FIELD OF THE INVENTION
Disclosed herein is a new a table mountable detachable holder for firmly holding string hopper maker which can also be used for holding coconut grater. This invention relates to a noodle making machine and more specifically to a machine operative for making East Asian noodle called string hopper. BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The Idiyappam is also known as Noolputt/Nooputt/Putumayam(Malaysia) /sevai/ string hopper is a very popular Tamilnadu/kerala . it is food consisting of rice flour pressed into noodle form and then steamed. Idiyappam is culinary specialty in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Sri Lanka and southern areas of Karnataka (especially in the districts of Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Kodagu). It is also a culinary staple in Sri Lanka. The name idiyappam derives from the Tamil/Malayalam words idi? meaning 'broken down1, and appam, meaning "pancake". Pronounced as e-di- ap-pam. The dish is also, frequently, called noolappam or noolputtu from the Malayalam/Tamil/Kannada/Kodava word nool, meaning "string or thread", especially in Kodagu. In coastal areas of Karnataka it is also termed semige. It is common in Malaysia, where it is called putumayam.
It is prepared by Forming noodle-like pattern with rice flour paste before steam boiling Idiyappam.
It is made office flour or ragi flour (Finger millet flour), salt and water. It is generally served as the main course at breakfast or dinner together with a curry (potato, egg, fish or meat curry) and coconut chutney. It is served with coconut milk and sugar in Sri Lanka and in the Malabar region of Kerala. It is not usually served at lunch. In other parts of Kerala and Tamil Nadu, it is mostly eaten with spicy curries. Using wheat flour in its preparation gives it a brownish hue.

The present invention is in fact a table mountable holder for the traditional Idiyappam making machine which could hold the machine very tightly with less effort.
The traditional Idiyappam making machine is generally made of brass copper, stainless steel or even aluminum alloy. It has a cylindrical barrel to contain the dough mixture, a piston to press the dough mixture within the barrel through an extrusion disc with small holes, a ram to move the piston up and down. The machine is operated by the rotating handle and the piston will be operated simultaneously by turning the handle. However the problem with the traditional machine is that the machine has to be held in bare hands. The user must tightly hold the machine in one hand and he must rotate the handle firmly using the other hand. Much pressure is exerted on the users hand since the counter forces will be impacted on both hand. Since the dough is a semi solid substance it requires much force to extrude through the small hole in the extrusion disc. If the machine could be mounted to a table or a flat convenient space both hands could be used for turning the handle and requires only comparatively lesser effort. There is no such invention or prior art which solves the above problem. Another problem with the traditional machine is that it generally has a very smooth outer body particularly the barrel. The machine has to be held tightly in one hand by catching hold on the barrel, which is generally polished and smooth surface, which makes it strenuous effort to hold the machine. The tight holding of the Idiyappam maker itself is an unsolved problem. There is traditional method or any published invention which solves these problems.
For example A21C11/18 Extruding machines with pistons is an Idiyappam making machine. This Idiyappam making machine has a cylindrical barrel to contain the dough mixture, a piston to press the dough mixture within

the barrel through a extrusion disc with small holes, a ram to move the piston up and down, a gear system to ease the operation, a handle to operate the machine, eight gears to transfer the force, four shafts to transfer the force and rotating tray to catch the string hopper, All the above parts are mounted in a base structure and the structure will be placed on a table and hold tightly by means four suction cups. In this machine the rotating tray and the piston will be operated simultaneously by turning the handle.
From the above description of the invention itself it is discemable that it is a mechanized idiyyappam maker. The inventor merely mechanized the machine by introducing shafts, and gear system. However the above invention is not a solution for the above cited problems. The above invention is in fact a substitute for the traditional machine. But it can't be used as a simple add-on to the traditional maker. The user has to give away the traditional one and has to replace it with the above machine. However there must be solution utilizing the existing traditional maker.
Another invention A21C11/16 Extruding machines US7160098B2 String hopper making machine has a dough container removably mounted in a vertical manner in a frame. An extrusion piston is mounted on a vertical rod extending through a vertical guide channel formed in a guiding block mounted on the frame. The vertical rod is pivotally mounted to a front end of a lever arm which has a rear end pivotally mounted to a pivot arm of a pivot block rotatable relative to the frame. An elongated handle rod is mounted at a front end of the lever arm and is operative for pivoting the lever arm for moving the piston in an up and down vertical direction for mounting the dough container to the frame and for extruding the dough mixture from the dough container to form the string hopper.
The above invention is also a mechanized extruding machine and does not answer the problems of the traditional idiyappam maker.

