This invention relates to A system of Efficient Classroom Attendance Management through face detection mechanism.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
SN Patent number Abstract Difference
CN106228629B It registers system the invention discloses a kind of classroom-based on recognition of face; Control unit matches the facial image information of the student that attends class stored in received student's facial image information and information memory cell: if successful match, control unit obtains the physical location of above-mentioned target student by positioning unit, if the physical location of target student is within a preset range, control unit determines that target student registers success; If the physical location of target student exceeds preset range, control unit determines that target student registers unsuccessfully; If it fails to match, control unit determines that target student registers unsuccessfully, student's facial image information that information acquisition unit is sent to information collection unit and stored by the control unit, and the register information of failure of target student is sent to information collection unit. The proposed system performs the face detection operation at a regular interval while the given invention only matches the target frame once. The efficiency of the system is entirely dependent on only one condition in the given invention whereas the proposed system has provided the subsequent conditions to improve the efficiency of the system.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
This summary is provided to introduce a selection of concepts, in a simplified format, that are further described in the detailed description of the invention.
This summary is neither intended to identify key or essential inventive concepts of the invention and nor is it intended for determining the scope of the invention.
To further clarify advantages and features of the present invention, a more particular description of the invention will be rendered by reference to specific embodiments thereof, which is illustrated in the appended drawings. It is appreciated that these drawings depict only typical embodiments of the invention and are therefore not to be considered limiting of its scope. The invention will be described and explained with additional specificity and detail with the accompanying drawings.
There are many attendance management systems available that take attendance through face detection algorithms. Most of the time attendance of a student is taken by comparing his stored image from the database with the image captured by the camera installed in the classroom. Usually, this process happens once in a session. If a student is late in the classroom, even then he or she is awarded attendance for that session. This process causes redundancy. Additionally, most of the face detection is done by sending the video stream to a processing unit that is installed outside the classroom. This is another problem where input data is transferred to another location. Thereby, we propose an “Efficient Classroom attendance management through any face detection mechanism” in which an edge device, composed of a camera, processing unit etc. is installed in the classroom. This edge device regularly detects the faces of students through the live video stream, compares those with the images of students stored in the local database and sends only attendances of those students who remained present 80% of the time for a particular session.

The major benefit of the proposed system is the incorporation of computing capability inside the classroom along with the primary component ie; high definition camera. The only final outcome (Attendance list - comprised of the status of each student of the class) is shared to the ERP system via the connected networking component of the system.
The first step in the system starts with receiving a live video stream file from the camera module. This file contains the timestamp (time at which that frame is captured) against each frame. These frames are captured by computing units at regular intervals (possibly after every minute) in the form of an image.
The next step is dedicated to applying the face detection algorithm against each image captured from the previous step. In each frame, the faces of all present students are compared with the local database where the facial properties of each student are stored. The outcome of each operation contains two variables: (i) Student code of the identified student (ii) Timestamp for that frame. These two attributes are stored in a separate file which acts as an input to the next step.
In the third step, all the entries obtained from the previous step are analyzed. For a specific student, all timestamp values are searched. If the total occurrence of that student is more than 80% for all the frames, the student is considered as present and his/her attendance is marked as “Present” in the final attendance list that is being sent over the network. The rest of the students have been marked as “Absent”.
Best Method of working:
Hardware Architecture of the System
The proposed system contains essential components to perform the designated operations. These components are computing Unit (CU), Camera Module, Local Database, Network module etc.
(i) Computing Unit (CU) [101]:- This module of the system performs all the operations of the overall system. It takes a live video stream file as an input and capture frames from this file after each minute. It also maintains the record for associated time stamps along with frames so that a sequential mapping of frames can be identified. All these frames are stored in the local (temporary) database in image format. The computing unit is also responsible for applying a face detection algorithm over the stored images. The outcome of each iteration is converted into two variables datasheet by commuting unit. Finally, this sheet is analyzed by this module and the final output is stored in the local database. After each session, this file is sent to the associated attendance portal.
(ii) Camera Module [101]:- This is the primary component of the system. This module monitors the entire classroom and with the help of the computing unit, it starts its processing. A live monitoring file is generated and continuously fetched by the computing unit.
(iii) Local Database [101,102]:- This is the component of the system where the streaming file is stored. Additionally, this database also contains the captured frames, converted images and output of each operation in the form of a bivariate datasheet. A copy of the final attendance sheet for every session is also stored in the local database.
(iv) Network Module [103]:- This module is used to send the final attendance sheet in the required format to the connected gateway after the end of every session. Moreover, Any update for the system or any remote operation can be communicated through this module.
ADVANTAGES OF THE INVENTION:
1. Speed and Responsiveness
2. Usability
3. We've opted to improve face recognition for taking attendance by including a variety of new features.
