The present disclosure, in general, relates to a snap clip for locking a clevis pin of a brake pedal in a vehicle. Moreover, the present disclosure describes a snap clip to lock a clevis pin of a brake pedal with a clevis of a master cylinder.
BACKGROUND
[0002] A brake pedal is one of the main safety components installed in a vehicle. The brake pedal is connected to a master cylinder for performing the brake operation. For establishing such connection, a brake pedal arm is connected through its clevis pin with a clevis of a master cylinder. The clevis pin is passed through an opening formed in the clevis and locked therein by insertion of a snap clip in a clevis pin hole formed at a clevis pin portion coming out of the opening of the clevis.
[0003] Due to production requirements and ease of assembly, clearance is required between the snap clip and the clevis pin hole, as well as between the clevis pin and the clevis. Because of necessary clearances in parts, i.e., the snap clip, the clevis pin hole, the clevis pin and the clevis, abnormal noise is generated during regular operation of the brake pedal. This generated abnormal noise inside a passenger compartment is undesired and can be a concern for the driver and the passenger's comfort.
[0004] To eliminate the aforementioned abnormal noise generated by the brake pedal, various solutions have been proposed in the state of the art. One of the solutions discloses the implementation of an additional dampening
material, such as rubber or plastic, in between the clearance or gap between the snap clip and the clevis pin hole, as well as between the clevis pin and the clevis. However, said implementation of the additional dampening material increases the manufacturing cost. Also, such additional dampening material is not a permanent solution as it may get disassembled after a period of time.
[0005] Therefore, there is a requirement of providing a permanent and cost effective solution to eliminate the aforementioned abnormal noise generated by the brake pedal.
