Abstract: The present subject matter relates to a detachable support structure (201) for a two-wheeled vehicle. The at least one detachable support structure (201) comprises a first end (401) including one or more holes, a second end (402) comprising one or more protrusions capable of receiving a vehicular accessory (202), and a bridge member to connect the first end (401) and the second end (402). The at least one detachable support structure (201) is disposed in the storage compartment of a two-wheeled vehicle. The at least one detachable support structure (201) is detachably attached to one or more receiving members of a pair of rear frames. One or more mounting provisions of the storage compartment are interposed between the first end (401) and the one or more receiving members. The at least one detachable support structure (201) enables simpler and compact mounting of the vehicular accessory (202) inside the storage compartment.

DESC:TECHNICAL FIELD
[0001] The present subject matter relates to a support structure for a two-wheeled vehicle. More particularly but not exclusively, the present invention relates to a support structure to hold an electrical component in the two-wheeled vehicle.
BACKGROUND
[0002] Typically, vehicle layout design for a scooter features a step-through frame and a defined space to accommodate a flat surface called as a floorboard for the rider’s feet. Further, the scooter features bodywork, including a front leg shield and body that conceals all or most of the mechanisms. Since, most of the parts in the scooter are concealed by the body, the body parts are to be designed such that optimum utilization of space in the scooter is achieved. The space provided in the storage compartment of the scooter is utilized for various purposes as per the user requirement. The same storage compartment space is adapted to accommodate various features like music system, vehicle locator, mobile charger, immobilizer etc. It is also desired by the user that the storage compartment is utilized by the user for storing articles other than helmet.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION
[00010] In a two-wheeled vehicle, the space below the seat assembly is occupied by a storage compartment for the user to store any articles/accessories as per the user requirement. In a scooter type vehicle, with space being an issue for mounting of various components in the vehicle, a number of electrical and other compact vehicular components are disposed in the storage compartment. The electrical components or any other accessories are held in the storage compartment by a rubber sleeve or any other similar mounting arrangements.
[00011] The conventional mounting arrangements to hold an electrical component or any other accessory in the storage compartment suffers from a number of disadvantages. The rubber sleeve used to hold the electrical component wears out upon prolonged usage and the electrical component is subject to continuous rattling due to vibrations in the vehicle. The efficiency of the electrical component or any other accessory held by the rubber sleeve is decreased due to continuous rattling. Hence, results in reducing the durability of the component or any other accessory.
[00012] Further, in order to prevent vibration of the electrical component or any other accessory held in the storage compartment, the storage compartment should be provided with a more stable arrangement to hold the electrical component or any other accessory. The more stable arrangement requires modifications in the structure of the storage compartment. However, modifications in the structure of the storage compartment may not be preferred in the practical scenario. Furthermore, any other arrangements made to provide stability to the accessory held in the storage compartment may reduce the storage space in the storage compartment.
[00013] Hence, a more stable arrangement to hold the electrical component or any other component in the storage compartment without major modifications in the storage compartment is most preferred.
[00014] According to an embodiment of the present invention, at least one detachable support structure is disposed in the storage compartment for holding the electrical component or any other vehicular accessory in the storage compartment. The detachable support structure comprises a first end enabling detachable attachment with the storage compartment, a second end comprising one or more protrusions capable of receiving an electrical component or a vehicular accessory, and a bridge member connecting said first end and said second end. Further, the first end comprises one or more holes enabling detachable attachment with the storage compartment. According to another embodiment of the present invention, the bridge member has a number of bent portions.
[00015] According to an embodiment of the present invention, the one or more protrusions are protruding upwards from the second end.
[00016] According to another embodiment of the present invention, the at least one detachable support structure is disposed in the storage compartment of a two-wheeled vehicle in one or more places.
[00017] According to an embodiment of the present invention, the two-wheeled vehicle includes a frame assembly comprising a pair of rear frames extending inclinedly rearward towards a vehicle rear. The pair of rear frames includes one or more receiving members that are fixedly attached. The one or more receiving members are configured to receive the at least one detachable support structure.
[00018] Further, the at least one detachable support structure is disposed such that the one or more mounting provisions are sandwiched between the first end and the one or more receiving members.
[00019] According to an embodiment of the present invention, the first end of said at least one detachable support structure is attached to the one or more receiving members by means of one or more attaching members.
[00020] According to an embodiment of the present invention, the one or more receiving members are fixedly attached to the pair of rear frames. Furthermore, the one or more receiving members are fixedly attached, for example, welded to the pair of rear frames. Furthermore, the one or more protrusions and the bridge member are configured to include a well-defined gap therebetween to comfortably accommodate at least a portion of the vehicular component.
[00021] Further, the at least one detachable support structure is made of polymers.
[00022] Further, the detachable mounting support structure can be used in the storage compartment or can be detached from the storage compartment as per the user requirement. Furthermore, the detachable mounting support structure can be used in any two-wheeled vehicle and is adapted to be mounted on any vehicular surface. The mounting arrangement of the detachable support structure in the storage compartment can be understood in detail by the following description of the accompanying figures.
