The words "comprising," "fitting," and "having," and other forms thereof, are intended to be equivalent in meaning and be open ended in that an item or items following any one of these words is not meant to be an exhaustive listing of such item or items or meant to be limited to only the listed item or items. Although any systems and methods similar or equivalent to those described herein can be used in the practice or testing of embodiments of the present disclosure, the exemplary, systems for welding are now described. The disclosed embodiments for the system for welding are merely exemplary of the disclosure, which may be embodied in various forms.
[0014] Various modifications to the embodiment will be readily apparent to those skilled in the art and the generic principles herein may be applied to other embodiments. However, one of ordinary skill in the art will readily recognize that the present disclosure for the system for welding is not intended to be limited to the embodiments illustrated but is to be accorded the widest scope consistent with the principles and features described herein.
[0015] Conventionally, edges of two or more surfaces of a hull may be required to be welded. The hull may be heated to a pre-requisite temperature before performing the welding. The hull may be heated by using one or more heaters. Further, the one or more heaters may be fitted on the hull using steel lugs. The steel lugs may be required to be TIG (Tungsten Insert Gas) welded on the hull. The welding of the edges of the two or more surfaces using the steel lugs may require more manpower. Further, the fitting of the one or more heaters on the steel lugs may require markings to be done on hull.
[0016] The present subject matter overcomes the above problems in the conventional art. The present subject matter does away with the utilization of the steel lugs for fitting the one or more heaters. The present subject matter discloses a system for welding. The system comprises a jig. The jig may comprise a bar. The system may further comprise a heater fitted on the bar by a plurality of fasteners. Further, the heater may comprise a heating element configured to be in contact with the two or more surfaces to be welded. The heater may perform a welding operation on edges of the two or more surfaces.
[0017] Referring now to figure 1 and figure 2. The figures 1 and 2 disclose a system 100 for welding. The system 100 comprises a heater 102, a jig 104, a bar 106, two or more surfaces (202A, 202B), a plurality of fasteners 108, and a plurality of clamps 110.
[0018] The system 100 is used to perform a welding operation on edges of the two or more surfaces (202A, 202B). The two or more surfaces (202A, 202B) may be a first surface 202A and a second surface 202B. In one embodiment, the two or more surfaces (202A, 202B) may be a part of a hull of a marine vessel. The hull may be a watertight body of the marine vessel. The hull may be required to be heated to a prerequisite temperature before performing the welding. In order to perform the heating process, the system 100 may utilize the heater 102. In one embodiment, the system 100 may comprise a plurality of heaters 102. The heater 102 may comprise a heating element, wherein the heating element may be in contact with the two or more surfaces (202A, 202B).
[0019] The system 100 may further comprise the jig 104 to hold the heater 102. In one embodiment, the jig 104 may be a mild steel structure. Further, the jig 104 may comprise the bar 106. In one embodiment, the jig 104 may comprise a first bar 106A and a second bar 106B.
[0020] In one embodiment, the first bar 106A and the second bar 106B may be a flat-type bars having a width of 5mm. Further, the first bar 106A and the second bar 106B may be supported by the plurality of clamps 110. The plurality of clamps 110 may be C-clamps. The first bar 106A and the second bar 106B may be used for fitting the heater 102. In one embodiment, the heater 102 may be fitted on the first bar 106A and the second bar 106B by the plurality of fasteners 108. The plurality of fasteners 108 may be at least one of nuts, bolts, screws, rivets, pins, hooks and the like.
[0021] Further, the figure 2 shows a gap (D) between the edges of the first surface 202A and the second surface 202B. The jig 104 may be placed adjacent to the gap (D). The heater 102 fitted on the jig 104 may perform a pre-heating of the edges of the first surface 202A and the second surface 202B for welding the gap (D) between the edges of the first surface 202A and the second surface 202B.
[0022] Referring now to figure 3. The figure 3 discloses a schematic diagram of the jig 104 integrated in the system 100 for welding.
[0023] The jig 104 integrated in the system 100 is further elaborated in the figure 3. The jig 104 with the first bar 106A and the second bar 106B may be used to fit the heater 102 by the plurality of fasteners 108. The plurality of fasteners 108 may be screwed in one or more holes shown on the first bar 106A and the second bar 106B.
[0024] Exemplary embodiments discussed above may provide certain advantages. Though not required to practice aspects of the disclosure, these advantages may include those provided by the following features.
[0025] Some embodiments of the system for welding, eliminate a requirement of steel lugs for fitting the heaters on the hull.
[0026] Some embodiments of the system for welding, enable reduction in time and manpower required in fitting the heaters for welding.
[0027] Some embodiments of the system for welding, enable a portable and compact equipment for welding edges of two or more surfaces.
