A Proficient Algorithm Based Unique Innovative Manual System To Differentiate Any Camera Captured Print From The Copyrighted Creative Video Media To Reliably Monitor & Curb The Media Piracy

Abstract: The invention involves embedding a unique digital fingerprint within the video such that the fingerprint can easily and uniquely identify the device which performed the playback and also the date and time of the playback and changes each time a different playback is selected for the same content and is positioned randomly being different in each frame of the video or other media.

Introduction
As per media statistics, the Indian film industry suffers heavy loss to the tune of Rs. 4000 crore per annum due to the piracy of the Indian movies.
Basically, the quantum of the box office collection of the first week is a yardstick to reveal the popularity of the movie. The huge collection figures of box office ill motivates the pirates to cash on the popularity of the media by adopting unfair trade practices. Till date, globally various national governments have made major attempts to wipe out the piracy in any form by enforcing strict IP rights and laws. But, they have failed miserably due to factors e.g.
1. Lack of co-ordination between the multi nodal agencies involved.
2. Technical incompetency of the human resources handling the piracy cases.
3. Wasted interest of the responsible and accountable persons.
4. Nexus between the pirates and exhibitors or the manpower at various stages in the process of generation of the copyrighted print
5. Access, availability, skill sets, privacy and time to handle the latest sophisticated hardware.
The digital era has simplified the process of content delivery. Simultaneously it has enhanced the ease at which the buyer can re¬distribute the content, thus denying the income to the seller. Video and images published on the net are often victims of such piracy.
Piracy
Film industry being a money spinning industry, the demand for popular movies is ever increasing. At the same time there is a short fall of the copyrighted media content which comes with a premium. Rising ticket rates, lack of free time at the disposal of viewer, limited choice of media are some of the challenges which affect the revenue of the exhibitors. Viewers at

3
numerous video parlors spread over the entire nation wish to watch the latest and popular movies irrespective of quality of print, authenticity of the print, legal compliance of the print etc. This greed of the spectators to watch the first day first show at affordable cost indirectly drives the piracy market.
The revenue loss due to piracy has taken alarming shape not only due to the aforesaid factors but also due to the coming of new players in the media broadcasting domain viz. top box manufacturers, operators, content uplinking/downloading organizations, tail end users (subscribers) at home/office etc. Specifically tail end home users have substantial time, privacy and knowledge to use equipments such as high definition handy cam to make unauthorized camera print for captive as well as commercial consumption.
Invention
The invention makes use of the fundamental of cryptography and steganography and their limitations as individual technique but merits upon their synergy. The innovatively architected solution by the inventors comprises of the embedded software written in a unique fashion such than it prevents even the creators of the code of the software to decipher the information embedded in the semi blind watermark on the copyrighted media print meant for broadcasting for the subscribers.
The semi blind water mark which is embedded on the video media comprises of following four key components.

4
(a) Type of media content
(b) Source of the content
(c) Date stamp (eight digit format e.g. 30102008)
(d) Time stamp (round the clock in hours e.g. 2300 hour)
This information is integrated along with the Cartesian (X-Y) co-ordiantes of the location of the aforesaid watermark on the frame in the semi blind watermark. The size of the watermark is about 48 bits binary code equivalent to 6 bytes of hexadecimal code.
Typically the standardized frame rate for commercial sound film is about 25 frames per second. So depend upon the span (operation length) of the film, complete movie is fractioned into equivalent number of frames. Effectively semi blind water mark will occupy minuscule size i.e. only 4 bit per frame. Instead of adopting any specific pattern or embedding the water mark in the inter-frame gap, the said invention has the semi blind water mark scattered across each frame randomly
The code on each frame is further integrated with a smart algorithm. The integrated complete code which acts like a DNA for a copyrighted print generates a random number sequence which is safely stored in an encrypted format on a central server with limited access based on private and public key combination principle.

5
Given the choice of ease of access, availability, affordability and technical knowledge of the handling of advanced gadgets it is impossible to completely eradicate the piracy. Hence in spite of the much hyped and proclaimed antipiracy solutions of the reputed giants available in the market along with various types of watermarking on the media print, piracy is still prevalent.
Methodology
Even in the worst possible scenario, upon installation of the inventor's solution, if there is unauthorized usage of media content leading to piracy, under such circumstance, a single frame or small portion of print or even about 12 frames can be sampled in continuation.
They can be neatly scanned for detecting the semi-blind watermark.
Inventor's proprietary software can be run across exposing the portion of the film and concurrently analyzing the code sequencing.
The diagnosis will lead to a random number code which can be manually compared by retrieving the encrypted random number code from the central server upon user authentication.
Different heads responsible for various tasks in making the copyrighted media will need to enter the mandatory dynamic data for detection of piracy node.
Upon executing this exercise, the exact mismatch in the random number sequence and corresponding frame of the media can be detected pin point.

6
Based upon this Evidence an associated preventive action mechanism can be triggered for further legal or disciplinary action e.g. Capital punishment or legal punishment corresponding to the loss of revenue due to IP infringement.
