Abstract: The present invention is related to a system (200) for preserving a biological specimen. The system comprises a biological chamber (130) configured to store the biological specimen, a perfusion fluid reservoir (110) fluidly connected to the biological chamber. The perfusion fluid reservoir is configured to store perfusion fluid. The biological chamber is positioned downstream of the reservoir and the perfusion fluid is selectively supplied to the biological chamber to perform perfusion of the biological specimen. The system includes a drain plug (420) provisioned at an outlet of the biological chamber. The drain plug allows at least a portion of the perfusion fluid to drain out of the biological chamber.
