Abstract: The invention relates to a Resting Tool for aligning dual tubing hanger bodies with dual bores for handling tubings in offshore drilling operation, comprising a body constructed with two grooves shaped corresponding to that of the hanger body halves, the tool halves upon accommodating the hanger body halves can be locked by a pin-socket means; and one each metallic handle provided on the two external side of the tool body.
FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The invention relates to oil field equipment namely Dual tubing hanger. More
particularly, the invention relates to a Resting Tool for aligning dual tubing
hanger bodies with dual bores for handling tubings in offshore drilling operation.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
Dual Tubing hangers are mainly used for suspending the tubing and having
multiple ports for down hole operations; and a plurality of control lines with bore
for accessing a back pressure valve. Tubing hangers are of different types
namely extended neck type of hanger, short neck hangers and suspending type
tubing hanger, and capable to perform various sealing methods for example,
packing energization by gland or 's' seals for sealing or 'or' rings for sealing.
According to the prior art, Dual Tubing hanger bodies are constructed as two
separate bodies aligned respectively with pressure plates and base plates either
on top or bottom to allow easy landing of the dual hanger through a blow out
preventer into the wellhead. The disadvantage of these prior art dual tubing
hanger is that the operation of the drilling/sealing constitute a time consuming
process during installation in the wellhead.
The hanger body is having at least two threaded box type tubing bores, each at
top and bottom for suspending the tubing and lifting the tubing respectively, and
at least one control line. These dual tubing hanger bodies needs to be aligned in
one plane during installation failing which will lead to huge rig time loss during
installation of the dual tubing hanger.
OBJECT OF THE INVENTION
It is therefore an object of the invention to propose a Resting Tool for aligning
dual tubing hanger bodies with dual bores for handling tubings in offshore
drilling operation, which reduces the time for installation of the dual hanger in
wellhead.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
Accordingly, there is provided a Resting Tool having parts for handling the tubing
during installation of a dual tubing hanger. Resting Tool halves are connected
with a pin and socket for locking. Metallic handles are provided for handling of
the resting tool.
Resting Tool has a passage for tubing and handling supports which primarily
allows accurate alignment of the dual hanger bodies. The advantage of the
invention is that the resting tool maintains the dual hanger bodies in same plane
and reduces the rig time during installation in the oil well.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE ACCOMPANYING DRAWING
Figure 1 - shows a view of a Resting Tool with Dual Hanger according to the
invention.
DETAIL DESCRIPTION OF A PREFERRED EMBODIMENT OF THE
INVENTION
As shown in Figure-1, the resetting tool (01) comprises dual ports (2) to operate
two tubings during drilling operation. The resetting tool (1) is provided with two
parallely positioned grooves shaped corresponding to that of the hanger body (3)
which is also split-type. The two halves of the resetting tool (1) are connectable
by a pin and socket arrangement. A metallic handle (4) is provided on the
resetting tool (1) for easy handling. The resetting tool (1) maintains the dual
hanger bodies (3) in the same plane to reduce the rig time during installation on
the oil well.
WE CLAIM
1. A Resting Tool for aligning dual tubing hanger bodies with dual bores for
handling tubings in offshore drilling operation, comprising:
- a body constructed with two grooves shaped corresponding to that
of the hanger body halves, the tool halves upon accommodating
the hanger body halves can be locked by a pin-socket means; and
- one each metallic handle provided on the two external side of the
tool body.
ABSTRACT
The invention relates to a Resting Tool for aligning dual tubing hanger bodies
with dual bores for handling tubings in offshore drilling operation, comprising a
body constructed with two grooves shaped corresponding to that of the hanger
body halves, the tool halves upon accommodating the hanger body halves can
be locked by a pin-socket means; and one each metallic handle provided on the
two external side of the tool body.
