A Process Of Preparing Tastless Micro Encapsulated Macrolides

Abstract: A process of preparing tasteless micro encapsulated macrolides mainly comprising of the following steps: a) dissolving the desired quantity of active drug and polymer taken in a ratio of 1:0.1 to 1:10, in an organic solvent/phase, such as Methylene Chloride, at room temperature, under continuous stirring to obtain a clear solution. b) Dispensing the solution of the above step (a) in an aqueous alkaline solution, of pH ranging from 7.5 to 12, containing a surfactant/Reagent such as polysorbate, the ratio of organic phase to aqueous phase ranging from 1:15, c) Stirring and heating the solutions of the above steps (a) and (b) to a moderate temperature ranging from 25 to 75 degree centigrade and vigorously stirring till all of the organic solvent is evaporated. d) Filtering the solution mixture of the above preferably through whatman # 1, filter paper, step ( c ) and washing the residue with water, more preferably with the purified water. e) Drying the washed residue of the above step (d) at a temperature ranging from 45 to 100 degree centigrade, more preferably at 55 to 65 degree centigrade, f) Sifting the dried residue of the above step (e), preferably through stainless steel sieve # 30, to obtain a tasteless, odorless, white free flowing powder of the said micro encapsulated macrolides.
