Abstract: A spare wheel mounting assembly (2) for mounting a spare wheel (8) on the chassis. The spare wheel mounting assembly having a first bracket (3A) inclined at an angle (α). A second bracket (3B) inclined at an angle (β). A third bracket (3C) act as an interface between the second bracket and an air tank of the braking system (5). The third bracket is parallel to the vertical axis and having a uniformly varying z-cross section to cancel the effect of the inclination of second bracket. The spare wheel (8) assembled on the chassis of the vehicle through the spare wheel mounting assembly (2) in a bi-axial orientation in a limited and insufficient space. The spare wheel can be easily assembled and disassembled on the spare wheel mounting assembly.
Claims:WE CLAIM:
1. A spare-wheel mounting assembly (2) for mounting a spare wheel (8) in a bi-axial orientation in a vehicle, characterized in that said assembly (2) is located between an ad-blue tank (4) and an air tank for braking system (5) located on a chassis side member (1), said assembly (2) comprising :
- a first bracket (3A) of hat cross-section connected to the chassis side member (1), said first bracket (3A) having flanges inclined at an angle (α) with respect to a vertical axis of the chassis;
- a second bracket (3B) connected to the first bracket (3A) and inclined at an angle (β) with respect to the horizontal axis of the chassis such that on assembling the spare wheel (8) to the second bracket (3B),
• an one side of the spare wheel (8) is higher than an other side of the spare wheel (8) with respect to the vertical axis of the chassis, said spare wheel (8) being oriented at an angle (α) with respect to an axis vertical to the chassis,
• an one side of the spare wheel (8) is higher than an other side of the spare wheel (8) with respect to the horizontal axis of the chassis, said spare wheel (8) being oriented at an angle (β) with respect to an axis horizontal to the chassis;
- a third bracket (3C) acting as an interface between the second bracket (3B) and the air tank for braking system (5), said third bracket (3C) being parallel to the vertical axis of the chassis.
2. The spare-wheel mounting assembly as claimed in claim 1, wherein the third bracket (3C) has a uniformly varying z-cross section to cancel the effect of the inclination of second bracket (3B).
3. The spare-wheel mounting assembly as claimed in claim 1, wherein the one side of the spare wheel (8) with respect to the vertical axis of the chassis is a rear side of the spare wheel (8) is positioned near to a hangar bracket (7) and the other side of the spare wheel with respect to the vertical axis of the chassis is a front side of the spare wheel assembly is positioned near to a shackles (10) of the leaf spring (6), said hanger bracket (7) and the shackles (10) being located on the chassis side member (1).
4. The spare-wheel mounting assembly as claimed in claim 3, wherein the diameter of the spare wheel (8) is greater than a space available between the shackles (10) and the hangar bracket (7).
5. The spare-wheel mounting assembly as claimed in anyone of claims 1-4, wherein the one side of the spare wheel (8) with respect to the horizontal axis of the chassis is an inner side of the spare wheel (8) and the other side of the spare wheel (8) with respect to the horizontal axis of the chassis is an outer side of the spare wheel (8), said inner side is the side near to the chassis side member (1).
6. The spare-wheel mounting assembly as claimed in anyone of claims 1-5, wherein the air-tank (5) is located between the spare-wheel mounting assembly (2) and the hangar bracket (7) or any other two similar aggregates with lesser space availability to package the spare wheel (8).
7. The spare-wheel mounting assembly as claimed in anyone of claims 1-6, wherein the range of angle (β) includes angle ranging from 5 degree to 20 degrees.
8. The spare-wheel mounting assembly as claimed in anyone of claims 1-7, wherein the range of angle (α) includes angle ranging from 3 degree to 10 degrees.
9. The spare-wheel mounting assembly as claimed in anyone of claims 1-8, wherein the second bracket (3B) houses a winch mechanism for lowering and raising the spare wheel (8).
10. The spare-wheel mounting assembly as claimed in anyone of claims 3-9, wherein the front side of the spare wheel (8) is positioned below the front leaf spring (6).
