Abstract: A hybrid pumping device capable of operating using dual modes of power of Solar as well as hand pumping methods to assure 100 % water supply at all times. The dual cylinder valve assembly as well as the unitary pumping system enables the submersible pumping driven by solar power to pump water from underground from a borewell (5) as well a hand pumping device to raise the level of water to that of an over head tank located above the ground level. The pumping system is capable of being operated with borewells of diameters as small as even 100 mm and can be utilized as an all weather pump as the hand pumping system would come in handy for procuring water even on days when the availability of sunlight is on the lower side. (Fig 1)
FIELD OF INVENTION
The invention in general relates to a pumping device. More particularly, the invention relates to an integrated pumping device which operates in the dual mode by both solar power and Manual operation fitted with a dual valve in a single pipe casing to pump water from the underground for drinking purposes as well as other usage. Still particularly, this invention deals with that of a hybrid water pumping device and system to effectively procure water at all times by combining the effects of solar power as well as hand pumping methods.
BACKGROUND OF INVENTION
It is well known fact, that solar powered pumps are used to pump in water from underground and use it in places where there is no electricity.
Solar--Solar technology is very well suited to pumping water, even more so than the traditional windmill. A typical system includes one or more solar panels, an efficient 12 volt DC pump, a controller (with float switches), and a "linear current booster" (more about this later). As long as it's daytime and the float switches show that the water source is not empty and the cistern in the house is not overflowing, the pump will run. The linear current booster allows the pump to run even if it's cloudy out.
A normal water pump runs on 220 V AC (grid power or diesel generator) while a DC solar pump is supplied directly by a solar array.
Compared to a 220 V pump, the DC solar pump has a higher efficiency and lower pumping costs in the long term. A solar pump doesn't need batteries. They work permanently, from morning until sunset, so there are nearly no replacement costs.
The advantage of this solar powered water pump is that it will pump water at the rate of about 2 gallons per minute for about 8 hours during the day when the sun is shining on the solar panels and pump water into an above ground water storage tank. These pumps can be installed below the water level in a pond, river or cistern, or installed by hand into a ground water well. They can be used to fill an open tank or in pressurized water delivery systems. Simplicity is the key feature of these pumps. They are easy to install, require very little maintenance and are repairable.
But solar panels are the key for the pump to operate by using the solar energy but during incidents in which the panels get damaged by miscreants or by act of God or there is no good deal of sunlight for long days together there arises problems of not getting the desired output voltage to run the pump.
Hence it is required to address the need of providing an solution for pumping water irrespective of the solar energy and any damage and thus go in for a hydrid model of pumping system which can work on a dual mode manually on a need base.
SUMMARY OF INVENTION
The solar hybrid Pumping system is submerged in the borehole and acts as heart of the Pump. It sucks water for Hand Pump during manual operation and also allows water to flow for solar Submersible Pump from the same riser pipes.
Even in manual pumping water can be lifted overhead tank for storage. The device is made out of Stainless Steel, No flap valves are used. And it allows water for Hand Pump during manual operation as well as for Solar Submersible Pump there by reducing the cost of separate pipe line.
The inner parts are so designed to work at least for 5 years without any maintenance. Also, it must be noted that the system can be installed over a small diameter of borewell of 100 mm and above.
The dual valve cylinder assembly provided in the pumping device & system enables hybrid pumping using both solar and hand pumping methods. Also the single or unitary pipe pumping system utilized in the pumping device is capable of combining and clubbing of both submersible pumping as well as hand pumping systems to obtain the beneficial aspects of both systems.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
An embodiment of the invention provides a custom built integrated model of pumping device on a dual mode of both solar power driven and manual driven by sucking the water by the use of hand pumps fitted with a dual valve in one pipe casing to pump in water.
The hybrid system can give an instant changeover of the pumping mode from Solar to Manual and even in manual pumping water can be lifted overhead tank for storage. The valves are made out of Stainless Steel, No flap valves are used. It allows water for Hand Pump during manual operation as well as for Solar Submersible Pump there by reducing the cost of separate pipe line. The inner parts are so designed to work at least for 5 years without any maintenance.
The pumping element is being made as a separate unit and during the course of testing further invented the concept to integrate it to make it a part of the system and also reduced the dimensions and makes it compact, simple and maintenance free.
Thus, the solar hybrid pumping system utilizes a concept for performing both mode of operations by solar driven and also by using the hand pumps for manual driven and with achievement of significant energy efficiency.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE ACCOMPANYING DRAWINGS:
According to the invention as represented in the accompanying drawing 1, the submersible pump (1), fitted to a borewell of 100 mm diameter (5) is provided with an underground riser pipe (2) through which water is pumped up to the ground level and again by means of another riser pipe (3) for hand pumping it to an overhead water tank (4) which is provided with a sealing cartridge to prevent leakage of water downwards at any circumstances. The dual system of operating of the pumping device i.e., with solar power for the submersible pump upto the ground level as well as hand pumping from ground level to overhead tank enables assured water supply at all possible times without any interruption.
CLAIMS:
What is claimed is
1) A pumping device (1) to draw water driven by utilizing solar power from underground level from a water source and capable of raising up to ground level by riser pipe (2) by creating negative pressure inside and again from the ground level capable of raising the head of water to an over head tank (4) by a riser pipe (3) which is coupled to that of a hand pump for achieving an over head storage of water.

3) The pumping element of the pumping device as claimed in claim 1, has a unitary piping system for suction of water from underground to ground level (GL) and again for rising it above the ground level combining both solar and hand pumping methods.
4) The pumping device (1) as claimed in claim 1, is capable of operating continuously without any interruption ( 24 X 7) and ensuring assured supply of water at all times as it employs the dual operation of submersible pumping by solar power as well as receiprocating pumping of hand pumping
5) The pumping device as claimed in claim 1, is provided with riser pipes for lifting of water in underground level as well as above the ground level to an overhead tank (4) which is sealed by means of a cartridge device to arrest backflow of water due to gravitational effects.
6) A hybrid system for pumping water from underground source like borewell to ground level as well as raising the water from ground level to over head storage media which employs both solar power as well as hand pumping means to ensure round the clock supply of water.
7) The hybrid pumping system as claimed in claim 6, is capable of yielding water from the underground source by pumping means either driven by solar power or by hand pumping and the interchangeability of two systems at any time makes it flexible to conveniently utilize both modes of pumping means ensuring water supply at all times.
