Specification

The invention relates to a system and method for suspension
packaging and particularly it relates to a system for suspension packaging
wherein the frame suspends a packaging box to form a suspension
5 packaging.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
[0002] Protective packaging structures are often used when an article to
be transported requires protection from physical shock, dust, dirt and
other contaminants. For or example, when shipping articles which may be
10 relatively fragile, it is often desirable to package the article inside a box to
protect the article from physical impacts to the box which may occur
during loading, transit and unloading. In addition, when shipping
sensitive electronic articles, such as computer components, it is often
desirable to protect those components from dust and dirt. Aside from the
15 shipping box itself, some additional structures are ordinarily needed to
prevent the article from being damaged by uncontrolled movement within
the box. Such additional structures have included paper or plastic
dunnage, molded plastic foams and foam filled cushions, among others.
[0003] One useful form of packaging for especially fragile articles is
20 frequently referred to as suspension packaging, examples of which is
disclosed suspension packaging; where the article is suspended between
two confronting sheets of plastic film. The sheets are usually attached to
frames which are sized to fit securely within a selected size box. The frame
includes side and end legs which may be folded away from the film so as

3
to space the film from the top or bottom of the box. The fact that the article
is not in contact with any substantially rigid surfaces protects it from
physical shock.
[0004] An alternative to suspension packaging is often referred to as
5 retention packaging. One version of retention packaging utilizes a frame
including a rigid border extending around the entire periphery of a
window opening, and side legs and end legs foldably connected to and
supporting the border. A flexible film is connected to the underside of the
border so that it extends across the window opening. An article to be
10 packaged is placed on the film, and a series of four flaps connected to the
four sides of the border are folded over the article to hold the article in
place against the film.
[0005] All of the foregoing packaging structures require side legs and end
legs to be folded away from the film for the purpose of supporting the
15 film at a position spaced from the top and bottom of the box. This is a
time‐consuming and cumbersome process which, when packaging many
thousands of articles, may have a substantial impact on employee fatigue
and overall shipping costs.
[0006] Therefore a need exists for a system and method for suspension
20 packaging for transporting goods, fragile items, etc. that overcomes the
drawbacks associated with conventional packaging systems.
OBJECT OF THE INVENTION
[0007] The main object of the present invention is to provide a system
and method for suspension packaging that provides maximum protection

4
against damage, breakage of goods, fragile items, materials, etc. during
shipping and transporting.
[0008] Another object of the present invention is to provide a system and
method for suspension packaging that absorbs the vibration and shock‐
5 isolation in all directions equally and thus avoiding damage during transit
of the packaging box.
[0009] Yet another object of the present invention is directed to save
unwanted transit damage cost or transit clam charges.
[0010] A still further object of the present invention is to provide a
10 system and method for suspension packaging that provides an efficient
design enabling the structures to be shipped in a flat configuration and
readily converted to a system configuration without sacrificing the
strength of the packaging structure so as to risk damage to the fragile
items packaged therein.
15 [0011] These and other objects will be apparent based on the disclosure
herein.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
[0012] The proposed concept of the present invention relates to a
cuboidal system made up of plurality of elongated members having
20 supporting sections with tensile springs for fix the material packing box
inside the frame of the system. The present invention comprises a
plurality of elongated members made of galvanized iron being welded at
each end of the elongated members to form a frame configured a space to

5
form within, a supporting sections, a material packaging box wherein the
material to be transported is placed, Said material packaging box is
suspended within the space of the frame, a plurality iron springs made of
galvanized iron and a double stranded mild steel wire rope. In the present
5 invention, the material packing box is suspended in the space of system
with the help of the iron springs. These iron springs isolate the material
packaging box from the direct shocks and vibrations. The elongated
members provide good strength and rigid structure. The double stranded
mild steel wire rope holds the material packaging box strongly and firmly.
10 [0013] The above and other objects and advantages of the present
invention are described here under in greater details with reference to
following accompanying non‐limiting illustrative drawings.

