Abstract: The present invention provide a system and method for managing LED notification light in the smart devices. The LED notification light is controlled based on a plurality of modes comprising a manual mode, an automatic mode and a fail-safe mode. The mode of operation is configured by changing the setting of the smart device or by installing an application on the smart device. The different modes are activated to disable the LED notification light in the smart device for a particular time period to save power in the smart device. The method involves checking for notification periodically during the preset time-period to notify the user by turning ON the LED notification light for a small time period. [FIG.1]
We Claim:
1. A method of managing Light Emitting Diode (LED) notification light
provided by LED indicators in a smart device, the method comprises steps
of:
navigating to a settings page on the Graphical User Interface (GUI) of the smart device by a user, and wherein the settings page is navigated to enables the user to change settings of a plurality of features including display, application, notification, network and ringtones;
navigating to a notification settings page on the GUI of the smart device by selecting notification among the plurality of features in the settings page, wherein the notification settings page is navigated to enables the user to change the setting of a plurality of types of notification comprising a beep, a vibration, a ringtone, and an LED indicator;
selecting the LED indicator among the plurality of types of notification on the notification settings page for controlling the LED notification light generated by the LED indicator;
activating any one of a manual mode and an automatic mode appearing on the GUI after selecting the LED indicator to control the LED notification light;
periodically checking the settings by a processor to identify if any one of the manual mode or automatic mode is activated, wherein the processor automatically activates a fail-safe mode when the manual mode and automatic mode is not activated; and
configuring user-defined settings based on each mode activated for managing LED notification light, and wherein the step of configuration of the user defined- setting includes configuring a time-period for disabling the LED notification light.
2. The method as claimed in claim 1, wherein the manual mode is activated
to enable the user to configure the time period by entering a start time and
end time on the GUI for disabling the LED notification light.
3. The method as claimed in claim 1, wherein the manual mode is activated to manage/control operation of the LED notification light by turning OFF the LED indicator for the preset time period configured by the user.
4. The method as claimed in claim 1, wherein the manual mode is activated to save battery power used by the LED indicator during the time period configured by the user.
5. The method as claimed in claim 1, wherein the automatic mode is activated to enable a processor in the smart device to configure a standard preset time period for disabling the LED notification light based on a system clock.
6. The method as claimed in claim 1, wherein the automatic mode is activated to manage/control the operation of the LED notification light by performing the steps of:
turning OFF the LED indicator for standard preset time period configured by the processor;
checking periodically for notifications received on the smart device by the processor;
turning ON the LED indicator for a short time period to notify the user regarding the notification received, wherein the LED notification light from the LED indicator blinks for a number of times during the short time period to notify the user; and
turning OFF the LED indicator after the short time period for one of the remaining standard preset time period and until receiving a next notification for saving the battery power of the smart device;
wherein the automatic mode is activated to prevent the user from missing a notification when the user is awake, and wherein the processor is configured to set the standard preset time period during automatic mode is performed by the processor after a deep analysis.
7. The method as claimed in claim 1, wherein on the activation of the fail¬
safe mode, the processor:
compares a system time with a network provider time, wherein the LED notification light is controlled based on the automatic mode when there is a match between the system time and the network provider time;
presents a pop up window on the GUI for correcting the system time, when there is a mismatch between the system time and the network provider time; and
enables the user to select one of the manual mode and the automatic mode when the user correct the system time, wherein the LED notification light is controlled based on the mode selected by the user.
8. The method as claimed in claim 1, wherein controlling the LED notification light through automatic mode in the fail-safe mode prevents the user from missing a notification when the user is awake, and wherein the controlling of the LED notification light through manual mode in the fail-safe mode enables to save battery power consumed by LED indicator during the time period configured by the user.
9. The method as claimed in claim 1, the method automatically triggers the fail-safe mode, when both manual mode and automatic mode are not activated.
10. The method as claimed in claim 1, further comprises installing and running an application installed in the smart device to control LED notification device.
