FIELD OF INVENTION:
[001] The present invention relates to the field of railway vehicles door lock. The present invention in particular relates to a system and method for assembling saloon to cab door lock link assembly to enhance smooth operation and avoid failures in opening the saloon to cab door in emergency conditions.
DESCRIPTION OF THE RELATED ART:
[002] Conventionally the Saloon to cab door lock link assembly is secured with a 4mm grub screw. Due to the variations in the height between the floor and roof of the carbody, the length of the lock rod becomes more when compared to the depth of the holes provided in the top and bottom catcher. Due to this, the lock link rods get disengaged from the grub screw after repeated operations and the rods get struck in the bottom/top catcher there by not allowing the saloon to cab door to open.

[004] Patent No. US4068410 relates to a pair of laterally movable sliding doors include one door provided with a vertical hollow side frame member within which is housed a reciprocating locking bar adapted to engage a keeper mounted on the car below the door. The locking bar is reciprocated by a bell crank handle and lever arrangement which is pivotally connected to one end of a rockable link or arm supported on the door, the link including an end projecting into the side frame member for pivotal connection to the upper end of the locking bar.
[005] Patent No. US1776559 relates to improvements in car door locks for railway box cars. A pneumatic railway car door lock which is held open by the action of a spring of a predetermined tension and which is movable to a closed position by the brake pipe pressure overcoming the tension of the spring, whereby reduction of the brake pipe pressure below the spring tension will cause the lock to open to permit access to the interior of the car through the usual sliding door.
[006] Publication No. CN106088862 relates to a saloon car middle door lock body, wherein a bottom plate is arranged below a lock main body, a left push rod is arranged in front of the left part of the bottom plate, and a right push rod is arranged behind the right part of the bottom plate; the middle of the bottom surface of the bottom plate is provided with a profiled hole which is internally provided with a lock body lower cover plate, the lock body lower cover plate covers the inner cavity of the lock main body, and is connected with the lock main body by enabling a screw to penetrate through the lock body lower cover plate; a ratchet shaft penetrates through the lock body lower cover plate, a ratchet shaft sleeve, a left hook plate, an external opening rocker arm and is riveted with a lock body upper cover plate; a driving shaft penetrates through the lock body lower cover plate, a ratchet, the lock main body and a safe release arm and is riveted with the lock body upper cover plate; the ratchet shaft at the back surface of the driving shaft sequentially penetrates through a waist-shaped groove arranged in the lock main body and a right hook plate, and is inserted into an arm hole arranged in the safe release arm. The lock body provided by the invention is convenient and flexible to operate, simple, attractive, low in cost and good in quality, can realize the function of double-open and double-lock, also can be connected with an automobile center control to realize the function of double-open double-delayed locking, and has good economic benefit and social benefit by popularization and application.
[007] Publication No. CN201007141 relates to a saloon car medium door lock comprises a ratchet wheel, a pawl, and the like, wherein the left side of the surface of the lock body is provided with a ratchet wheel shaft, the ratchet wheel shaft is equipped with an external-open swinging arm, and the ratchet wheel shaft is threaded through a ratchet wheel shaft sleeve and the external-open swinging arm to rivet joint with a lock upper cover board; the right side is equipped with a transmission shaft, the transmission shaft is provided with a safety releasing arm and threaded through the pawl and the safety releasing arm to rivet joint with a lock upper cover board; the front of the transmission shaft is equipped with a restoring spring, and feet of the restoring spring are inserted on the lower end of the safety releasing arm; the pawl shaft on the back of the transmission shaft is threaded through the lock body and inserted in a hole arranged on the safety releasing arm; and the vertical external side surface of the lock upper cover board is provided with a safety arm, and one arm on the safety releasing arm is just disposed in an opening groove of the safety arm. When the safety arm is forced, the safety arm drives the safety releasing arm and the pawl shaft to turn and also drives the pawl and the ratchet wheel to separate. And when losing the external force, the lower end of the safety releasing arm is provided with the restoring spring, which makes the safety releasing arm and the pawl shaft to reset and also makes the pawl and the ratchet wheel to compound.
