Abstract: A system (100) for filtration of a hydraulic fluid in a hydraulic system (1000), the hydraulic system (1000) is having a reservoir (1100).The system (100) comprises ducting (110) passing through the reservoir (1100), a pressure enhancing device (120) installed along the ducting (110), one or more filters (130) installed along the ducting (110). Further, the ducting (110) is configured to collect the hydraulic fluid from the reservoir (1100). Further, the pressure enhancing device (120) is configured to circulate the hydraulic fluid inside of the ducting (110). Further, the one or more filters (130) are configured to filter the hydraulic fluid during the circulation of the hydraulic fluid inside the ducting (110).

1. A system (100) for filtration of a hydraulic fluid in a hydraulic system (1000), the hydraulic system (1000) having a reservoir (1100), the system (100) comprising:
ducting (110) passing through the reservoir (1100);
a pressure enhancing device (120) installed along the ducting (110);
one or more filters (130) installed along the ducting (110);
wherein the ducting (110) is configured to collect the hydraulic fluid from the reservoir (1100);
wherein the pressure enhancing device (120) is configured to circulate the hydraulic fluid inside of the ducting (110);

2. The system (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the pressure enhancing device (120) is a positive displacement pump.

5. The system (100) as claimed in claim 4, wherein the pressure enhancing device (120) is powered by the energy stored in the energy storage unit (150).

7. A method (200) for filtration of a hydraulic fluid in a hydraulic system (1000), the method (200) comprising step of:
Collecting (210) the hydraulic fluid from a reservoir (1100), inside ducting;
circulating (220) the hydraulic fluid inside the ducting, by a pressure enhancing device (120); and
filtering (230) the hydraulic fluid during the circulation of the hydraulic fluid inside the ducting (110), by one or more filters (130).
8. The method (200) as claimed in claim 1, further comprising a step of generating electricity from solar energy and storing the generated electricity in an energy storage unit (150).

FIELD OF THE INVENTION
Embodiments of the present invention relate generally to hydraulic systems and more specifically to a system and a method for filtration of a hydraulic fluid in a hydraulic system.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
Kidney loop systems are known in the art that are capable of filtering a hydraulic fluid stored in a reservoir of a hydraulic system. The kidney loop systems work in offline mode and this allows in increasing life expectancies of elements in system filters of the hydraulic system. However, in order to operate in the offline mode, the kidney loop systems need to draw power from an offline power source. This leads to significant increase in costs of operation and complexity of the hydraulic system.
Therefore, in light of the discussion above, there is a need in the art for a system and a method for filtration of a hydraulic fluid in a hydraulic system, that do not suffer from above mentioned deficiencies.
OBJECT OF THE INVENTION
An aspect of the present invention discloses a system for filtration of a hydraulic fluid in a hydraulic system.
Another aspect of the present invention discloses a method for filtration of a hydraulic in a hydraulic system.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
Embodiments of the present invention aim to provide a system and a method for filtration of a hydraulic fluid in a hydraulic system. The hydraulic system uses electricity generated from solar energy to power a pressure enhancing device of an offline filtration system. This allows reduced complexity and relatively low operational costs.
According to first aspect of the present invention, there is provided a system for filtration of a hydraulic fluid in a hydraulic system, the hydraulic system having a reservoir, the system comprises ducting passing through the reservoir, a pressure enhancing device installed along the ducting, one or more filters installed along the ducting. Further, the ducting is configured to collect the hydraulic fluid from the reservoir. Further, the pressure enhancing device is configured to circulate the hydraulic fluid inside of the ducting. Further, the one or more filters are configured to filter the hydraulic fluid during the circulation of the hydraulic fluid inside the ducting.
In accordance with an embodiment of the invention, the pressure enhancing device is a positive displacement pump.
In accordance with an embodiment of the invention, the pressure enhancing device is a centrifugal compressor.
In accordance with an embodiment of the invention, the system comprises a solar panel and an energy storage unit, the solar panel being configured to generate electricity from solar energy and the energy storage unit being configured to store the generated electricity.
In accordance with an embodiment of the invention, the pressure enhancing device is powered by the energy stored in the energy storage unit.
In accordance with an embodiment of the invention, the one or more filters comprise a primary filter and a secondary filter.
According to second aspect of the present invention, there is provided a method for filtration of a hydraulic fluid in a hydraulic system, the method comprises step of collecting the hydraulic fluid from a reservoir, inside ducting, circulating the hydraulic fluid inside the ducting, by a pressure enhancing device and filtering the hydraulic fluid during the circulation of the hydraulic fluid inside the ducting, by one or more filters.
In accordance with an embodiment of the invention, the method further comprises a step of generating electricity from solar energy and storing the generated electricity in an energy storage unit.
In accordance with an embodiment of the invention the step of storing further comprises a step of powering the pressure enhancing device by the energy stored in the energy storage unit.

