Abstract: ABSTRACT “A TAMPER EVIDENT LABEL WITH MULTI-LAYERED SUBSTRATE FEATURE” A tamper evident label (100) with multi-layered substrate feature, comprising of a paper layer (1), a metalized hologram layer (2), a release liner layer (3), wherein said paper layer (1) and said metalized hologram layer (2) are divided a plurality of strips, said plurality of strips of metalized hologram layer (2) and said paper layer (1) are arranged alternatively to form a combination layer (4), said combination layer (4) is applied with an adhesive layer on back of said combination layer (4), release liner layer (3) is provided at back of said combination layer (4) of metalized hologram layer (2) and paper layer (1) to protect adhesive layer and combination layer (4) along with release liner layer (3) is slit into single pieces to form tamper evident label (1) providing security and anti-counterfeiting feature through said combination layer (4) of metalized hologram layer (2) and paper layer (1). Description:FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to the field of tamper proof labels. More particularly, the present invention is directed towards a tamper evident label with multi-layered substrate feature which effectively protects brands and/or products against counterfeiters by providing a combination layer of metalized hologram layer and paper layer.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The labels on products play a vital role in protecting the brand and its value. The labels on products enable the customers to verify the authenticity of product belonging to a particular genuine brands in order to gain the trust of customers and keeping intact the reputation of the well established brands, thus labelling of products helps in bypassing brand erosion. The selling of inferior counterfeit products causes customers to lose their trust in the genuine item and it also affects the profits generated by the genuine brands due to sale of the counterfeit products.
The counterfeiting of the products causes various serious concerns due to a rise in unsatisfied consumers and complaints, which in turn results in negative publicity of the genuine brands. Moreover, the counterfeit products result in various health issues. For instance, a poor consumable good may produce adverse side effects that can cause significant physical damage as well as harmful health side effects.
A tamper evident label can help in resolving the problem of counterfeiting of the products but at present the tamper evident labels are made up of different materials such as foils, different layers based label with hot adhesive used in between the layers, paper based labels or other alike labels. The paper based label provides the hologram having less brightness and it fails to include all the hologram based security features. Similarly, the available tamper evident labels fail to provide complete security feature in one label. Therefore, this creates huge problem for big brands to save their genuine brands and prevent counterfeiting of their genuine products.
US5629093A provides a transparent multilayer film comprising a cover layer, a destructible or irreversibly deformable layer, respectively, a pattern of adhesion-regulating material between the cover layer and the damageable layer, and an adhesive layer for bonding with a substrate. The damageable layer has a thickness of at least 10 μm. The following relationship applies to the cohesive strength as well as the adhesion between the layers a and d>c>b whereby a is the adhesive strength between cover layer and layer in the areas where no adhesion-regulating material is present, b is the adhesive strength between cover layer and layer, in the areas where adhesion-regulating material is present, c is the cohesive strength of layer, and d is the adhesive strength between layer and adhesive layer. The cited invention also provides for the use of the transparent multilayer film for protection of data on documents, as well as its use as a tamper-proof label. Also, it provides for a tamperproof document or label, comprising a multilayer film of the present invention. The main drawback of this invention is the use of pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA) or a hot-melt adhesive in between layers as these adhesives limit the use of labels. The use of hot melt adhesive to substrates which are sensitive to higher temperatures can result in loss of bond strength at higher temperatures as adhesive melts completely at higher temperatures.
US4608288A provides a label or seal, which consists of a transparent base foil having an adhesive layer on one side. An intermediate layer or film is applied to the side having the adhesive layer, adhesion between the base foil and the intermediate layer being decreased in some regions. A cover foil is provided which, with its adhesive layer, is laminated onto the other side of the base foil. The cover foil is irreversibly stretchable under tension and/or easily breakable. Further, a safety rim is formed by a portion of the cover foil which extends past the periphery of the base foil. The main drawback of this invention is the use of foil as labels, as the foil labels are not durable in comparison with other material such as polyester and foil labels possess low tensile strength, thermal instability at higher temperatures and weak tear and abrasion resistance.
Therefore, there exists a need to provide a tamper evident label with multi-layered substrate feature with double protection through combination of layers, which provides added security and authentication to products as well as the genuine brands and protects the genuine brands and products from the counterfeiters.
OBJECT OF THE INVENTION
The main object of the present invention is to provide a tamper evident label with multi-layered substrate feature with a combination of metalized hologram layer and paper layer.
Another object of the present invention is to provide a tamper evident label with multi-layered substrate feature with metalized hologram layer which includes a plurality of features such as 2D, 3D, dot matrix, image matrix beam mastering system, UV embossing system and alike.
Yet another object of the present invention is to provide a tamper evident label with multi-layered substrate feature with paper layer which includes features of Offset printing, flexographic, Intaglio printing, Inkjet, laser or any kind of printing.