[008] Patent No. US7370731 relates to a device for connecting a car door with a shaft door and for emergency unlocking of a car door consists of an entrainer arranged at the car door, which entrainer detachably connects, together with a roller pair arranged at the shaft door, the car door with the shaft door, and of a first locking mechanism for locking and unlocking the car door and of a second locking mechanism for locking and unlocking the shaft door. When the doors are closed and locked the entrainer is closed and can freely move between the two rollers of the roller pair when the elevator car is traveling between two floors or past a floor not to be served. The first locking mechanism is controlled directly.
[009] Publication No. CN203064037 relates to a lock catch reinforced support and a saloon car provided with the support. The lock catch reinforced support comprises a lock catch mounting face, wherein a first turnup edge is connected with one side of the lock catch mounting face, an outer vertical face is connected with the other side of the lock catch mounting face, the upper end of the outer vertical face and the upper end of the lock catch mounting face are together provided with a first connecting face, the lower end of the outer vertical face and the lower end of the lock catch mounting face are together provided with a second connecting face, the first connecting face is further provided with a second turnup edge and a third turnup edge, the second connecting face is further provided with a fourth turnup edge and a fifth turnup edge, and the outer vertical face is further provided with a sixth turnup edge. The lock catch reinforced support can improve dynamic stiffness to a large extent, and even though other noise reduction measures are not adopted, sound quality of door closing sounds can be obviously improved.
[010] Publication No. US2019292814 relates to a lock assembly that includes a blocking member and a linkage assembly having a triangle member assembly and a bar member. The first corner of the triangle member assembly is pivotably attached to a first end of the bar member and a second end of the bar member is pivotably attached to the blocking member. The first leg of the triangle member assembly extends between the first and second corners, the second leg extends between the second and third corners and the third leg extends between the first and third corners. The lock assembly also includes a handle associated with the third corner of the triangle member assembly. Movement of the handle along a curved path from a start position to a finish position moves the blocking member between a first position and a second position. A first distance is defined between the handle and the blocking member when the blocking member is in the first position and a greater second distance is defined when the blocking member is in the second position.
[011] Publication No. EP3553263 relates to a saloon-type door assembly that includes left and right door assemblies that each include a frame adapter having a curved inner surface with a first apex, a front portion and a rear portion, a door adapter that includes a curved outer surface with a second apex a front portion and a rear portion, a door panel associated with the door adapter, at least one front hinge strip secured along a front hinge strip path, and at least one rear hinge strip that is secured along a rear hinge strip path. The front hinge strip path extends from the front portion of the curved outer surface of the door adapter to the rear portion of the curved inner surface of the frame adapter. The rear hinge strip path extends from the rear portion of the curved outer surface of the door adapter to the front portion of the curved inner surface of the frame adapter. The door panels are movable between a front open position, a closed position and a rear open position.
[012] Publication No. RU2138610 relates to mechanical engineering to make hard unauthorized penetration into saloon of automobile, additional lock has component for fastening of removable locking device which is movable and is installed for possible complete or partial withdrawal in idle position into internal space of automobile body, or to achieve same result, present lock body is secured in upper part of body on water drain trough or it can be secured on frame of rear door window. Higher efficiency.
[013] Presently, the lock link assembly of Saloon to Cab door is secured with grub screw which is insufficient to cater the variations in height of the carbody and hence the length of the lock rods. Hence a system is needed which can avoid the failure in opening the saloon to cab door in emergency conditions.
[014] In order to overcome above listed prior art, the present invention aims to provide a system and method for assembling saloon to cab door lock link assembly to enhance smooth operation and avoid failures in opening the saloon to cab door in emergency conditions.
OBJECTS OF THE INVENTION:
[015] The principal object of the present invention is to provide a system and method for saloon to cab door lock link assembly.
[016] Another object of the present invention is to provide a method for assembling saloon to cab door lock link assembly which enhances smooth operation.