Yet another invention A21C11/18 Extruding machines with pistons CA2463240C String hopper making machine has a dough container removably mounted in a vertical manner in a frame.
There are several machines for grating the coconut flesh particularly table mountable hand operated grating machines. The traditional hand operated grating machines is nothing but a table mountable stand on which a grating blade is nailed or screwed. In a traditional household in East Asia a user have keep both the coconut grater and an iddiyappam maker in their kitchen simultaneously, which is space consuming. The problem could be solved if the common elements are drawn together and a single desktop mountable machine is made. However no such two in one machine is known in the traditional art.
For example Coconut grater A47J25/00 Devices for coring fruit US2190105A relates to graters, and its general object is to provide a rotar grater that is primarily designed for grating or shredding coconut meat before it is removed from the shell, in that the grater includes a motor operated grating tool having a relatively long shank, with toothed grating blades fixed to the outer end portion of the shank for disposal within an opening in the nut, and the nut is held and moved 10 relative to the blades for the latter to act upon the meat, with the result it will be seen that the entire meat contents of the shell can be

removed from the wall thereof in a grated condition, with minimum effort on the part of the user.
The above invention is also an extension of the traditional knowledge or a mechanization of known coconut grater. It does not provide for the two in one purpose which achieved in the present invention.
SUMMMARY OF THE INVENTION
It is the principal object of the present invention to provide a traditional string hopper making machine, a holder which is easy to operate and to reduce the strain in holding the machine in one hand and rotating the holder with the other.
In a traditional machine the machine has to be held in bare hands. The user must tightly hold the machine in one hand and he must rotate the handle firmly using the other hand. Much pressure is exerted on the users hand since the counter forces will be impacted on both hand. The machine has to be held tightly in one hand by catching hold on the barrel, which is generally polished and smooth surface, which makes it strenuous effort to hold the machine. The tight holding of the Idiyappam maker is the problem for which a solution is sought in the invention.
It is another object of the present invention to provide single apparatus for holding coconut grater and an iddiyappam maker which is space saving.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
Other objects and advantages of the present invention will become apparent from the following detailed description of the preferred embodiments thereof in connection with the accompanying drawings in which Figure 1&2 shows the shape configuration of the modified coconut gaiter blade suited to the new invention. The coconut grater blade is mounted to a square pipe connector. The connector has a flattened surface where the blade is fixed and square shape on the other side. The Figure No-3 shows the prospective view of the modified

grater blade. The figure no. 4 shows the novel aspect of the invention. Novelty lies in the shape and configuration of the string hopper holder. At the one side it has a tightening screw with a flat knob. The holder assembly is primarily square shaped which in its inside contains a hexagonal cavity. The other side of tightening screw is fitted to a semi hexagonal grip or a CV Shaped grip. Once the traditional string hopper machine made of brass or aluminum is placed inside the assembly and the screw is tightened the V Shaped grip pushes the machine to the other semi hexagonal wall of the assembly. When the knob is tightened well the machine will be firmly held inside the cavity of the holder assembly. The assembly has the Knob on one side and a square pipe connector on the other side. The figure no.5 and 6 shows various views of mainframe or the table mountable assembly. On the top of it the there is square cavity where the coconut grater assembly or the string hopper making machine could fitted alternatively. Thus the common main frame saves space and utility.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS
With reference to the drawings wherein like corresponding parts in the several views, the string hopper machine of the present invention has a generally C-shaped frame. It has the screw arrangement at the lower bas to mount the main frame to the table.
The frame has a front extension square shaped connector cavity where in either the coconut grater assembly or the string hopper assembly could be connected. A reinforcing screw with a flat nob is mounted on the bottom of the square shaped connector vertically so that once the connector of the assembly is inserted and the knob is tightened the assembly will be mounted more rigidly. The machine may be securely mounted to a supporting surface such as a table top with the ordinary screw arrangement as best shown in Figure 5.
The string hopper holder assembly has to be fitted tightly in a horizontal so that the machine will be in a vertical position. Once the flat knob mounted to

the screw in the string hopper holder assembly is tightened the V shaped plate provided extending horizontally from screw will push the machine to the inner hexagonal wall of the machine. The applicant claims novelty in the hexagonal inner cavity and the V shapped plate. Since a hexagonal inner cavity is adopted, once the knob is tightened the pressure is exerted at 8 different points of contact, where as if a circular inner cavity is adopted the pressure will be exerted only at two or three points and results in lesser grip.
The string hopper making machine is removably mounted at the upper connecting opening of the main frame.
Thus the present invention a traditional string hopper making machine, a holder which is easy to operate and to reduce the strain in holding the machine in one hand and rotating the holder with the other. The present invention is only intended to be relating to the traditional cylindrical hand operated string hopper maker.
The traditional machine has to be held in bare hands. The tight holding of the Idiyappam maker is solved in this invention since the barrel of the traditional maker could be firmly held in the newly invented holder.
The new invention also provide a main frame for holding coconut grater and an iddiyappam maker which is space saving.
While the preferred embodiments of the invention have been described above, it will be recognized and understood that various modifications may be made therein and the appended claims are intended to cover all such modifications which may fall within the spirit and scope of the invention.
