A System And Method For Determining On Board Diagnostics (Obd) Monitoring Parameters
Abstract: ABSTRACT A SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR DETERMINING ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTICS (OBD) MONITORING PARAMETERS A system and method for determining On board Diagnostic (OBD) monitoring parameters of a mechanically fueled engine with limited electronics associated therewith is disclosed. The system includes a barometric pressure sensor, a memory, a processor and a display. The barometric pressure sensor determines current barometric pressure. The memory stores lookup table data generated based on engine dynamometer testing, wherein the lookup table contains air flow measured under different combinations of barometric pressures, engine speeds, and throttle positions. The processor determines “calculated load value” based on current air flow determined by referring to look-up table data stored in the memory based on current engine speed, current barometric pressure, and peak air flow at sea level and atmospheric pressure at sea level. The display displays the determined calculated load value and “as freeze frame” information when Malfunction Indication Lamp (MIL)/ Check Engine Lamp (CEL) is illuminated due to a malfunction/fault.
