This invention relates to a process of preparing a synergistic medicinal composition for the treatment for the management of Maturity Onset Diabetes Mellitus.
BACKGROUND
The management of Diabetes Mellitus has made significant strides in the recent past There has been a better understanding of its aetiopathogenesis particularly in research oriented towards insulin resistance. There has been significant developments with reference to newer oral anti-diabetes and the state of the art human insulins which have made the management of the maturity onset diabetes (MOD) much more effective, pleasant and acceptable. A diabetic today is better managed than ten years back.
However, there are still grey areas of management which cause problems for the treating clinician. The parameters of management are (i) Diet (ii) oral hypoglycaemics (iii) Insulins. From clinical experiences it has been found that the difficult areas of management are (a) switching over from diet to drugs when pure diet control is not enough. Question are when to change, how and with what drugs and (b) when
should one stop trying oral antidiabetics and switch on to insulin because of inadequate control.
Insulin treatment is always resisted by the patient and one wishes there were additional drugs which could have added anti-diabetic effect so that one could avoid insulin.
A Homeopath would in general prescribe Syzygium Jambolanum to a diabetic patient but if the patient has a history of grief or mental stress prior to onset of diabetes then it is given along with Acid Phosphoricum. In case the patient is suffering from any cardiac (heart) ailment then Cretagus Oxyacantha will be given. The purpose of DIBONIL is to cover a wide spectrum of symptoms so that any patient suffering from diabetes can safely be treated with DIBONIL.
The object of this invention is to simplify the prescription by doctor for a large group of patients and to cover various degrees of diabetes and to simplify the prescription by a doctor for a large group of patients.
To achieve the said objective, this invention relates to a process of preparing a. synergistic medicinal composition for the treatment for the management of Maturity Onset Diabetes Mellitus, comprising of the following ingredients: i) preparing individually mother tinctures of Cephlandra Indica
(Leaves), Gymnema Sylvestre (Leaves), Syzygium Jambolanum
(seeds), Crataegus Oxycantha (Berries), Abroma Augusta (Leaves)
and Helonias Dioica (Rhizome & root) in a manner as herein
described ii) mixing the above ingredients in the proportion mentioned there
against with 12.5 to 15 % V/V of Acidum Phosphoricum ( ortho
phosphoric acid)
Ingredients Mother tinctureV/V
a) Cephlandra Indica (Leaves) 12.5-15% V/V
b) Gymnena Sylvestre (Leaves) 12.5-15%V/V
c) Syzygium Jambolanum (seeds) 12.5- 25% V/V
d) Crataegus Oxyacantha (Berries) 5-12.5% V/V
e) Abroma Augusta (Leaves) 5-12.5-% V/V
f) Helonias Dioca (Rhizome & root) 10-12.5% V/V
iii) if desired, adding water or alcohol to the above composition to make
the volume up to 100ml In equal proportions and scale ranging from 5-25% V/V In the aforesaid compositions, the following ingredients are obtained from herbal extracts: Cephlandra Indica (Leaves), Gymnema Sylvestre (Leaves), Syzygium Jambolanum (seeds), Crataegus Oxycantha (Berries), Abroma Augusta (Leaves) and Helonias Dioica (Rhizome & root). Acidum Phosphoricum is however a chemical salt.
The chemical name of Acidum Phosphoricum is Phosphoric Acid. The
mother tincture of herbal and chemical ingredients of said composition are
prepared according to the Homeopathic Pharmacopoeia of India. In
accordance with the Homeopathic Pharmacopoeia, extracts are prepared
from mother tincture. Said above mentioned ingredients are mixed in equal
proportions to form Dibonil composition. In the said composition the
alcohol content is approximately 45% -51%
The composition so obtained is known as Dibonil composition and is
prescribed by doctors depending upon the severity of the patients condition.
Normally the dosage prescribed is ten drops in one fourth cup of water half
an hour before the meals three times a day.
The invention will now, be described with reference to the following
examples.
Example 1:
The Dibonil composition is prepared by mixing in equal proportions at
ambient temperature the following ingredients:
Ingredients Mother tincture V/V
i) Cephlandra Indica (Leaves) 12.5% V/V
ii) Gymnena Sylvestre (Leaves) 12.5%V/V
iii) Syzygium Jambolanum (seeds) 12.5% V/V
iv) Crataegus Oxyacantha (Berries) 12.5% V/V
v) Acidum Phosphoricum (chemical) 12.5% V/V
vi) Abroma Augusta (Leaves) 12.5% V/V
vii) Helonias Dioca (Rhozome & root) 12.5% V/V
The process comprises of preparing mother tinctures of Cephlandra Indica (Leaves),Gemnema Sylvestre (Leaves), Syzygium Jambolanum (seeds), Crataegus Oxycantha (Berries)
