CROSS-REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATIONS AND PRIORITY
[001] The present application claims priority from Indian provisional application no. 201921019869 filed on 20th May 2019.
TECHNICAL FIELD
[002] The present subject matter described herein, in general, relates to a system for lubrication of engine. More particularly, the system relates to lubrication of rocker arm of the engine.
BACKGROUND
[003] Generally, lubrication of engine components is required to avoid frictional losses, corrosion, to achieve cooling effect during operations and carry away the deposits formed due to wear and tear. Conventional lubrication systems circulate same lubricating oil between the crankshaft, bearings, connecting rod and the rocker arm. Lubrication ensures reliable operations of moving parts of engine and provides long-term stable operation.
[004] During operation of the engine, the rocker arm swings with the rotation of the valve-operating cam to open and close the intake and exhaust valves. If there is leakage of exhaust gas from the exhaust valve, the lubrication oil circulated within the rocker arm gets contaminated with the exhaust gases and because of same, contaminated oil gets circulated and the rotating engine components gets damaged. At the rocker arm, oil mist formed by the various techniques, during lubrication process, there are high chances of lubrication oil falling into crankshaft and if the rocker arm lubrication oil is carrying contaminated exhaust particle, they will damage the engine, which results into high cost repairing process.
[005] However, in existing systems the oil separation devices makes high assembly costs due to the large number of individual components and critical to assemble. If there arises high frequency of lubrication oil contamination, then the frequent regular oil replacement becomes necessary to obtain smooth operation.
[006] Hence, there is necessity of a system, which restrain the entry of rocker arm lubrication oil into engine compartment through pushrod.
SUMMARY
[007] Before the present system and method are described, it is to be understood that this application is not limited to the particular machine or an apparatus, and methodologies described, as there can be multiple possible embodiments that are not expressly illustrated in the present disclosures. It is also to be understood that the terminology used in the description is for the purpose of describing the particular versions or embodiments only, and is not intended to limit the scope of the present application. This summary is provided to introduce aspects related to a system for lubrication of rocker arm of engine and the aspects are further elaborated below in the detailed description. This summary is not intended to identify essential features of the proposed subject matter nor is it intended for use in determining or limiting the scope of the proposed subject matter.
[008] The present subject matter described herein, in general, relates to lubrication of rocker arm of the engine and its purpose is to restrict the rocker arm lubricant oil entry into engine compartment.
[009] In order to reach above-mentioned purpose of the present invention, a separate rocker arm lubrication oil tank is supplying lubrication oil to rocker arm through rocker arm lubrication nipple. The rocker arm is connected to camshaft through push rod passing through cylinder head. The conical seal is mounted around pushrod and annular space creating edges are elevated in cylinder head to get sealing effect in order to restrict the rocker arm entry into engine chamber, Because of sealing effect, the engine overhaul interval is increased.

The disclosed embodiments are merely exemplary of the disclosure, which may be embodied in various forms.
[0017] Various modifications to the embodiment will be readily apparent to those skilled in the art and the generic principles herein may be applied to other embodiments. However, one of ordinary skill in the art will readily recognize that the present disclosure is not intended to be limited to the embodiments illustrated, but is to be accorded the widest scope consistent with the principles and features described herein.
[0018] The present subject matter relates to restricting entry of the rocker arm lubrication oil in an engine (8) compartment. A conical seal (12) is provided around a push rod (14) and an annular space creating edges are elevated in order to prevent entry of the rocker arm lubricating oil in an engine (8) compartment.
[0019] Referring now to figure 1, in one aspect of present invention the pump (3) draws rocker arm lubrication oil from RALO tank (1) through suction valve (2) and the pump (3) delivers the rocker arm lubrication oil to a pressure switch (5) through discharge valve (4). By setting the pressure switch (5) and measuring the pressure reading on a pressure gauge (6), required pressure of rocker arm lubrication oil is set. The pressurized rocker arm lubrication oil is provided to the rocker arm (10), which is mounted into the cylinder head (9). The use of separate RALO tank (1) to provide rocker arm lubrication oil reduces the risk of circulation of containment oil into engine (8) compartment. Further, the RALO tank (1) collects the used rocker arm lubrication oil by another returning line. The pressure switch (5) and pressure gauge (6) is used to create pressure on rocker arm lubrication oil and measure the pressure of rocker arm lubrication oil respectively, but the person skilled in art may use pressure sensor controlled by any controller and any pressure indicator. However, a separate oil sump (7) is provided below the engine (8) in order to collect engine lubricating oil.
[0020] Now referring to figure 2, a rocker arm (10) conveys radial movement of camshaft (17) into linear movement at the valve. A rocker arm cover (11) covers the rocker arm (10). Because of camshaft (17), one end of rocker arm (10) is raised and lowered, while the other end acts on valve stem (13). The one end of push rod (14) is connected to rocker arm (10) and another is connected on a cam of camshaft (17). The camshaft is an enabler for valves operation. The push rod (14) is passing through cylinder head (9) opening. During the opening and closing operations of valve, there are chances of leakage of exhaust gas from the exhaust valve and the lubrication oil circulated within the rocker arm getting contaminated with the exhaust gases and contaminated rocker arm lubrication oil getting circulated into engine (8) compartment, which leads to damage of engine components. In order to overcome aforesaid problem conical seal (12) is configured at the opening of cylinder head (9) and around the push rod (14) such that the rocker arm lubrication oil flows over the said conical seal (12) and is drained from the rocker arm in the rocker arm cover chamber, thereby preventing entry of the rocker arm lubrication oil in the engine compartment. Further, the annular space creating edges are elevated at cylinder head (9) opening to achieve sealing effect. The conical sealing (12) shape is used to get high sealing effect, but the shape is not restricted to conical, the shape may be trapezoidal or any other suitable shape.
[0021] The gudgeon pin (15) is connecting the piston (16) to the connecting rod (18) in order to provide a bearing for the connecting rod (18) to pivot upon as the piston (16) moves. A crankshaft (19) in conjunction with the connecting rod (18) converts reciprocating motion of the piston (16) into rotational motion. A sump (7) or oil pan is mounted at the bottom of the engine (8). The sump acts as reservoir of the engine lubrication oil.
[0022] Further referring to figure 3. a rocker arm lubrication oil nipple (20) is configured within the rocker arm cover (11) in order to provide pressurized rocker arm lubrication oil to the rocker arm (10). The rocker arm lubrication oil nipple (20) is connected to the pressure switch (5). The lubrication oil passage of cylinder head (9) rocker arm space blocked by inverted cup seal or conical seal (12). Further annular space in the cylinder is blocked by elevating the edges of annular space.
