[0027] The following is a detailed description of embodiments of the disclosure depicted in the accompanying drawings. The embodiments are in such detail as to clearly communicate the disclosure. However, the amount of detail offered is not intended to limit the anticipated variations of embodiments; on the contrary, the intention is to cover all modifications, equivalents, and alternatives falling within the spirit and scope of the present disclosure as defined by the appended claims.
[0028] In the following description, numerous specific details are set forth in order to provide a thorough understanding of embodiments of the present invention. It will be apparent to one skilled in the art that embodiments of the present invention may be practiced without some
[0029] Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to a field of a storage assemblies of vehicles. More particularly the present disclosure relates to a simple, lightweight, cost-effective, and efficient storage assembly for vehicle interior, which has multi-functional features according to the need(s) of an occupant of the vehicle.
[0030] In an embodiment as shown in FIG. 1a and 1b, the proposed storage assembly (1000) includes a housing (100) defining a storage space (5) to store articles therein/thereon. A lid (10) for closing/opening the storage space (5) of the housing (100). A base wall (20) movably arranged inside the housing (100) from a first position (20-1) to a second position (20-2). More particularly, in the first position (20-1) the base wall (20) is arranged inside the housing (100) to configure a storage arrangement (1000-1) for storing the articles therein/thereon (as shown in FIG. 1a) and in the second position (20-2) the base wall (20) defines a flat plane along with the lid (10) to configure a tabletop arrangement (1000-2) for use as a table (as shown in FIG. 1b and 2a). The base wall (20) is a flat member which bifurcates the storage space (5) into two (substantially equal) spaces (5) as shown in figure 1a. The storage assembly (1000) is arranged on an instrument panel or central console or on an armrest of the vehicle as shown in figures 2a and 2b.
[0031] In an embodiment as shown in FIG. 1a, 1c and 2b, the lid (10) is pivotable from a close position (10-3) to a first open position (10-1) keeping/resting the base wall (20) in the first position (20-1). More particularly, the lid (10) is mechanical or electronically (not shown) connected to the base wall (20) such that upon moving the lid (10) from the first open position (10-1) to a second open position (10-2) the base wall (20) moves from the first position (20-1) to the second position (20-2).
[0032] In an embodiment, in the first open position (10-1) the lid (10) is in substantially vertical orientation or in an oblique orientation wherein the storage space (5) of the housing (100) is accessible for a user to store articles therein/thereon. In the second open position (10-2) the lid (10) is in substantially horizontal orientation along with the base wall (20) to configure the tabletop arrangement (1000-2) as shown in figures 1b and 2a.
[0033] In an embodiment as shown in FIG. 3, the lid (10) includes a pair of covers (12, 14) which are pivotally arranged (w.r.t to housing on a pivot axis “15a, 15b”) in opposite direction for closing/opening the storage space (5) of the housing (100). More particularly, the pair of covers (12, 14) includes a flip-portion (12-1, 14-1) such that in the close position (10-3) of the covers (12, 14), the flip-portion (12-1, 14-1) of each lid (10) is pivotable into the storage space (5) of the housing (100) for holding and gripping a beverage holder (50).
[0034] More particularly, the flip-portion (12-1, 14-1) is hingedly connected to the other portion (12-2, 14-2) of the cover (12, 14) such that the flip-portion (12-1, 14-1) is pivotable only in one direction that is into the storage space (5) of the housing (100). This arrangement of pivoting the flip-portion (12-1, 14-1) only in one direction enables the lid (10) to be in tabletop arrangement (1000-2) without moving/pivoting the flip-portion (12-1, 14-1) of the lid (10) when in the tabletop arrangement (1000-2).
[0035] In an embodiment as shown in FIG. 1a to 1c and 3, wherein a support member (25) is arranged at an inner surface of the housing (100) such that the base wall (20) is resting on the support member (25). More particularly, the support member (25) is vertically slidable on the inner surface of the housing (100) for example on a rail (26) (specifically arranged on a opposite vertical walls of the inner surface of the housing (100)) such that the support member (25) assist the base wall (20) to move from the first position (20-1) to the second position (20-2).
[0036] In an alternative embodiment, when the lid (10) is moved to the second open position (10-2) the occupant may manually by hand remove the base wall (20) from the support member (25) and may place it on the top of the housing (100) such that the base wall (20) defines a flat plane along with the lid (10) to configure the tabletop arrangement (1000-2).
[0037] In an embodiment, the base wall (20) is removably configured from the support member (25). To increase the storage space, the base wall (20) can be removable from the support member (25) when the lid (10) is in the first or second open position (10-1, 10-2).
[0038] Therefore, the storage assembly (1000) with improved design and structure of the present invention can provide multi-functions to an occupant of the vehicle accordingly to their needs. Specifically, the base wall (20) and the lid (10) of the storage assembly (1000) can be used as table-top and the movement of the base wall (20) may assist in cleaning the inner surface of the housing (100).
[0039] Besides, only a simple movement of the base wall (20) makes the multi-functional features simple, cost-effective, and efficient way, and allows the multi-functional features to be easily configured with any existing storage assembly (1000). The proposed invention provides a simple to use/operate various configuration of the multi-functional features of the storage assembly. The proposed invention provides a simple, light-weight, cost-effective, and efficient storage assembly. The proposed invention provides an arrangement to clean inner surface of the storage assembly.
[0040] It is to be appreciated by a person skilled in the art that while various embodiments and drawings of the present disclosure elaborate upon the use of ant mechanical or electronic arrangement to configure the storage and table-top arrangement.
[0041] Moreover, in interpreting the specification, all terms should be interpreted in the broadest possible manner consistent with the context. In particular, the terms “comprises” and “comprising” should be interpreted as referring to elements, components, or steps in a non-exclusive manner, indicating that the referenced elements, components, or steps may be present, or utilized, or combined with other elements, components, or steps that are not expressly referenced. Where the specification claims refer to at least one of something selected from the group consisting of A, B, C ….and N, the text should be interpreted as requiring only one element from the group, not A plus N, or B plus N, etc.
[0042] While the foregoing describes various embodiments of the invention, other and further embodiments of the invention may be devised without departing from the basic scope thereof. The scope of the invention is determined by the claims that follow. The invention is not limited to the described embodiments, versions or examples, which are included to enable a person having ordinary skill in the art to make and use the invention when combined with information and knowledge available to the person having ordinary skill in the art.
