Abstract: A common-rail fuel injection system (100) for an engine is provided. The system (100) comprises a fuel pump (102) adapted to pressurize drawn fuel and discharge the fuel from common rail (104) through a plurality of the injectors (106). Further, the system (100) comprises a fuel filter (108) disposed in the return fuel line and adapted to remove foreign matters contained in the fuel discharged from the fuel pump. The system (100) further comprises fuel tank (110) connected to the fuel supply pump (102), by way of the filter (108) and adapted to accumulate the fuel at high pressure. Furthermore, the system (100) comprises a collector (112) adapted to collect return lines of the fuel supply pump (102), the common rail (104) and the injectors (106). Further, the collector (112) comprises a common outlet connecting the collector (112) to the fuel tank (110).
Claims:1. A common-rail fuel injection system (100) for an engine, comprising:
a fuel supply pump (102) adapted to pressurize drawn fuel and discharge the fuel
from common rail (104) through a plurality of the injectors (106),
a fuel filter (108) disposed in the fuel passage and adapted to remove foreign
matters contained in the fuel discharged from the fuel pump;
a fuel tank (110) connected to the fuel supply pump (102), by way of the filter
(108) and adapted to accumulate the fuel at high pressure;
characterized in that
a collector (112) adapted to collect return lines of the fuel supply pump (102), the
common rail (104) and the injectors (106), the collector (112) comprises a
common outlet connecting the collector (112) to the fuel tank (110).
2. The common-rail fuel injection system (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein said
collector (112) comprises fuel level sensor (114) adapted to determine fuel level
in the collector (112) and to ensure no or less fuel goes back to the fuel tank (110).
3. The common-rail fuel injection system (100) as claimed in claim 2, wherein said
fuel level sensor (114) further configured to send signals to an electronic control
unit ECU (116) when fuel level reaches a predetermined limit of the fuel in the
collector (112).
4. The common-rail fuel injection system (100) as claimed in claim 3, wherein on
receiving signals from the fuel level sensor (114) said ECU (116) triggers a proactive
approach by displaying an error code via dashboard, for checking backflow
circuit.
5. The common-rail fuel injection system (100) as claimed in claim 4, wherein the
pro-active approach of the ECU (116) intended to provide fast diagnosis of the
root cause for the shaft seal rings failure to avoid the shaft seal rings failure. , Description:A common-rail fuel injection system (100) for an engine is provided. The system (100)
comprises a fuel pump (102) adapted to pressurize drawn fuel and discharge the fuel
from common rail (104) through a plurality of the injectors (106). Further, the system
(100) comprises a fuel filter (108) disposed in the return fuel line and adapted to
remove foreign matters contained in the fuel discharged from the fuel pump. The
system (100) further comprises fuel tank (110) connected to the fuel supply pump
(102), by way of the filter (108) and adapted to accumulate the fuel at high pressure.
Furthermore, the system (100) comprises a collector (112) adapted to collect return
lines of the fuel supply pump (102), the common rail (104) and the injectors (106).
Further, the collector (112) comprises a common outlet connecting the collector (112)
to the fuel tank (110).
