The present invention relates to a motor, more particularly it relates to a
development of submersible single phase induction motor with integrated
capacitor.
Background of the invention
The single phase induction motors are not self starting inherently, it
requires auxiliary winding and/or some external means to start the motor,
and these external means may be a capacitor or switches. These switches
are costly and have complicated to design, meanwhile capacitors are easily
available and have cost effective. Hence in single phase induction motors
capacitor are most widely used to start the motor.
In surface motor capacitor can easily be implant on motor, while in
submersible motor capacitor implantation is challenging task due to
limited size of bore well, and hence it’s very difficult to implant capacitor
on a motor, and it is furthermore difficult to implant capacitor inside the
motor due to compact design.
Moreover capacitor installation outside the bore well requires additional
control panel setup and additional wire connection from controller to
motor, which increases the overall cost of the system. Many attempts have
been made to solve the above intended problem described in prior arts
below.
Such a motor with a built-in capacitor is disclosed in US5548169, Wherein
capacitor is formed into a ring so that a shaft of the motor penetrates a
centre portion of the capacitor and is disposed in the motor so that the shaft

of the motor penetrates the centre portion. The capacitor is mounted at the
same time as the motor is mounted and the mounting work of the capacitor
is easy. The external shape of the motor itself is the same as that of a
conventional motor. The whole structure of the motor is compact as
compared with the conventional motor. The motor can be applied to a
motor with a capacitor directly connected to a gear mechanism such as a
transmission.
Such a motor disclosed in US 6359353 B1, wherein a submersible motor
unit is used to drive a pump and is submerged with the pump in liquid
(water). The motor unit includes a tubular housing member and a tubular
inner member which is enclosed by and disposed in a coaxial relationship
with the tubular housing member. A stator is disposed in a stator chamber
formed between the tubular inner member and the tubular housing
member. A rotor is disposed in a rotor chamber disposed within the inner
member. End walls close opposite ends of the tubular housing member and
the tubular inner member. An annular capacitor is disposed in the stator
chamber in an axially spaced apart relationship with the stator. The
capacitor extends around the rotor chamber. A body of potting compound
is disposed in the stator chamber and at least partially encloses the stator
and the capacitor.
Such a motor disclosed in US 7215051B2, wherein a single-phase motor
(10) particularly for submersed pumps, characterized in that it comprises
an annular capacitor (14) interposed between the pump coupling head (15)
and the stator winding pack (12).

Many of these units in prior arts are workable for the purpose intended.
However, most of them are complicated from production point of view and
few of them are simple enough to be practical from a commercial
standpoint but not cost effective and hence submersible single phase
induction motor demands the scope of the invention.
Objects of the Invention
It is an object of the present invention is to provide a submersible single
