PREAMBLE TO THE DESCRIPTION
The following specification particularly describes the nature of this invention and the manner in which it is to be performed:

FIELD OF INVENTION:
This invention relates to mechanical assemblies for covers and shelters.
Particularly, this invention envisages a protective canopy for a motor in order to prevent water and dust particles to enter said motor and is easily dismountable for ease of transportation.
BACKGROUND OF INVENTION:
Conventionally, there is no means available to protect a vertical motor. For Horizontal Motors, protection is of two types of Canopy viz: i) which completely covers the motor with in-built louvers for sufficient air ventilation and ii) Top canopy, in which only the top portion of the motor is covered. This canopy is fixed through eye-bolt of the motor. This type of canopy is used where the motor is under a shade and there is a need to just protect the motor from sudden impact and leakage from over head pipes lines. This protection provides full circulation of air to the motor.
For vertical motors, the ventilation is provided from top and bottom. Canopies are one piece molded giving monolithic construction.
Typically, FRP Canopies are manufactured as per requirement and for electric motors as per Motor Frame size and they are one piece molded from polyester resin and glass fiber, with thickness typically varying from 3 to 5mm. They are available in two types of design; doghouse type and skin tight type. Skin tight type design has flexibility of use in any position of cable entry and also has better cooling effect due to air draft created between the canopy body and fins of the motor.

Conventionally, canopies are closed. So, generation of heat inside the motor due to closed environment is high, which is detrimental to motor working conditions
There is a need to overcome the disadvantages associated with the prior art.
OBJECTS OF INVENTION:
An object of the invention is to provide a protective cover / canopy for a motor to prevent water and dust particles to enter in the motor.
Another object of the invention is to provide a protective cover / canopy for a motor which can be used for vertical motors but not limited to vertical motors only.
Yet another object of the invention is to provide a protective cover / canopy for a motor which consumes less space and can be used in outdoor applications where it is not possible to make shade for the motor.
Still another object of the invention is to provide a protective cover / canopy for a motor which enhances the life of the motor and needs less maintenance.
An additional object of the invention is to provide a protective cover / canopy for a motor which is easily mountable and completely detachable / dismountable.

Yet an additional object of the invention is to provide a protective cover / canopy for a motor where dual support is provided to act against strong wind forces and wherein said dual support reduces material content drastically from the canopy structure.
Still an additional embodiment of this invention is to provide a protective cover / canopy for a motor, which protective cover / canopy is easily dismountable.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION:
According to this invention, there is provided a protective cover / canopy for a motor, said protective cover / canopy comprises:
a. top cover adapted to form a canopy over said motor;
b. at least one mounting means, placed in a pre-defined configuration,
adapted to hold said top cover spaced apart from said motor; and
c. at least one lifting hook adapted to fitted atop said top cover for
providing means for lifting said top cover from said motor or to
place said top cover atop said motor.
Typically, said mounting means are elongate rod members adapted to space apart said top cover from said motor.
Typically, protective cover / canopy as claimed in claim 1 wherein, said top cover is a conical top cover.

Typically, said one end of each of said mounting means is mounted on said motor and other end of the said mounting means is connected with bottom of said top cover for support.
Typically, said top cover includes a plurality of stiffener elements to build a support framework for said cover / canopy.
Typically, said top cover includes dual support of longitudinal and transverse stiffener elements to build a support framework for said cover / canopy.
Typically, said top cover includes a wrap adapted to be fitted between said stiffener elements for providing the covering sheath of said top cover.
Typically, said protective cover / canopy includes stud and slip ring hub in slip ring assemblies.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE ACCOMPANYING DRAWINGS:
Figure 1 illustrates a front view of the motor; and
Figure 2 illustrates a back view of the motor.
The invention will now be described in relation to the accompanying drawings, in which:

Figure 3 illustrates a front view of the protective cover / canopy fitted atop a motor;
Figure 4 illustrates a back view of the protective cover / canopy fitted atop a motor;
Figure 5 illustrates an auxiliary top view of the protective cover / canopy; and
Figure 6 illustrates an under view of the protective canopy / cover.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE ACCOMPANYING DRAWINGS:
Figure 1 illustrates a front view of the motor; and
Figure 2 illustrates a back view of the motor.
The motor (100) includes heat exchanger (12) connected to a fan enclosed by fan covers (14), each communicably connected by ducts (14) A stator frame (16) is located in between heat exchanger units. A PSTB (18) is mounted over said stator frame.
According to the invention there is provided a protective cover / canopy (200) for a motor (100), said protective cover / canopy comprises a top cover, plurality of mounting means to hold the cover, lifting hook.
Figure 3 illustrates a front view of the protective cover / canopy fitted atop a motor, in accordance with this invention. Figure 4 illustrates a back

view of the protective cover / canopy fitted atop a motor, in accordance with this invention. Figure 5 illustrates an auxiliary top view of the protective cover / canopy, in accordance with this invention; and Figure 6 illustrates an under view of the protective canopy / cover, in accordance with this invention.
Typically, said cover / canopy (52) is conical in shape but not restricted to conical only.
In accordance with an embodiment of this invention, said plurality mounting means (54) are support members mounted on side of the motor. Typically, said mounting means are elongate rod members adapted to space apart said protective / canopy from said motor. The protective canopy / cover is put vertically atop said motor., Typically, one end of each of said mounting means is mounted on said motor and other end of the said mounting means is connected with bottom of cover for support.
In accordance with another embodiment of this invention, said lifting hooks (56) are provided on the top of said protective cover / canopy adapted to provide means for lifting said canopy from over said motor or to put canopy atop said motor.
In accordance with yet another embodiment of this invention, a plurality of stiffener elements (58) are provided to build the support framework of said canopy the cover / canopy.
In accordance with still another embodiment of this invention, dual support of longitudinal and transverse support members is provided to act

against strong wind forces. Said dual support reduces the material content drastically from the canopy structure.
In accordance with an additional embodiment of this invention, there is provided a wrap (60) adapted to be fitted between said stiffener members for providing the covering sheath of said protective cover / canopy.
In accordance with an additional embodiment of this invention, stud and slip ring hub in slip ring assemblies solves the problem of stud breakage in slip ring units.