[00023] Fig. 1 shows a side view of the scooter type vehicle according to an embodiment of the present invention. The vehicle has a body frame assembly made up of several tubes welded together, which usually supports the body of the said vehicle. The vehicle has a steerable front wheel 101 and a driven rear wheel 102. The body frame assembly of the vehicle is an elongated structure, which typically extends from a forward end to a rearward end of the vehicle. The frame assembly includes a head tube (not shown), a main frame and also may have a sub-frame. The sub-frame is attached to the main frame using appropriate joining mechanism. The frame assembly is covered by a plurality of vehicle body covers including a front panel 112, a rear cover 113, and one or more side panel 114.
[00024] A handlebar assembly 107 and a seat assembly 109 are supported at opposite ends of the frame assembly and a generally open area is defined there between known as floorboard 115 that functions as a step through space. The seat assembly 109 for a driver and a pillion is placed forward to a fuel tank 116 and rear side of floorboard 113. A storage compartment 110 is disposed below the seat assembly 109 for the user to store any articles/ any vehicular accessories can be mounted in the storage compartment 110. An electrical component 111 is mounted in the storage compartment 110 according to an embodiment. A front fender 103 is provided above the front wheel 101 to avoid the said vehicle and its occupants from being splashed with mud. Likewise, a rear fender 106 is placed between the fuel tank 116 and a rear wheel 102, and to the outer side in the radial direction of the rear wheel 102. Rear fender 106 inhibits rainwater or the like from being thrown up by the rear wheel 102.
[00025] Suspensions are provided for comfortable riding of the vehicle on the road. A front suspension assembly including a pair of front forks 104 is disposed on either side of the front wheel 101. The rear suspension assembly comprises of at least one rear suspension 105 preferably on the left side of the vehicle. However, a vehicle with two rear suspensions, namely on the left side and the right side is also possible. For the safety of the user and in conformance with the traffic rules, a headlight 108 in the front portion of the vehicle and a tail light in the rear portion of the vehicle is also provided.
[00026] Fig. 2 illustrates a storage compartment accommodating a vehicular accessory according to an embodiment. The storage compartment 110 is mounted to a pair of rear frames 203a and 203b. An electrical component/a vehicular accessory 111 is disposed in the storage compartment 110 with appropriate mounting arrangements made to hold the electrical component 111 firmly. The electrical component is held by at least one detachable support structure 201 (also called as support structure) in the storage compartment 110. A sleeve member 202 holds the electrical component 111. In the present embodiment, a pair of detachable support structures 201 is used to hold the electrical component 111 firmly. The electrical component 111 according to the present invention is accommodated in the storage compartment 110 without compromise in the space of the storage compartment 110. The detachable support structure 201 does not require a separate mounting arrangement to be disposed in the storage compartment 110. According to another embodiment, a compactly packed vehicular accessory can also be mounted in the storage compartment 110 using the detachable support structure 201.
[00027] Fig. 3 illustrates an exploded view of the storage compartment accommodating an electrical component according to an embodiment. The mounting arrangement of the detachable support structure 201 in the storage compartment 110 can be understood in detail from the figure. The storage compartment 110 is mounted to a pair of rear frames 203a and 203b through one or more mounting provisions 301 provided in the storage compartment 110. The storage compartment 110 is attached to one or more receiving members 204 welded to the pair of rear frames 203a and 203b. According to the present embodiment, the detachable support structure 201 is mounted to the one or more receiving members 204 through the one or more mounting provisions 301 provided in the storage compartment 110. Hence, the one or more receiving members 204 functions as a single mounting point for both the storage compartment 110 and the detachable support structure 201. The vehicular accessory 111 is held by the sleeve member 202 capable of being coupled to the detachable support structure 201.
[00028] A separate mounting arrangement is not required to accommodate the detachable support structure 201. The detachable support structure 201 can be easily mounted to the storage compartment 110 using the already existing one or more mounting provisions 301 in the storage compartment 110. The detachable support structure 201 is compact and can be accommodated in the storage compartment 110 without compromise in the storage space in the storage compartment 110.
[00029] Fig. 4 illustrates the detachable support structure holding an electrical component according to an embodiment. The detachable support structure 201 comprises of two ends: a first end 401 and a second end 402. The vehicular accessory 111 is held by the sleeve member 202 coupled to the detachable support structure 201. Any other accessories/compact vehicular components can be coupled to the detachable support structure 201. The compact vehicular components can be easily coupled to the detachable support structure mounted to the one or more receiving members 204. The coupling arrangement of the electrical component with the detachable support structure is explained as follows.
