Abstract: A tamper proof seal for LPG cylinder valve, which comprises of atleast two hollow inner contours provided with inner raised edge and protruding edges.
FIELD OF INVENTION
This invention relates to a tamper proof seal for LPG cylinder valve.
PRIOR ART
Liquified Petroleum Gas (LPG) is commonly used for cooking purposes. The gas is available in cylinders. The cylinder has a valve & a safety cap on it. The safety cap has a lock wire & a thread attached to the lock wire. The thread is pulled to open the safety cap. Conventional cylinders have an aluminum/PVC shrink wrapping seal crimped on the safety cap 8& the valve.
Pilferage of gas is a very common phenomenon that exists for a very long time, which leads to a very bad reputation of the company as well as the brand image of the product. Generally crimped Aluminum seal/PVC shrink wrapping is used for LPG cylinder valve, which can be tampered for pilferage easily, re-crimped again & can not be distinguished. As a result customers may get cylinders having poor quality and/or lesser quantity of LPG.
Hence, to prevent the same, a tamper proof seal is required. The present invention is directed towards the same, which has been described herein after.
OBJECTS OF THE INVENTION
The primary object of the present invention is to propose a tamper proof seal for LPG cylinder valve to prevent pilferage during transportation between the bottling plant & distributor's godown and the distributor's godown & the customer premises.
Another object of the present invention is to build confidence in customer's mind that correct quantity & quality of LPG is being supplied to them.
Still another object of the present invention is to provide a rigid tamper proof seal which breaks or deforms visibly on any effort made to pilfer/open.
At the outset of the description that follows, it is to be understood that the ensuing description only illustrates a particular form of this invention. However, such a particular form is only an exemplary embodiment and is not intended to be taken restrictively to imply any limitation on the scope of the present invention.
STATEMENT OF INVENTION
According to this invention there is provided a tamper proof seal for LPG cylinder valve, characterized in that atleast two hollow inner contours provided with a lock body at one end and locking legs at other end wherein said locking legs are fitted into the lock body, the seal is disposed with inner raised edge to fit the seal just below the safety cap fitted on the cylinder valve and protruding edges to fix the safety cap in one position.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE ACCOMPANYING DRAWINGS
Further objects and advantages of this invention will be more apparent from the ensuing descriptions when read in conjunction with the accompanying drawings and wherein:
Fig. 1 shows top view of the present invention. Fig. 2 shows front view of the present invention.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
Reference is made to figure 1, which shows an exemplary embodiment of the present invention, without restricting the scope of the invention to the same.
According to the invention, there is provided a tamper proof seal for LPG cylinder valve.
The tamper proof seal is a moulded component made of for example: plastic, which has atleast two hollow inner contours 1 and 1A. The inner contour of the component is such that on locking, it fits over the safety cap fitted on the cylinder valve. The component has a weak link (5) between the two hollow inner contours. The component fits over the safety cap such that the weak link folding edge (5) is diametrically opposite to the locking edge. The weak link at the folding edge is used to break the seal, in case any pilferage is tried. The inner contour has integrally moulded lock body (2) on the open side and locking legs (3) spreading
outwards, which can fit into the lock body. The hollow lock cavity (6) is provided inside the lock body, which is moulded integrally by placing an insert in the die before moulding the component. The locking legs 3 flex inwards when they are pushed into the hollow lock cavity 6. The locking legs (LL) 3 flex outwards when the locking legs pass beyond the inner circular edge of the insert. On regaining their original position, the locking legs 3 can not be pulled out of the lock body as locking legs expand sideways beyond the inner diameter of the inner circular edge of the insert, The seal is provided with inner raised edge (4) to fit the seal perfectly just below the safety cap. The inner raised edge grips the safety cap thread and prevents gap between TP seal body and brass body of valve below lower edge of safety cap. Further, the seal comprises protruding edges (7) to fix the safety cap in one position so that the TP seal can' not be rotated on the safety cap. The moulded raised, edges prevent lock ring of safety cap from expansion. Normally, the seal can be broken with the help of string provided on the safety cap or some '"external tool. However, a broken seal cannot be used again. The inner contour of the seal is made according to the outer shape of the valve with safety cap and its outer contour can be of any shape.
The seal covers the safety cap fitted on the cylinder valve for protection and safety. It is a book type open component. Once the seal is fitted and locked, can not be opened again, unless broken by the customer to draw gas through the valve. The lock has to be broken to remove the said seal.
BENEFITS
Company
Filled and empty cylinders are easily distinguishable at the plants.
DISTRIBUTORS
Filled & empty cylinders are easily distinguishable in the godown. No chance of Pilferage in between the production unit & the consumer by middle men like transporters, delivery men etc. Better marketing strategy.
WE CLAIM:
1. A tamper proof seal for LPG cylinder valve, characterized in that atleast two hollow inner contours (1 and 1A) provided with a lock body (2) at one end and locking legs (3) at other end wherein said locking legs are fitted into the lock body, the seal is disposed with inner raised edge (4) to fit the seal just below the safety cap fitted on the cylinder valve and protruding edges (7) to fix the safety cap in one position.
2. A.tamper proof seal as claimed in claim 1 wherein the two contours are connected through a folding edge (5).
3. A tamper proof seal as claimed in claim 1 wherein the lock body (2) is provided with a hollow lock cavity (6).
4. A tamper proof seal as claimed in claim 1 wherein the lock body is provided on the open side of the hollow inner contour.
5. A tamper proof seal as claimed in claim 4 wherein the locking legs are provided on the open side of another contour.
6. A tamper proof seal for LPG cylinder valve substantially as herein described with reference to accompanying drawings.