[017] Another object of the present invention is to provide a method for assembling saloon to cab door lock link assembly which avoid failures in opening the saloon to cab door in emergency conditions.
SUMMARY:
[018] The present invention relates to a system and method for assembling saloon to cab door lock link assembly to enhance smooth operation and avoid failures in opening the saloon to cab door in emergency conditions. The invention pertains to the hinged double leaf doors used in railway wherein the lock assembly comprises two link rods which will move in vertical direction during locking and unlocking.
[019] In the present invention the position of the lock link rods is changed and the rods are secured in that position with screw which is good enough to take the load due to variation in the height of the carbody. The system secures the position of saloon to cab door lock link rod assembly intact so as to avoid failures in opening the saloon to cab door in emergency conditions. It facilitates smooth functioning of the Saloon to cab doors both in regular & emergency conditions.
[020] To secure the position of the Saloon to cab door lock rod link assembly, the lock rods are first positioned in such a way that both the top and bottom rods are in line with the top and bottom surface of the door. In this position, two holes are provided on the link assembly which also passes through the link rods (top & bottom). Then tap is made on both the holes and both the top and bottom lock link rods will be secured in that position with screw. This will withstand any variations in the height between the floor and the roof of the carbody.
[021] In the railway vehicles Saloon to cab door is used in between the driver cab and saloon area for driver to enter the cab from saloon area. Referring to figure 2 saloon to cab door comprises two door leaves i.e., master leaf and secondary leaf, upper catcher (1), retainer card (2), operating handle (3), handle cover (4) and lower catcher (5). Master leaf prevents passenger entry from the saloon area to the cab area when the train is in service. In the event of an emergency, provide passenger access to cab by operating the emergency handle. Master leaf will be having the locking mechanism of the door, which has to be locked on top and bottom with upper and lower catcher with rods and link assembly respectively, which will be operated with the lever at cab side.
[022] In normal situation master leaf lock can only be operate from cab side and not from saloon side. There will be an emergency access panel on master leaf. In the event of emergency which needs to be broken and one can easily unlock the door from saloon side. At saloon side, the door handle will be protected with the breakable acrylic cover.
[023] The secondary leaf permits train driver or other staff safe entry and exit between the saloon area and the cab area. It prevents passenger entry from the saloon area to the cab area when the train is in service.
[024] In normal situation, secondary leaf will be locked with Master leaf with secure locking mechanism which can be operated from Cab side without any key. Also, it can be operated from Saloon side with the help of square key only by driver and not possible to operate by passengers.
[025] In case of emergency, the locking device of secondary leaf shall be connected with the master leaf in such away that while operating of master leaf lever by breaking the emergency cover should also open the secondary leaf simultaneously with master leaf (figure 3).

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION:
[032] The present invention provides a system and method for assembling saloon to cab door lock link assembly to enhance smooth operation and avoid failures in opening the saloon to cab door in emergency conditions. The invention pertains to the hinged double leaf doors used in railway wherein the lock assembly comprises two link rods which will move in vertical direction during locking and unlocking.
[033] In the present invention the position of the lock link rods is changed and the rods are secured in that position with screw which is good enough to take the load due to variation in the height of the carbody. The system secures the position of saloon to cab door lock link rod assembly intact so as to avoid failures in opening the saloon to cab door in emergency conditions. It facilitates smooth functioning of the Saloon to cab doors both in regular & emergency conditions.
[034] To secure the position of the saloon to cab door lock rod link assembly, the lock rods are first positioned in such a way that both the top and bottom rods are in line with the top and bottom surface of the door. In this position, two holes are provided on the link assembly which also passes through the link rods (top & bottom). Then tap is made on both the holes and both the top and bottom lock link rods will be secured in that position with screw. This will withstand any variations in the height between the floor and the roof of the carbody.