[00030] Fig. 5 illustrates an exploded view of the electrical component coupled to the detachable support structure. The first end 401 of the detachable support structure 201 is adapted to be attached to the one or more receiving members 204 through the one or more mounting provisions 301 provided in the storage compartment 110. The second end 402 is adapted to receive the sleeve member 202 holding the vehicular accessory 111. The problem of rattling noise made by the vehicular accessory due to conventional sleeve arrangement to hold the vehicular accessory is overcome according to the present invention. Further, the vibrations received by the vehicular accessory coupled to the detachable support structure 201 is reduced, hence the durability of the vehicular accessory has increased substantially. The stability of any other vehicular accessory or other compact electrical component coupled to the detachable mounting structure is ensured according to the present invention. Further, the detachable support structure 201 is easy to access in the storage compartment 110. Hence, coupling of any other component to the support structure 201 is easy compared to mounting of the electrical component as know in the art. The detachable support structure 201 and its various features are understood as follows.
[00031] Fig. 6(a) and Fig. 6(b) illustrates a detachable support structure according to an embodiment. The detachable support structure 201 comprises a first end 401 capable of being attached to the one or more receiving members 204 or any vehicular surface or to any part of a vehicular frame. The first end 401 includes one or more holes 401a that enable detachable attachment of the at least one detachable support structure with the storage compartment. The second end 402 is adapted to receive a vehicular accessory 111 held by the sleeve member 202. Further, the detachable support structure 201 comprises one or more protrusions 402a at the second end 402. Further, the first end 401 and the second end 402 are connected by a bridge member 403, wherein the bridge member is bent at various portions 201a, 201b. The vehicular accessory is coupled to the second end 402 of the detachable support structure 201 through the one or more protrusions 402a. Hence, the vehicular accessory 111 coupled to the protrusion 402a provides stability to the vehicular accessory 111 and the durability of the component increases.
[00032] Furthermore, the one or more protrusions 402a and the bridge member 403 include a well-defined gap therebetween to accommodate the vehicular accessory.
[00033] According to another embodiment, any other vehicular component capable of coupling with the detachable support structure 201 can be disposed in the storage compartment 110.
[00034] According to yet another embodiment, the support structure 201 can be permanently attached to the storage compartment 110. In this case, the storage compartment comprises the support structure as an integrated member and the support structure is not detachable.
[00035] In all of the above-mentioned embodiments, the support structure 201 enables easy access for mounting/coupling of the electrical component/any other vehicular component in the storage compartment 110. By using the same mounting arrangement used to mount the storage compartment, the support structure is mounted to the frame bracket without any difficulty. The support structure is adaptable to receive any other component including equivalent provision to receive the protrusion 402a of the support structure 201.
[00036] Although implementations for the present subject matter have been described in language specific to structural features and/or methods, it is to be understood that the present subject matter is not necessarily limited to the specific features or methods described. Rather, the specific features and methods are disclosed as exemplary implementations of the present invention.
,CLAIMS:I/We claim:
1. A detachable support structure (201) comprising a first end (401) adapted to be detachably attachable, a second end (402) comprising one or more protrusions (402a), and a bridge member (403) connecting said first end (401) and said second end (402).
2. The detachable support structure (201) as claimed in claim 1, wherein said first end comprises one or more holes (401a) enabling detachable attachment and said one or more protrusions (402a) are capable of receiving a vehicular accessory (111).
3. The detachable support structure (201) as claimed in claim 1, wherein said bridge member (403) is bent at one or more portions (201a, 201b).
4. The detachable support structure (201) as claimed in claim 1, wherein said one or more protrusions (402a) are protruding upwards from said second end (402).
5. A two-wheeled vehicle (100) comprising:
a frame assembly (203) including a pair of rear frames (203a, 203b) extending inclinedly rearward towards a vehicle rear, said pair of rear frames (203a, 203b) include one or more receiving members (204); and
a storage compartment (110) disposed in between said pair of rear frames (203a, 203b), said storage compartment (110) includes one or more mounting provisions (301) configured to align with said one or more receiving members (204),
wherein,
said storage compartment (110) includes at least one detachable support structure (201) comprising a first end (401) adapted to be detachably attachable to said one or more receiving members (204), a second end (402) including one or more protrusions (402a) capable of receiving a vehicular accessory (111), and a bridge member (403) connecting said first end (401) and said second end (402).
6. The two-wheeled vehicle (100) as claimed in claim 5, wherein said one or more mounting provisions (301) are interposed between said first end (401) and said one or more receiving members (204).
7. The two-wheeled vehicle (100) as claimed in claim 5, wherein said first end (401) is detachably attached to said one or more receiving members (204) by means of one or more attaching members (301a).
8. The two-wheeled vehicle (100) as claimed in claim 5, wherein said one or more receiving members (204) are fixedly attached to said pair of rear frames (203a, 203b).
9. The two-wheeled vehicle (100) as claimed in claim 5, wherein said one or more protrusions (402a) and said bridge member (403) include a well-defined gap (404) therebetween to accommodate at least a portion of said vehicular accessory (202).
10. The two-wheeled vehicle (100) as claimed in claim 5, wherein said at least one detachable support structure (201) is made of polymers.