Yet another object of the present invention is to provide a tamper evident label with multi-layered substrate feature with double protection through use of a tamper proof combination layer of paper layer and metalized hologram layer.
Yet another object of the present invention is to provide a tamper evident label with multi-layered substrate feature that cannot be counterfeited.
Yet another object of the present invention is to provide a tamper evident label with multi-layered substrate feature that is flexible, versatile and easily verified.
Still another object of the present invention is to provide a tamper evident label with multi-layered substrate feature that provides easy verification, high speed, automatic and manual application.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a tamper evident label with multi-layered substrate feature which effectively protects brands and/or products against counterfeiters by providing a combination of metalized hologram layer and paper layer.
In an embodiment, the present invention provides a tamper evident label with multi-layered substrate feature, comprising of a paper layer, a metalized hologram layer, a release liner layer, wherein said paper layer and said metalized hologram layer are divided into a plurality of strips, said plurality of strips of metalized hologram layer and said paper layer are arranged alternatively to form a combination layer, said combination layer is applied with an adhesive layer on back of said combination layer, said release liner layer is provided at back of said combination layer of said metalized hologram layer and said paper layer to protect said adhesive layer and said combination layer along with release liner layer is slit into single pieces to form said tamper evident label which provides security and anti-counterfeiting feature through said combination layer of said metalized hologram layer and said paper layer.
In another embodiment, the present invention provides a method for manufacturing a tamper evident label with multi-layered substrate feature comprising steps of (a) preparing an artwork based on the requirement of users, (b) incorporating a plurality of offset printing security features into an offset plate, (c) printing a plurality of offset printing security features on a paper layer, (d) preparing a plurality of intaglio plates, (e) printing a security feature and a corresponding image on said paper layer using said plurality of intaglio plates in an intaglio printer, (f) removing said paper layer through a die cutting machine, (g) peeling and shredding said paper layer to obtain a plurality of strips of paper layer, (h) manufacturing a metalized hologram layer, (i) slitting said metalized hologram layer to obtain a plurality of strips of said metalized hologram layer, (j) separating said plurality of strips of said metalized hologram layer from silicon liner, (k) transferring said plurality of strips of said metalized hologram layer on a strip removed area obtained after peeling and shredding of said paper layer in step (g) through pasting on to said strip removed area and applying pressure for bonding to obtain said tamper evident label made up of a combination layer of said paper layer and said metalized hologram layer, (l) punching and shaping said tamper evident label and cutting unwanted portion to obtain a plurality of rolls of said tamper evident label, (m) slitting said plurality of rolls to form a smaller roll according to the requirement of number of said tamper evident label in each roll and (n) checking the quality of a plurality of tamper evident label to ensure high quality, security and tamper proofing of said plurality of tamper evident label.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
The present invention will now be described hereinafter with reference to the accompanying drawings in which a preferred embodiment of the invention is shown. This invention may, however, be embodied in many different forms and should not be construed as being limited to the embodiment set forth herein. Rather, the embodiment is provided so that this disclosure will be thorough, and will fully convey the scope of the invention to those skilled in the art.
Many aspects of the invention can be better understood with references made to the drawings below. The components in the drawings are not necessarily drawn to scale. Instead, emphasis is placed upon clearly illustrating the components of the present invention. Moreover, like reference numerals designate corresponding parts through the several views in the drawings. Before explaining at least one embodiment of the invention, it is to be understood that the embodiments of the invention are not limited in their application to the details of construction and to the arrangement of the components set forth in the following description or illustrated in the drawings. The embodiments of the invention are capable of being practiced and carried out in various ways. In addition, the phraseology and terminology employed herein are for the purpose of description and should not be regarded as limiting.
The present invention provides a tamper evident label with multi-layered substrate feature which effectively protects brands and/or products against counterfeiters by providing a combination layer of metalized hologram layer and paper layer.
According to main embodiment, the present invention provides a tamper evident label with multi-layered substrate feature, comprising of a paper layer, a metalized hologram layer, a release liner layer, wherein said paper layer and said metalized hologram layer are divided into a plurality of strips, said plurality of strips of metalized hologram layer and said paper layer are arranged alternatively to form a combination layer, said combination layer is applied with an adhesive layer on back of said combination layer, said release liner layer is provided at back of said combination layer of said metalized hologram layer and said paper layer to protect said adhesive layer and said combination layer along with release liner layer is slit into single pieces to form said tamper evident label which provides security and anti-counterfeiting feature through said combination layer of said metalized hologram layer and said paper layer.
