A System For Testing Dent Resistance And A Method Thereof

Abstract: Present disclosure discloses a dent resistance testing system (100) and a method thereof. Pressurized air from an air tank (2) propels a first indenter (4) to strike selectively a first specimen (5). The first specimen (5) is selectively mounted onto a first fixture (6). At least one load cell (19) mounted on the first fixture (6) measures the load applied onto the first specimen (5). At least one first linear variable differential transducer [LVDT 18] mounted with the first indenter (4) measures a displacement of the first indenter (4). A second indenter (7) is propelled by the first indenter (4) to strike a second specimen (8). The second indenter (7) is propelled only when the second specimen (8) alone is fixed onto a second fixture (9). At least one second LVDT (18) mounted with the second indenter (7) measures a displacement of the second indenter (7). Finally, denting energy is calculated by plotting the chart of load/force versus displacement.
