FIELD OF THE INVENTION
This invention relates to a testing device for simultaneously testing the dimensions of a plurality of profiles of a work piece.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
Dimensions of all the profiles of a mechanical work piece having irregular shape and size are required to be tested for size checks before being assembled into its target device. Usually, dimension, such as length, of each profile of the work piece is measured separately and turn by turn using a dial indicator. The free end of a spindle of the dial indicator engages with the profile at appropriate point depending upon the dimension of the profile to be measured. Thereafter, the measured value is manually compared to a reference value. Base on the result of the comparison(s), the work piece is either accepted or rejected. Such a technique of measuring the dimensions of each profile of the work piece separately and turn by turn and subsequently comparing it with a reference value is time consuming, requires skilled labour and prone to error.