According to another embodiment, the present invention provides a method for manufacturing a tamper evident label with multi-layered substrate feature comprising steps of (a) preparing an artwork based on the requirement of users, (b) incorporating a plurality of offset printing security features into an offset plate, (c) printing a plurality of offset printing security features on a paper layer, (d) preparing a plurality of intaglio plates, (e) printing a security feature and a corresponding image on said paper layer using said plurality of intaglio plates in an intaglio printer, (f) removing said paper layer through a die cutting machine, (g) peeling and shredding said paper layer to obtain a plurality of strips of paper layer, (h) manufacturing a metalized hologram layer, (i) slitting said metalized hologram layer to obtain a plurality of strips of said metalized hologram layer, (j) separating said plurality of strips of said metalized hologram layer from silicon liner, (k) transferring said plurality of strips of said metalized hologram layer on a strip removed area obtained after peeling and shredding of said paper layer in step (g) through pasting on to said strip removed area and applying pressure for bonding to obtain said tamper evident label made up of a combination layer of said paper layer and said metalized hologram layer, (l) punching and shaping said tamper evident label and cutting unwanted portion to obtain a plurality of rolls of said tamper evident label, (m) slitting said plurality of rolls to form a smaller roll according to the requirement of number of said tamper evident label in each roll and (n) checking the quality of a plurality of tamper evident label to ensure high quality, security and tamper proofing of said plurality of tamper evident label.
According to another embodiment, the present invention provides that the metalized hologram layer is a polyester layer. The combination layer of said metalized hologram layer and said paper layer is dispensed at high speeds, said paper layer has specification lying within the range 100-200 grams per square meter (GSM) and said paper layer having plurality of filmic materials of any micron, said metalized hologram layer has thickness lying within the range of 25 - 45 microns and said tamper evident label is flexible, versatile and provides high speed, automatic, manual application and verification easily.
According to another embodiment, the present invention provides that the tamper evident label with multi-layered-substrate feature is embedded with a plurality of security features to ensure anti-counterfeiting of said label and retaining appearance and texture of said label. The offset plate is prepared through a computer-to-plate machine, which differentiates print areas and non-print areas of said offset plate and said plurality of offset printing security features are printed on said paper layer through said offset plate. The intaglio security feature and the corresponding image are printed on said paper layer through said intaglio plate.
Referring to Figure 1, a perspective view of strips removal of said paper layer is depicted. The plurality of offset printing security features is printed on the paper layer (1). A security feature and a corresponding image are printed on said paper layer (1) using said plurality of intaglio plates in an intaglio printer. Thereafter, the paper layer (1) is removed through a die cutting machine. A plurality of strips of paper layer (1) is obtained by peeling and shredding said paper layer (1). The paper layer (1) is divided into a plurality of strips. The paper layer (1) has specification lying within the range 100-200 grams per square meter (GSM) and the paper layer (1) having plurality of filmic materials of any micron.
Referring to Figure 2, a perspective view of transfer of metalized hologram layer on paper layer to form combination layer is depicted. The metalized hologram layer (2) is divided into a plurality of strips, wherein said metalized hologram layer (2) is a polyester layer. The plurality of strips of said metalized hologram layer (2) is separated from silicon liner. The plurality of strips of said metalized hologram layer (2) is transferred on a strip removed area, which is obtained after peeling and shredding of said paper layer (1) through pasting on to said strip removed area and applying pressure for bonding to obtain said tamper evident label (100) made up of said paper layer (1) and said metalized hologram layer (2).
Referring to Figure 3(a) and Figure 3(b) a side view and an exploded view of a tamper evident label with multi-layered substrate feature is depicted. The plurality of strips of metalized hologram layer (2) and said paper layer (1) are arranged alternatively to form a combination layer (4). The combination layer (4) is applied with an adhesive layer on back of said combination layer (4). The release liner layer (3) is provided at back of said combination layer (4) of said metalized hologram layer (2) and said paper layer (1) to protect said adhesive layer. The combination layer (4) along with the release liner layer (3) is slit into single pieces to form said tamper evident label (1) which provides security and anti-counterfeiting feature through said combination layer (4) of the metalized hologram layer (2) and the paper layer (1). The tamper evident label (100) is made up of a combination layer (4) of said paper layer (1) and said metalized hologram layer (2).
Referring to Figure 4 a top view of a tamper evident label with multi-layered substrate feature is depicted. The tamper evident label (100) is punched and shaped by cutting unwanted portion to obtain a plurality of rolls of said tamper evident label (100). The plurality of rolls is slit to form a smaller roll according to the requirement of number of said tamper evident label (100) in each roll and the quality of a plurality of tamper evident label (100) is checked to ensure high quality, security and tamper proofing of said plurality of tamper evident label (100). The combination layer (4) of said metalized hologram layer (2) and said paper layer (1) along with release liner layer (3) is dispensed at high speeds, that ranges from 350 to 550 metres per minute. The tamper evident label (100) is embedded with a plurality of security features to ensure anti-counterfeiting of said tamper evident label (100) and retaining appearance and texture of said tamper evident label (100).
