l!'IELD OF INVENTION
This invention relates to a protector mounting for vehicle fuel filler hose. The
vehicle particularly includes passenger vehicle, light commercial vehicle
without restricting scope of the invention to the same .
. ~~ACKGROUND /PRIOR ART
In general, fuel storage tank (T) is connected to rubber hose (H) and filler neck
. (metallic/resin) (N) to .fill fuel in the storage tank as illustrated in fig 1. Usually
rubber hoses that connect tank and neck are safeguarded in the wheel housing
of the vehicle to prevent any damage thereto due to stone chipping from the
tire. In the case where hose is exposed to chipping stones, protection is
· requi'red on the hose which is either metallic or resin type. The protection
means· for the hose is called protector, which requires sufficient number of
mountings so as to avoid the following:
A) Hattlin,g
. B) Stress at mountings
Currently available protector (P) forming a U-section is used to house the fuel
filler hose (H) placed between the neck and fuel tank (T). The protector is
integrated to three snaps (1, 2, 3) for mounting to a fixed member of the vehicle
body i.e. frame j chassis (F) as shown in fig 1 also indicating three respective
mountings (1',2',3') including bracket (3').
Fig ?. iilustrates mounting of the protector on the frame of vehicle. Out of three
mountings for snaps, two mountings are conveniently and readily available on
vehicle body-. However, for mounting of third snap, a bracket is required to be
~Nclded on body side panel wherein the bracket constitutes ·third mounting.
Feasibility regarding provision of bracket on body side panel depends on

availability of space and other factors such as sufficient gap from welding jigs
and vehicle assembly hanger. Addition of bracket may give rise to the following
lSSUeS:
Fouling of bracket with the welding jig/ fixture /welding gun.
Interference of the bracket with assembly hanger.
Higher chances of damage to the weld bracket during transportation.
Presence of bn=Jc::kc->,t adds to weight; which inturn increases cost and
reduces fuel efficiency.
A patent (KR 200130062Yl) is directed to a protecting cover for fuel hose .of a
car. However it does not discuss regarding mounting of the protecting cover.
Jn view of the above, there is a requirement to introduce protector mounting
assembly of vehicle for fuel filler hose which can obviate short-comings of the
known art(s).
f:fBJ~CTS OF THE INVENTION
An object of this invention. is to propose protector mounting for vehicle fuel
:fil.ler hose which overcomes disadvantages associated with the prior art.
/\n.Dt:hcr objeCt of this invention is to propose protector mounting for vehicle
fuel filler hose which is cost effective.
· Further object of this invention is to propose protector mounting for vehicle
fuel filler hose which is reliable .
. [.;U~MAR.Y OF INVENTION.
According to this invention there is provided a protector mounting for vehicle
fuel filler hose which comprises a clamp integrated to one inher side surface of
the protector to hold said hose.

~ruEF DESCRIPTION OF THE ACCOMPANYING DRAWINGS
Further objects and advantages of this invention will be more apparent from
the ensuing description when read in conjunction with the accompanymg
drawings of exemplary embodiments of invention and wherein:
Fig. 1 shows: Exploded view of protector mounting assembly.
Fig. 2 shows: Conventional protector mounted to frame of vehicle.
Fig. 3 shows: A protector mounting for vehicle fuel filler hose according to the
present invention.
DETAIL DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION WITH REFERENCE TO THE
. ACCOMPANYING DRAWINGS
The present invention makes a disclosure regarding protector mounting for fuel
.. filicr hose, which can be employedin a vehicle.
The protector mounting assembly of invention has been devised to eliminate
Lb.i rd snap of known protector and a bracket therefor by providing an
additional mounting to a protector.
The protector mounting comprises a plastic clamp to grip fuel filler hose in the
protector for providing positive locking.
Now, reference may be made to fig. 3 wherein the clamp (lA) compnses a
curved meinber.(substantially a C-section) to hold the hose (2A). Said clamp is
integrated to one inner side surface of the protector (3A).
Thus the clamp integrated to the protector is employed to support the hose.

The clamp forms third mounting for the protector. It is located away from two
snap mountings and at any intermediate portions of the hose. So that it can
provide stability to the entire mounting of the protector.
The aforesaid clamp can be provided more than one m numher as per
rcquircmentat the intermediate positions of said hose.
The instant invention thus eliminates the requirement of bracket and snap of
. prior art, thereby reducing the weight and cost.
Said clamp of the invention is preferably made of any polymer of plastic by
ir0cction molding without restricting scope of the invention to the same. Thus
other materials and methods readily apparent to a person skilled in the art are
understood to be within p·urview of the invention.
Ad.va.ntageous Features
Elimination of bracket and snap.
·]~eduction in weight and cost.
Improvement in fuel efficiency.
Improved ergonomics for assembly
It is to be noted that the present invention is susceptible to modifications,
·adaptations and changes by those skilled in the art. Such variant embodiments
employing the concepts and features of this invention are intended to be within
the scope of the present invention, which is further set forth under ·the
following