[035] In the railway vehicles saloon to cab door is used in between the driver cab and saloon area for driver to enter the cab from saloon area. Referring to figure 2 saloon to cab door comprises two door leaves i.e., master leaf and secondary leaf, upper catcher (1), retainer card (2), operating handle (3), handle cover (4) and lower catcher (5). Master leaf prevents passenger entry from the saloon area to the cab area when the train is in service. In the event of an emergency, provide passenger access to cab by operating the emergency handle. Master leaf will be having the locking mechanism of the door, which has to be locked on top and bottom with upper and lower catcher with rods and link assembly respectively, which will be operated with the lever at cab side.
[036] In normal situation master leaf lock can only be operate from cab side and not from saloon side (figure 5). There will be an emergency access panel on master leaf. In the event of emergency which needs to be broken and one can easily unlock the door from saloon side. At saloon side, the door handle will be protected with the breakable acrylic cover.

[039] In case of emergency, the locking device of secondary leaf shall be connected with the master leaf in such away that while operating of master leaf lever by breaking the emergency cover should also open the secondary leaf simultaneously with master leaf (figure 3).
[040] In the present invention the position of the lock link rods is changed and the rods are secured in that position with screw M4 (figure 4) which is good enough to take the load due to variation in the height of the carbody. The system secures the position of saloon to cab door lock link rod assembly intact so as to avoid failures in opening the saloon to cab door in emergency conditions. It facilitates smooth functioning of the Saloon to cab doors both in regular & emergency conditions.

[042] Numerous modifications and adaptations of the system of the present invention will be apparent to those skilled in the art, and thus it is intended by the appended claims to cover all such modifications and adaptations which fall within the true spirit and scope of this invention.
,CLAIMS:WE CLAIM:
1. A system and method for assembling saloon to cab door lock link assembly comprises hinged double leaf doors with master leaf characterized in that an emergency access panel and secondary leaf, upper catcher (1), retainer card (2), operating handle (3), handle cover (4) and lower catcher (5) and the lock assembly characterized in that two link rods which is move in vertical direction during locking and unlocking wherein the position of the lock link rods is changed and the rods are secured in that position with M4 screw which is good enough to take the load due to variation in the height of the carbody and to secure the position of saloon to cab door lock link rod assembly intact, avoiding failures in opening the saloon to cab door in emergency conditions, facilitating smooth functioning of the saloon to cab doors both in regular & emergency conditions.
2. The system and method for assembling saloon to cab door lock link, as claimed in claim 1, wherein to secure the position of the Saloon to cab door lock rod link assembly, the lock rods are first positioned in such a way that both the top and bottom rods are in line with the top and bottom surface of the door, two holes are provided on the link assembly which also passes through the link rods (top & bottom) and then tap is made on both the holes and both the top and bottom lock link rods is secured in that position with M4 screw which withstands any variations in the height between the floor and the roof of the carbody.
3. The system and method for assembling saloon to cab door lock link, as claimed in claim 1, wherein to master leaf have the locking mechanism of the door, which has to be locked on top and bottom with upper and lower catcher with rods and link assembly which is operated with the lever at cab side.
4. The system and method for assembling saloon to cab door lock link, as claimed in claim 1, wherein in normal situation master leaf lock can only be operate from cab side and not from saloon side and in an emergency access panel on master leaf is broken and the door from saloon side is unlocked and at saloon side, the door handle is protected with the breakable acrylic cover.
5. The system and method for assembling saloon to cab door lock link, as claimed in claim 1, wherein secondary leaf permits train driver or other staff safe entry and exit between the saloon area and the cab area.
6. The system and method for assembling saloon to cab door lock link, as claimed in claim 1, wherein in normal situation, secondary leaf is locked with master leaf with secure locking mechanism which can be operated from cab side without any key.
7. The system for assembling saloon to cab door lock link, as claimed in claim 6, wherein it can be operated from saloon side with the help of square key only by driver.
8. The system and method for assembling saloon to cab door lock link, as claimed in claim 1, wherein in case of emergency, the locking device of secondary leaf is connected with the master leaf in such a way that while operating of master leaf lever by breaking the emergency cover should also open the secondary leaf simultaneously with master leaf.