an article ʺcomprisingʺ (or ʺwhich comprisesʺ) components A, B, and C
5 can consist of (i.e., contain only) components A, B, and C, or can contain
not only components A, B, and C but also contain one or more other
components.
[0024] The present disclosure gives an overview of a cuboidal system
made up of iron angled strip having supporting sections with tensile
10 springs for fix the packing box inside the system. Now, referring to FIG. 1
of the drawings, it generally designates an exemplary embodiment of a
system for suspension packaging according to present invention.
[0025] Now, as shown in Fig. 1 the system for suspension packaging
comprises a frame (F) configured with a space (S) form therein and a
15 material packaging box (3) wherein the material to be transported i.e.
fragile items is placed. Said material packaging box (3) being suspended
within the space (S) of the frame (F) through iron springs (4) in the manner
as described below.
[0026] Now, as shown in Fig. 2 and 3, the frame (F) is configured as
20 essentially cuboids and for this purpose, it comprises a plurality of
elongated members (A) having first end (Aa) and second end (Ab), the
elongated members (A) rigidly connected through connecting members
(C) at their respective ends to form a space (S) within which the packaging
material box (3) is suspended in a manner described below in detail. The
25 frame (F) further comprises a plurality of supporting sections (2). Each

8
supporting section (2) is formed of supporting members (E) rigidly
secured on the elongated members (A) and provides good strength and
rigid structure. The elongated members (A), the connecting members (C)
and the supporting members (E) are preferably made of galvanized iron
5 angled strip. Further, the frame (F) may be of any desired length. Each
supporting section (2) defines connecting points (P) at the connection with
elongated members (A).
[0027] Now, Referring to FIG. 4 of the drawings, mild steel double
stranded wire ropes (5) are wrapped around the material packing box (3).
10 [0028] Now, Referring to FIG. 5 and 6 of the drawings, it shows the
attachment of iron springs (4) with the double stranded mild steel wire
rope (5) of the material packaging box (3) and the connecting point (P).
The material packaging box (3) with the double stranded mild steel wire
rope (5) is hanged within the space (S) of the frame (F) with the help of
15 attached iron springs (4) with the double stranded mild steel wire rope (5)
and the connecting points (P). A first end of the each iron springs (4) are
inserted in the mild steel double stranded wire rope (5) and a second end
of the each iron springs (4) are anchored at the connecting points (P) of the
supporting section (2).
20 [0029] A method for suspension packaging through a frame (F)
configured with a space (S) formed therein, a material packaging box (3)
being suspended within the space (S);
The method comprising following steps:

9
5
10
¾ placing the material which to be transported into the material
packaging box (3);
¾ wrapping the double stranded mild steel rope (5) around the
material packaging box (3);
¾ inserting the material packaging box (3) into the space (S) of the
frame (F);
¾ attaching a first end of the iron springs (4) with the mild steel
double stranded wire rope (5) and a second end of the iron springs
(4) at the connecting point (P);
¾ suspending the material packaging box (3) into the space (S) of the
frame (F).
[0030] During transportation, when a shock or impact acts on the system,
the material packaging box (3) tends to move. The attached iron springs
(4) to the material packaging box (3) will compress and expand which
15 creates opposite reaction force and pulls the material packaging box (3) in
backward direction. This will results in small oscillations of material
packing box (3). These oscillations are diminish in very short time as the
iron springs (4) absorb the shock and vibration energy as elastic restoring
force and it results in an oscillation of the material packing box (3). Further
20 these oscillations come to rest due to dissipation of energy. Therefore
these iron springs (4) resist shocks which provide a cushioning effect and
protect the transported goods, fragile items, materials packed in the
material packaging box (3).

10
[0031] Thus, the suspension packaging of the present invention provides
maximum protection against damage, breakage of goods, fragile items,
materials, etc. during shipping and transporting.
