Specification

[0001]The present subject matter described herein, relates to a receptacle for an infotainment system of a vehicle. More particularly, to a receptacle which can accommodate both original equipment manufacturer (OEM) fitted and aftermarket infotainment systems.
BACKGROUND
[0002] Background description includes information that may be useful in understanding the present invention. It is not an admission that any of the information provided herein is prior art or relevant to the presently claimed invention, or that any publication specifically or implicitly referenced is prior art.
[0003] Generally, receptacle for accommodating infotainment system is manufactured by OEM as per DIN standard specification. DIN is an acronym for the Deutsches Institut fur Normung, a German organization that created 1 DIN and 2 DIN standards infotainment systems. According to standard specification, the dimensions of 1 DIN is about 180mm x 50 mm (about 7x2 inches), whereas the dimensions of 2 DIN is about 180mm x 100 mm (about 7x4 inches). The infotainment systems may be touch screen type or push button type and include all its allied components and wiring harness. The infotainment systems may be employed based on variant of the vehicle, for example an entry level variant which has less features in comparison to the higher priced variant may not have the infotainment system. However, he/ she may be provided with an option to employ 1 DIN or 2 DIN aftermarket infotainment system as per his/ her requirement. Floating concept is a trend in automotive sector and it means part of the infotainment systems is positioned above the dash board of the vehicle. In floating concept, there are two types: 1) Full Floating and 2) Semi Floating. In full floating, complete infotainment system will be above the dash board and in semi floating, a part of the infotainment system will be above the dash board. The floating concept brings aesthetic appeal to the infotainment system.

[0004] Technical Problem: Depending on the existing layout of the garnish, only one type of infotainment system, either 1 DIN or 2 DIN can be fitted in the vehicle. The existing layout of garnish is not flexible to accommodate either 1 DIN or 2 DIN infotainment system depending on the customer preference and his budget limitations.
[0005] No solution for the above mentioned technical problem is available in the market.
[0006] Therefore, a simple and in-expensive solution is required which can accommodate either 1 DIN or 2 DIN depending on the customer requirement.
OBJECTS OF THE DISCLOSURE
[0007] Some of the objects of the present disclosure, which at least one embodiment herein satisfy, are listed herein below.
[0008] The principal object of the present invention is to provide a top cover of a receptacle flexible to accommodate either 1 DIN or 2 DIN infotainment systems.
[0009] Another object of the present invention is to provide a garnish flexible to accommodate either 1 DIN or 2 DIN infotainment systems.
[0010] One more object of the present invention is to provide an option for the workmen to perform service without pulling the infotainment system from the receptacle.
[0011] Further one more object of the present invention is to provide a garnish flexible to accommodate either OEM fitted or aftermarket infotainment systems.
[0012] Still one more object of the present invention is to do parts reduction in the receptacle and save cost involved in its manufacturing.
[0013] Further another object of the present invention is to reduce length of wiring harness provided at the back of the infotainment system.

[0014] These and other objects and advantages will become more apparent when reference is made to the following description and accompanying drawings.

This cavity can also be used as a space for holding parking tickets, coins etc.
[0040] In an aspect, the case 802(d) is angularly mounted inside the receptacle 20 600.
[0041] Referring to fig 3(a) and 3(b), the top cover 602 of the receptacle 600 rests against the garnish 802 of the infotainment system 800 proximal to its bottom end.
[0042] Referring to fig 4(a) and 4(b), the top cover 602 of the receptacle 600 25 rests against the garnish 802 of the infotainment system 800 proximal to its top end.
[0043] It will be understood by those within the art that, in general, terms used herein, and especially in the appended claims (e.g., bodies of the appended
9

claims) are generally intended as “open” terms (e.g., the term “including” should be interpreted as “including but not limited to,” the term “having” should be interpreted as “having at least,” the term “includes” should be interpreted as “includes but is not limited to,” etc.). It will be further understood by those within
5 the art that if a specific number of an introduced claim recitation is intended, such an intent will be explicitly recited in the claim, and in the absence of such recitation no such intent is present. For example, as an aid to understanding, the following appended claims may contain usage of the introductory phrases “at least one” and “one or more” to introduce claim recitations. However, the use of such
10 phrases should not be construed to imply that the introduction of a claim recitation by the indefinite articles “a” or “an” limits any particular claim containing such introduced claim recitation to inventions containing only one such recitation, even when the same claim includes the introductory phrases “one or more” or “at least one” and indefinite articles such as “a” or “an” (e.g., “a” and/or “an” should
15 typically be interpreted to mean “at least one” or “one or more”); the same holds true for the use of definite articles used to introduce claim recitations. In addition, even if a specific number of an introduced claim recitation is explicitly recited, those skilled in the art will recognize that such recitation should typically be interpreted to mean at least the recited number (e.g., the bare recitation of “two
20 recitations,” without other modifiers, typically means at least two recitations, or two or more recitations). Furthermore, in those instances where a convention analogous to “at least one of A, B, and C, etc.” is used, in general such a construction is intended in the sense one having skill in the art would understand the convention (e.g., “a system having at least one of A, B, and C” would include
25 but not be limited to systems that have A alone, B alone, C alone, A and B together, A and C together, B and C together, and/or A, B, and C together, etc.). In those instances where a convention analogous to “at least one of A, B, or C, etc.” is used, in general such a construction is intended in the sense one having skill in the art would understand the convention (e.g., “a system having at least
30 one of A, B, or C” would include but not be limited to systems that have A alone,
10

B alone, C alone, A and B together, A and C together, B and C together, and/or A, B, and C together, etc.). It will be further understood by those within the art that virtually any disjunctive word and/or phrase presenting two or more alternative terms, whether in the description, claims, or drawings, should be understood to contemplate the possibilities of including one of the terms, either of the terms, or both terms. For example, the phrase "A or B" will be understood to include the possibilities of "A" or "B" or "A and B."
[0044] While the foregoing describes various embodiments of the invention, other and further embodiments of the invention may be devised without departing from the basic scope thereof. The scope of the invention is determined by the claims that follow. The invention is not limited to the described embodiments, versions or examples, which are included to enable a person having ordinary skill in the art to make and use the invention when combined with information and knowledge available to the person having ordinary skill in the art.
