A System And A Method For Multimultimedia Broadcast And Multicast Services

Abstract: A system and a method for multimedia broadcast and multicast services is disclosed. The method comprises determining, by a multimedia services system, at least one of type of multimedia services and number of multimedia services subscribed by each UE of a plurality of UEs. The method further comprises, creating by the multimedia services system, one or more multicast groups of UEs based on a similarity between the at least one of type of multimedia services and the number of multimedia services subscribed by the each UE. Based on the one or more multicast groups the multimedia messages may be multicast or broadcast. Fig. 3

Specification

Claims:WE CLAIM
1. A method of creating a multicast group, the method comprising:
determining, by a multimedia services system, at least one of type of multimedia services and number of multimedia services subscribed by each UE of a plurality of UEs; and
creating, by the multimedia services system, one or more multicast groups of UEs based on a similarity between the at least one of type of multimedia services and the number of multimedia services subscribed by the each UE.

2. The method of claim 1, further comprising determining at least one of a data rate associated with each of the one or more multicast groups and a resource utilization associated with each of the one or more multicast groups.

3. The method of claim 2, further comprising identifying at least one group of the one or more multicast groups having at least one of the data rate below a predefined data rate and the resource utilization below a resource utilization threshold.

4. The method of claim 3 further comprising determining a number of UEs in each of the at least one group.

5. The method of claim 4, further comprising multicasting data to the each of the at least one group when the number of UEs in the each of the at least one group is below a predefined UE number threshold.

6. The method of claim 4 further comprising broadcasting data to the each of the at least one group when the number of UEs in the each of the at least one group is above the predefined UE number threshold.

7. The method of claim 1, further comprising sending at least one of the at least one type of multimedia services and the number of multimedia services subscribed by the each UE to at least one neighboring base station during a handover.

8. A system for data cleansing, comprising:
a hardware processor; and
a memory storing instructions executable by the hardware processor for:
determining at least one of type of multimedia services and number of multimedia services subscribed by each UE of a plurality of UEs; and
creating one or more multicast groups of UEs based on a similarity between the at least one of type of multimedia services and the number of multimedia services subscribed by the each UE.

9. The system of claim 8, further comprising determining at least one of a data rate associated with each of the one or more multicast groups and a resource utilization associated with each of the one or more multicast groups.

10. The system of claim 9, further comprising identifying at least one group of the one or more multicast groups having at least one of the data rate below a predefined data rate and the resource utilization below a resource utilization threshold.

11. The system of claim 10, further comprising determining a number of UEs in each of the at least one group.

12. The system of claim 11, further comprising multicasting data to the each of the at least one group when the number of UEs in the each of the at least one group is below a predefined UE number threshold.

13. The system of claim 11, further comprising broadcasting data to the each of the at least one group when the number of UEs in the each of the at least one group is above the predefined UE number threshold.

14. The system of claim 8, further comprising sending at least one of the at least one type of multimedia services and the number of multimedia services subscribed by the each UE to at least one neighboring base station during a handover.
