A SUSPENSION DEVICE FOR SEAT OF A VEHICLE
FIELD OF THE INVENTION
[0001] The present invention relates to a vehicle seat, and more specifically related to a suspension device for seat of a vehicle.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
[0002] Vehicles such as cars, busses, trucks, skid steer loaders, excavators, etc. uses a spring supported seat to isolate the seat occupant from vibration during vehicle operation. Such cushioning usually utilizes extension or compression springs which support the occupant's weight. On rough roads, mining roads vehicle shock and vibration is more. Drivers faces issues to drive the vehicle due to more damping. Even on highways, driver faces fatigue or may get injury due improper suspension while driving for a long time. Moreover conventional seating assemblies are often constructed based on size constraints of an interior cabin, as well as meeting design requirements due to which either the cost of the conventional seating assemblies are more or driver has to comprises on comfort due to poor suspension.
[0003] Thus, there remains a need of a suspension device for seat of a vehicle that ensure optimal seat movements while providing comfort to the driver while driving.
OBJECT OF THE INVENTION
[0004] The principal object of the embodiments herein is to provide a suspension device for a seat of a vehicle. The seat of the vehicle is mounted on rubber mounts and round bushes to move or tilt using a pivoted round bar. The rubber mount and the round bush provide displacement and acceleration of the vehicle body in a vertical direction of suspension device while the vehicle is in motion.
[0005] Another object is to provide an improved suspension device to move or tilt the seat in forming a space for luggage. The proposed design helps to reduce the cost as compared to a fully suspended seat.

[0024] Referring now to the drawings, and more particularly to FIGS. 1 through 4, where similar reference characters denote corresponding features consistently throughout the figures, there are shown preferred embodiments.
[0025] FIG. 1a illustrates a suspension device for a seat of a vehicle and FIG. 1b illustrates a rubber mount assembly, according to embodiments as disclosed herein.
[0026] The suspension device includes a rubber mount assembly (1), a round bush assembly (2), a round bar (3) (as shown in FIG. 1b), and a lock clip assembly (4). The rubber mount assembly (1) is fitted at bottom of a base of the seat at a rear side. The round bush assembly (2) is fitted at the bottom of the base of the seat at a front side. The round bar (3) for pivotally coupled to the rubber mount assembly (1) to move or tilt seat. The lock clip assembly (4) provided at the front side of the seat to lock or unlock the movement or titling of the seat. The rubber mount assembly (1) and the round bush assembly (2) provide displacement and acceleration of the vehicle body in a vertical direction of the suspension device while the vehicle is in motion. In an embodiment, the rubber mount assembly (1) and the round bush assembly (2) act as seat suspension and provide displacement in the vertical direction up to 25 mm. When the lock clip assembly is released from the front side, the seat is pivotally moved or tilted towards the rear sides on the round bar (3) forming a space for language.
[0027] The rubber mount assembly (1) includes a first rubber mount (5) connected to one end of the bottom of the base of the seat at the rear side and a second rubber mount (6) connected to another end of the bottom of the base of the seat at the rear side. The round bar (3) is pivotally connected between the first rubber mount (5) and
the second rubber mount. The rubber mount assembly (1) is designed with a profile to provide different stiffness in down and upward movement of the seat.
[0028] The round bush assembly (2) includes a first round bush (7) connected to one end of the bottom of the base of the seat at the front side and a second round bush (8) connected to one end of the bottom of the base of the seat at the front side. The rubber mount assembly (1) and the round bush assembly (2) provide cushioning in lateral and longitudinal direction.
[0029] FIG. 2 illustrates perspective view of the suspension device for seat of the vehicle, according to embodiments as disclosed herein. As shown in the FIG. 2, the seat is pivoted against on the round bar (3) and the rubber mount (5, 6). When the driver tilt the seat at rear end by releasing or unlocking the locking clip assembly (4) at the front side then then seat will move or tilt towards rear side on the round bar (3) which is fixed with rotatory mechanism on the rear side two rubber mounts (5, 6) forming the space. This space can be used for keeping the luggage. In vehicle running conditions the two rubber mounts (5, 6) connected to the bottom of the base of the seat at the rear side and the two round bushes (7, 8) acts as suspension and provide vertical displacement up to 25 mm. Also the pivot bush will provide the cushioning in lateral and longitudinal directions. The cavity into the pivot bush is designed with a profile such that it will provide different stiffness in seat down and upward movement.
[0030] FIG. 3 illustrates perspective view of the rubber mount (5, 6), according to embodiments as disclosed herein. In an embodiment, the first rubber mount (5) includes a low stiffness rubber (9), a high stiffness rubber (10) mounted over the low stiffness rubber (9), and a hole (11) to pivotally connect to the round bar (3). Similarly, the second rubber mount (6) includes a low stiffness rubber (9), a high stiffness rubber (10) mounted over the low stiffness rubber (9), and a hole (11) to pivotally connect to the round bar (3). As shown in the FIG. 3, in X, Y, Z directions,
the bush stiffness is very low which gives good ride both on the rough roads and highway. The proposed device provides highest level of stiffness to isolate high shocks and vibrations during uplift due to accident or braking. This also ensure optimum seat vertical movement resulting in continuous foot resting on Auxiliary power units (APU). The proposed suspension device improves the riding experience and reduces driver fatigue. The proposed design of the suspension device helps to reduce the cost as compared to fully suspended seat while providing comfort to the driver while driving.
[0031] FIG. 4 illustrate different stiffness points in at different angle/location of the rubber mount (5, 6). The rubber mount (5, 6) is designed with a profile to provide different stiffness in down and upward movement of the seat. As shown in the FIG. 4, BB’, CC’ having different stiffness characteristics and portion AA’ has different stiffness. AA’ indicates high stiffness portion/zone.
[0032] The foregoing description of the specific embodiments will so fully reveal the general nature of the embodiments herein that others can, by applying current knowledge, readily modify and/or adapt for various applications such specific embodiments without departing from the generic concept, and, therefore, such adaptations and modifications should and are intended to be comprehended within the meaning and range of equivalents of the disclosed embodiments.
