Specification

The present invention relates to a smart color writing tool or pen or stylus for an interactive board. More specifically, the invention relates to a smart writing tool which allows selection of a specific color from its surroundings for writing or 5 highlighting purposes.
The present digital world has brought front the concept of electronic classrooms, leaving behind the conventional classrooms with blackboard and chalk system, and the concept of interactive meetings, presentations and conferences. These electronic classrooms, boardrooms, and auditoriums are supported by LCDs, projection systems, or electronic boards which are connected to a computer or laptop for display of information.
Conventionally, an operator or user mostly relies on the connected computer for controlling the presentation, display of information or for changing any of the settings during the presentation. This requires movement away from the presentation and the audience which causes a break in the presentation leading to distraction. The operator is usually equipped with laser pointers for discussing the information displayed, but such pointers are limited to pointing to the projection screen and cannot control the presentations.
US5782548A discloses a remote controller which comprises of a pointer and wireless controller which can control the presentation staying away from the computer. This invention was one of the first which provided some mobility to the operator.
US6346933B1 discloses an interactive display presentation system which helps the operator in underlining, zooming in, or highlighting using a laser pointer having mouse commands.

However, the advent of the electronic interactive boards bought forward the use of interactive pointing devices, writing tools, electronic pens, or styluses, or display tools. The electronic interactive boards apart from display of information can additionally be used as electronic boards for writing. Unlike the traditional whiteboards or blackboards, these interactive whiteboards have the ability to store the information written on them by transmitting it to the connected computer which can be further edited, printed, transmitted etc. via the computer. The interactive pointing devices or writing tools are also remotely connected to the computer via Wi-Fi or Bluetooth, and can typically be used as a computer mouse to manipulate objects on the display by passing the pointer over the surface of the interactive board.
An interactive class or meeting, or a work of a designer or an artist requires use of different colors for highlighting, underlining, drawing or writing purposes. A major limitation of interactive pens is their inability to change colors without intervention of the computer taskbar. This generally, requires for the operator to click several times on the task bar for selecting the color of his/her choice. This intervention is time consuming and brings brief pauses during the presentation which is further annoying to the operator and the audience. Besides, conventional interactive projection system normally supports only one writing color in the same writing region.
US9454247B2 discloses an interactive writing device with an adaptive color identification method. The interactive writing devise includes a capturing unit coupled to a processing unit. The processing unit comprises of a search region establishing unit, a color recovery unit, a tag searching unit and a display control unit. The interactive writing device is a separate unit to be installed in the interactive display system. The operator uses writing pens coded with a color tag for writing on interactive writing boards and the interactive writing device recognizes the color of the color tag of the writing pen and then imparts the recognized color into the writing pattern. However, the major limitation of this invention is the requirement of separate writing tools with separate color tags for writing.

KR101595319 discloses an electronic pen for an interactive board with pre¬selected color buttons for switching colors and a nib at the end of the pen which can vary the thickness of writing by changing the pressure.
US20160034052A1 discloses a stylus with a color input unit for using on smart phone, touch screens and laptops; wherein, the color input unit includes a circuit board, an MCU, a color sensor, a color display device, a Bluetooth module, a memory, a control interface and a power supply device respectively connected to the MCU. This invention has the ability to capture color from natural surfaces or surrounding environment and be stored as a database.