Referring to the drawings, the invention will now be described in more detail. Figure 1 illustrates a system (100) for filtration of a hydraulic fluid in a hydraulic system (1000), in accordance with an embodiment of the present invention. As shown in figure 1, the hydraulic system (100) includes a reservoir (1100). The reservoir (1100) is a container for holding the hydraulic fluid required to be supplied in the hydraulic system (1000). The reservoir (1100) may include a reserve to cover any losses from minor leakage and evaporation. Also, the reservoir (1100) is designed to provide space for expansion of the hydraulic fluid, permit air entrained in the hydraulic fluid to escape, and to help cool the hydraulic fluid. Additionally, reservoirs (1100) are either vented to the atmosphere or closed to the atmosphere and pressurized.
The exemplary hydraulic system (1100) to which system (100) is coupled further includes a hydraulic pump (1200) and piston-cylinder arrangement (1500). The hydraulic pump (1200) circulates the hydraulic fluid from the reservoir (1100), through control valve (1400) and actuating mechanism i.e. piston cylinder arrangement (1500) and then back to the reservoir (1100). The hydraulic system (1100) may also include a relief valve (1300) to relief any access pressure generated in the hydraulic system (1100). Further, the hydraulic system (1100) may have one or more piston cylinder arrangement (1500) to accommodate one or more equipment working on hydraulic fluids.
The system (100) for filtration of the hydraulic fluid is connected in an offline mode and does not put an additional burden on the hydraulic pump (1200). In accordance with an embodiment of the invention, the system (100) comprises ducting (110) passing through the reservoir (1100). The ducting (110) are flexible or rigid hollow tubes designed to carry hydraulic fluids from one location to another. The ducting (110) includes one of, but not limited to, pipes and hoses. The ducting (110) is made from one or a combination of many different materials. Applications mostly use nylon, polyurethane, polyethylene, PVC, or synthetic or natural rubbers, based on the environment and pressure rating needed. Additionally, ducting may be manufactured from polyethylene (LDPE and especially LLDPE). It is obvious to a skilled person that other ducting (110) materials may be used that include PTFE (Teflon), stainless steel and other metals. In accordance with an embodiment of the invention, the ducting (110) is configured to collect the hydraulic fluid from the reservoir (1100).
The system (100) further comprises a pressure enhancing device (120) installed along the ducting (110). The pressure enhancing device (120) is configured to circulate the hydraulic fluid inside of the ducting (110). In one embodiment of the invention, the pressure enhancing device (120) is a positive displacement pump. Further, the pressure enhancing device (120) moves hydraulic fluid by trapping a fixed amount and forcing that trapped volume of hydraulic fluid into the ducting (100). In one embodiment, the pressure enhancing device (120) use an expanding cavity on a suction side and a decreasing cavity on a discharge side. The hydraulic fluid flows into the pressure enhancing device (120) as the cavity on the suction side expands and the liquid flows out of the discharge as the cavity collapses. The volume is constant through each cycle of operation. In accordance with an embodiment of the invention, the pressure enhancing device (120) is a centrifugal compressor. The centrifugal compressor is adapted to transfers energy into the flow of the hydraulic fluid and raises its pressure.
The system (100) further comprises one or more filters (130) installed along the ducting (110). The one or more filters (130) are configured to filter the hydraulic fluid during the circulation of the hydraulic fluid inside the ducting (110). The one or more filters (130) protect the system (100) components from damage due to contamination of oils or other hydraulic fluid in use caused by foreign particles. The foreign particles cause damage to system (100) components as hydraulic oil is easily contaminated. Thus, maintaining a good hydraulic filtration system tends to increase the hydraulic component lifetime. Moreover, the one or more filters (130) help to remove the foreign particles and clean the oil on a continuous basis.
