A Process Of Preparation Of Nanosized Metal Vanadate Particles

Abstract: A process for the preparation of nanosized metal van date particles comprising mixing ammonium van ad ate with formic acid and hydrazine hydrate a mole ratio of ammonium van ad ate; formic acid: hydrazine hydrate of 1:1-4:0.025 - 4, produce vanadyl formate; mixing said vandyl formate with metal nitrate(s), fuel and minor amount of polyvmyl alcohol in aqueous medium to obtain a homogeneous mixture; drying or spray drying the said homogenous mixture by simple evaporation to obtain fluffy carbonaceous mass; calcining the said carbonaceous mass depending on the chemical nature of the system to produce the dried nanosized particles.

Specification

This invention relates to a process of preparation of nanosized
metal vanadate particles.
Previously, fuel based nano particles was synthesized by ueing
hydrazine based pyrophoric chemicals. The method of the prior art
had several disadvantages, like toxicity of the reagents and
difficulty in controlling high exothermic process and homoge-
neity of the mul t icomponf-nt mixture.
An object of this invention is to propose a novel process of
preparation of nanosized metal vanadate particles.
Another object of this invention is to propose a process whose
rate of reaction can be smoothly controlled for- oetting desired
morphology of the particles.
Yet another object of this invention ir> to propose a cheaper
process for the preparation of nanosized metal vanadate
particles.
Yet another object of this invention is to propose an environment
friendly process.
According tn thjs invention is provided a process for the prepa-
ration of nanosized metal vanadate particles comprising
mining required amount of ammonium vanadate with formic acid and
hydrazine hydrate to.produce vanadyl formate;
mixing said vanadyl formate with (Jcsired amount of metal
nitrate(s), fuel and minor amount of polyvinyl alcohol in aqueous
medium to obtain a homogeneous mixture;
drying or spray drying the said homogeneous mixture by simple
evaporation to obtain fluffy carbonaceous mass;
calcinating the said carbonaceous mass at a suitable temperature
range dt?pending on the chemical nature of the system to produce
the dried nanosized particles.
The following nanosized iiic.u.ai v;inatJ4iLcs can be prepared by the
aforesaid process:
i. Metal vanadates
a. CA j (VO^ )j.J, where (A = Mg, Ca, Br, Ba, Co, Ni , L'-u, Zn and
mixtures);
b. rBVO^.1, where 1 .
At thf- outset of thr. description which follows, it is to be
understood thai the ensuing description only illustrates a parti-
cular form o? this invention. However, such a particular form i
