A Process For The Preparation Of Cis Tosylate, An Intermediate Of Ketoconazole.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for the preparation of [(2R, 4S)-2-(2,4-dichlorophenyl)-2-(imidazol-1-ylmethyl)-1,3-dioxolan-4-yl]methyl 4-methyl benzene sulphonate, referred to as 'Cis-Tosylate'. The present invention also relates to a process for preparing a substantially pure cis-tosylate having purity greater than 95 %. The present invention further relates to a process for preparing a substantially pure cis-alcohol, the precursor of the cis-tosylate having a purity greater than 95 %. The process of the present invention is simple, cost-effective, high energy efficient, temperature and atom economic and industrially feasible.
