WE CLAIM:
1. A formulation for an effective removal of smear layer and debris of root canal in a
single irrigation, comprising:
a. a biocompatible polymer-based water-soluble form of chitosan;
b. a biocompatible base sodium p - glycerophosphate;
c. a saline sodium chloride; and
d. optionally, adding ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA) disodium salt.
2. The formulation as claimed in claim 1, wherein said water- soluble form of chitosan having a lower molecular weight of about 47.8kDa.
3. The formulation as claimed in claim 1, wherein said chitosan having a concentration of about 0.25% w/v.
4. The formulation as claimed in claim 1, wherein said sodium chloride having a concentration of about 0.9%.
5. The formulation as claimed in claim 1, wherein said EDTA disodium salt having a concentration of about 1.25% or without EDTA
6. A method for preparing a formulation for an effective removal of smear layer and debris of root canal in a single irrigation, comprising the steps of:

a. dissolving biocompatible polymer-based water-soluble form of chitosan in
acidic solutions;
b. adjusting pH of said dissolved solution in the range of 5.8 to 6.0 by adding
sodium P - glycerophosphate to said dissolved solution;
c. adding sodium chloride to said solution after said pH adjustment; and
d. optionally, adding ethylene diamine tetra acetic acid (EDTA) disodium salt to
said solution to obtain said formulation.