The present invention provides a tamper evident label with multi-layered substrate feature which effectively protects brands and/or products against counterfeiters by providing a combination layer of metalized hologram layer and paper layer. Additionally, in the existing tamper proof labels, paper based labels are provided with the hologram having less brightness and it fails to include all the hologram based security features and the existing tamper evident labels fail to provide complete security feature in one label. Hence, in the present invention the tamper evident label with multi-layered-substrate feature is embedded with a plurality of security features to ensure anti-counterfeiting of said label and retaining appearance and texture of said label.

We claim:
1. A tamper evident label (100) with multi-layered substrate feature, comprising:
a paper layer (1);
a metalized hologram layer (2);
a release liner layer (3);
wherein:
said paper layer (1) and said metalized hologram layer (2) are divided into a plurality of strips;
said plurality of strips of metalized hologram layer (2) and said paper layer (1) are arranged alternatively to form a combination layer (4);
said combination layer (4) is applied with an adhesive layer on back of said combination layer (4);
said release liner layer (3) is provided at back of said combination layer (4) of said metalized hologram layer (2) and said paper layer (1) to protect said adhesive layer; and
said combination layer (4) along with said release liner layer (3) is slit into single pieces to form said tamper evident label (1) which provides security and anti-counterfeiting feature through said combination layer (4) of said metalized hologram layer (2) and said paper layer (1).
2. The tamper evident label (100) with multi-layered substrate feature as claimed in claim 1, wherein said metalized hologram layer (2) is a polyester layer.
3. The tamper evident label (100) with multi-layered substrate feature as claimed in claim 1, wherein said combination layer (4) of said metalized hologram layer (2) and said paper layer (1) is dispensed at high speeds that ranges from 350 to 550 metres per minute.
4. The tamper evident label (100) with multi-layered substrate feature as claimed in claim 1, wherein said paper layer (1) has specification lying within the range 40 to 300 grams per square meter (GSM) and said paper layer (1) having plurality of filmic materials of any micron.
5. The tamper evident label (100) with multi-layered substrate feature as claimed in claim 1, wherein said metalized hologram layer (2) has thickness lying within the range of 12 - 100 microns.
6. The tamper evident label (100) with multi-layered substrate feature as claimed in claim 1, wherein said tamper evident label (100) is flexible, versatile and provides high speed, automatic and manual application and easy verification.
7. A method for manufacturing a tamper evident label (100) with multi-layered substrate feature comprising steps of:
a) preparing an artwork based on the requirement of users;
b) incorporating a plurality of offset printing security features into an offset plate;
c) printing a plurality of offset printing security features on a paper layer (1);
d) preparing a plurality of intaglio plates;
e) printing a security feature and a corresponding image on said paper layer (1) using said plurality of intaglio plates in an intaglio printer;
f) removing said paper layer (1) through a die cutting machine;
g) peeling and shredding said paper layer (1) to obtain a plurality of strips of paper layer (1);
h) manufacturing a metalized hologram layer (2);
i) slitting said metalized hologram layer (2) to obtain a plurality of strips of said metalized hologram layer (2);
j) separating said plurality of strips of said metalized hologram layer (2) from silicon liner;
k) transferring said plurality of strips of said metalized hologram layer (2) on a strip removed area obtained after peeling and shredding of said paper layer (1) in step (g) through pasting on to said strip removed area and applying pressure for bonding to obtain said tamper evident label (100) made up of a combination layer (4) of said paper layer (1) and said metalized hologram layer (2);
l) punching and shaping said tamper evident label (100) and cutting unwanted portion to obtain a plurality of rolls of said tamper evident label (100);
m) slitting said plurality of rolls to form a smaller roll according to the requirement of number of said tamper evident label (100) in each roll; and
n) checking the quality of a plurality of tamper evident label to ensure high quality, security and tamper proofing of said plurality of tamper evident label.
8. The method for manufacturing a tamper evident label (100) with multi-layered substrate feature as claimed in claim 7, wherein said tamper evident label (100) is embedded with a plurality of security features to ensure anti-counterfeiting of said tamper evident label (100) and retaining appearance and texture of said tamper evident label (100).
9. The method for manufacturing a tamper evident label (100) with multi-layered substrate feature as claimed in claim 7, wherein said offset plate is prepared through a computer-to-plate machine, which differentiates print areas and non-print areas of said offset plate.
10. The method for manufacturing a tamper evident label (100) with multi-layered substrate feature as claimed in claim 7, wherein said plurality of offset printing security features are printed on said paper layer (1) through said offset plate.
11. The method for manufacturing a tamper evident label (100) with multi-layered substrate feature as claimed in claim 7, wherein said intaglio security feature and the corresponding image are printed on said paper layer (1) through said intaglio plate.
