Specification

FIELD OF INVENTION
The invention generally relates to a wind turbine component and more particularly to a wind
.,turbine nacelle cover structure.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
According to an embodiment of the invention, a thermal insulated wind turbine nacelle cover arrangement is disclosed. The thermal insulated nacelle cover may include an arrangement for trapping air within the nacelle cover. The entrapped air within the nacelle cover may enable the nacelle to maintain an operating temperature for the components housed inside the nacelle. The nacelle cover may include at least one corrugated layer. The corrugated layer may have a plurality of grooves for holding the air within the nacelle cover. The nacelle cover may further include at least one projection on an intemal face of the nacelle cover. The projection may be moulded along with the nacelle cover. The projection may include at least one provision for fastening the nacelle cover on a support structure.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DRAWINGS
Other objects, features, and advantages of the invention will be apparent from the following description when read with reference to the accompanying drawings. In the drawings, wherein like reference numerals denote corresponding parts throughout the several views:
Figure 1 illustrates an isometric view of a wind turbine nacelle according to an exemplary
embócliment óf the invéntïöri. '

Figure 2 illustrates an isometric view of a nacelle cover according to an exemplary embodiment of the invention.
Figure 3 illustrates a side view of the nacelle cover arrangement according to an exemplary embodiment of the invention.
Figure 4 illustrates a front view of the nacelle cover arrangement according to an embodiment of the invention.
Figure 5 illustrates a cross sectional view of the nacelle cover arrangement according to an embodiment of the invention.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF DRAWINGS
The following description with reference to the accompanying drawings is provided to assist in a comprehensive understanding of exemplary embodiments. It includes various specific details to assist in that understanding but these are to be regarded as merely exemplary. Accordingly, those of ordinary skilled in the art will recognize that various changes and modifications of the embodiments described herein can be made without departing from the scope and spirit of the invention. In addition, descriptions of well-known fiinctions and constructions are omitted for clarity and conciseness.
Figure 1 illustrates an isometric view of a wind turbine nacelle according to an exemplary
émboclimënf of the invention;" Thé nacelle along with a rotor and a hiïb may be mounted on the

top of a high-altitude tower. The nacelle may protect the power generation components of a wind turbine. The power generation components housed within the nacelle may be components such as, but not limited to, a generator, gearbox, drive train, main shaft, brake assembly, conyerters,.transformers etc. The. nacelle may be fortned by assembling aplurality of nacelle .;„,.Mir., covers together. According to an embodiment, the nacelle may be substantially cuboidal in shape. It will be apparent to a person skilled in the art that the shape of the nacelle may vary depending to the requirement and feasibility of the wind turbine. The nacelle may further have an opening at a front end for attaching a rotor to the nacelle and a provision for entering into the nacelle for servicing the power generation components.
Figure 2 illustrates an isometric view of a nacelle cover according to an exemplary embodiment of the invention. The nacelle cover may have a thermal insulation arrangement. According to an embodiment, the thermal insulation arrangement may be achieved by having at least one corrugated layer in the nacelle cover. The corrugated layer may be provided throughout the surface of the nacelle cover. The corrugated layer may have a plurality of ridges and grooves. The grooves of the corrugated layer may have trapped air within the nacelle cover. The trapped air may enable the nacelle to maintain a suitable temperature within the nacelle and effective working of the components. The trapped air may be further replaced by gases in alone or combination to provide the required climate within the nacelle. The pattern of the corrugated layer may further enhance the strength of the nacelle cover. According to another embodiment, the layer within the nacelle cover may be of any pattern such as but not limited to a cylindrical pattern, honeycomb pattern or any suitable pattern known in the art. The nacelle cover may be made of composite materials, the composite material being a combination of a resin and a fibre
glass. The resin may be an epoxy and the fibre glass may be of any types such as UD fibre
glassfbiax fibre glassT trial fibre glass etc. The dimensions of the layer within the nacelle cover

may depend on factors such as, but not limited to, size of the nacelle cover, air gap within the nacelle cover, size of the nacelle, strength of the nacelle etc.
. Figure 3, Figure 4 and.Figure 5 illustrates a side view, a front view, and a cross-sectionaLview of the nacelle cover according to an exemplary embodiment of the invention. The nacelle cover may include at least one projection on the internal face of the nacelle cover. According to an embodiment, the projections may be moulded perpendicular to the surface of the nacelle cover. According to another embodiment, the projection may be separately attached to the surface of the nacelle cover by an adhesive. The support structure may be formed of materials such as, but not limited to metals, alloys etc. Each of the nacelle covers may be fastened to a support structure to form the nacelle. The support structure may provide strength and durability to the nacelle. Each of the nacelle covers may be arranged on the support structure in such a way that the projection of the nacelle cover positions adjacent to the support structure. The projections of the nacelle cover may include a provision for fastening the nacelle cover to the support structure. According to an embodiment, the provision may be at least one or more holes. The nacelle cover may be fastened to the support structure by fastening means such as, but not limited to, bolting, riveting etc.
It is understood that the above description is intended to be illustrative, and not restrictive. Il is intended to cover all alternatives, modifications and equivalents as may be included within the spirit and scope of the invention as defined in the appended claims. Many other embodiments will be apparent to those of skill in the art upon reviewing the above description. The scope of the invention should, therefore, be determined with reference to the appended claims, along with the fiill scope of equivalents to which such claims are entitled. In the

appended claims, the terms "including" and "in which" are used as the plain-English equivalents of the respective terms "comprising" and "wherein," respectively.
