"A Self Learning Egr Valve For Robust Emission Control".

Abstract: The present invention relates to a system and a method for self-learning exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve for robust emission control. More particularly, the invention relates to closed loop control strategy to make the EGR system independent of variations caused by manufacturing tolerances in the EGR valve. The exhaust gas recirculation systems are used for optimizing the exhaust gas emissions on the internal combustion engine. The EGR valve controls the exhaust flow quantity depending on the operating condition of the engine. The self-learning EGR valve of the present invention makes the EGR system independent of variations caused by manufacturing tolerances. The strategy is implemented in the EGR control unit and no additional component need to be installed for its implementation.