Further, the one or more filters (130) comprise a primary filter and a secondary filter. Also, the one or more filters (130) installed after the pressure enhancing device (120) and receiving pressure of hydraulic fluid are referred to as pressure filters and the one or more filters (130) installed before the pressure enhancing device (120) i.e. on suction line are low pressure or return line filters. In accordance with embodiment of the invention, the one or more filters (130) are one of, but not limited to, bag type filters, screen type filters and magnetic filters. It is obvious to a person skilled in the art to select the desired type of filter depending on the type of contaminants, flow rate etc. Additionally the one or more filter may include a reusable filtering media.
In accordance with an embodiment of the invention, the system (100) further includes a solar panel (140) and an energy storage unit (150). Further, the solar panel (140) is configured to generate electricity from solar energy and the energy storage unit (150) is configured to store the generated electricity. In accordance with one embodiment of the invention, the solar panel (140) is one of, but not limited to, Monocrystalline, Polycrystalline and thin film. Further, in various embodiments, the energy storage unit (150) is a rechargeable battery. In one embodiment of the invention, the energy storage is one of, but not limited to, lead–acid battery, nickel–cadmium battery, nickel–metal hydride battery and lithium-ion battery.
In accordance with an embodiment of the invention, the pressure enhancing device (120) is powered by the energy stored in the energy storage unit (150). Thus, the pressure enhancing device (120) operates through energy stored in the energy storage unit (150) from solar panel that makes it a self-reliant system and leads to reducing complexity and lowering operational costs of the system (100)
Figure 2 illustrates a method (200) for filtration of a hydraulic fluid in a hydraulic system (100), in accordance with an embodiment of the invention. The method (200) begins at step 210, by collecting the hydraulic fluid from a reservoir (100), inside ducting (110). At step 220, the hydraulic fluid is circulated inside the ducting (110), by a pressure enhancing device (120). At step 230, the hydraulic fluid is filtered during the circulation of the hydraulic fluid inside the ducting (110), by one or more filters (130).
In accordance with an embodiment of the invention, the method further comprises a step of generating electricity from solar energy using a solar panel (140) and storing the generated electricity in an energy storage unit (150).In accordance with an embodiment of the invention, the step of storing further comprises a step of powering the pressure enhancing device (120) by the energy stored in the energy storage unit (150).
The embodiments of the present invention, presented above offer a number of advantages such as, the system (100) in present invention may be coupled to a reservoir (1100) of a machine or a vehicle for filtration of hydraulic fluid. As the system (100) is a self-reliant system and work as an auxiliary filtration system to remove contaminants from the main hydraulic system of the vehicle or the machinery. Thus, system (100) allows offline filtration of hydraulic fluid when the vehicle may or may not be in running condition. The offline filtration provides sufficient time to lower down the contaminations level in the main hydraulic system of the vehicle or the machinery.
The present invention helps in enhancing the life of the main hydraulic system of the vehicle or the machinery resulting higher productivity and reliability. Further, the system (100) is working on solar energy which is available in abundance and is a green energy.
