A Steel With Regulated Yield Strength To Tensile Strength Ratio And Method Of Manufacturing

Abstract: The present disclosure discloses a method for steel with regulated yield strength to tensile strength ratio. The method starts with casting a steel billet of desired composition at a first predetermined temperature, and then soaking the steel billet at second pre-determined temperature for a first predetermined time. Then the steel billet is cooled in a coolant chamber at a predetermined flow rate for a second predetermined time. The steel manufactured by this method comprises a dual-phase microstructure including ferrite microstructure of minimum 95 vol.% and pearlite microstructure of 5 vol.% and exhibits yield strength to tensile strength ratio ranging from 0.70 to 0.85.
