A Test Rig For Determining Characteristics Of A Gas Film Thrust Bearing
Abstract: The present disclosure discloses a test rig (100) for determining characteristics of a gas-film thrust bearing (1). The test rig (100) includes a housing (2) and a rotatable shaft (4) disposed within the housing (2). A support mechanism (6) is supported in the housing and disposed around the rotatable shaft (4). A plurality of sensors (10) are positioned proximal to the gas-film thrust bearing (1) to sense reaction forces and displacement of the gas-film thrust bearing (1). A ball joint connector (11) is connected to the gas-film thrust bearing (1) opposite to the rotatable shaft (4). A loading mechanism (17) is supported in the housing and connected to the ball joint connector (11), to selectively apply an axial load on the gas-film thrust bearing (1). The sensors are configured to sense reaction forces and displacement of the gas-film thrust bearing (1) to determine characteristics of the gas-film thrust bearing (1).
