Polysorbate-85;
l. 0.75% (w/w) cetyl alcohol;
m. 0.72% (w/w) of DL alpha tocopheryl acetate;
n. 0.5% (w/w) of phenoxyethanol;
o. 0.5% (w/w) of glyceryl stearate;
p. 0.5% (w/w) of hydrophobically modified starch;
q. 0.5% (w/w) of shea butter;
r. 0.35% (w/w) of odoriferous oil;
s. 0.2% (w/w) of titanium dioxide octyltriethoxysilane;
t. 0.1% (w/w) of D panthenol;
u. 0.078% (w/w) of triethanolamine;
v. 0.07% (w/w) of crosspolymers of C10-C30 alkyl acrylate;
w. 0.06% (w/w) of propyl paraben;
x. 0.05% (w/w) of disodium EDTA;
y. 0.05% (w/w) of butylated hydroxy toluene;
z. 0.0003727% (w/w) of a coloring agent -1,
aa. 0.000177% (w/w) of a coloring agent-2,
bb. 0.0.35% (w/w) of methyl paraben; and
cc. 1.00% of stearic acid.
7. A method of preparing a personal skin care formulation as claimed in claim 6.
