The first pressing element (102) and the second pressing element (104) are adapted to be moved by said actuator (P) and said first pressing element (102) presses the throttle rod grommet (G) onto the dashboard (D) during operation of the actuator (P).
[001]The embodiments herein relate to a tool and a method for pressing a throttle rod grommet onto a dashboard of a vehicle.
BACKGROUND
[002] Agricultural vehicles such as tractors and other similar vehicles are primarily used in agricultural field operations. In agricultural vehicles, a throttle rod grommet is used to hold a throttle rod in a desired position. Usually, the operator inserts the throttle rod grommet onto the throttle rod and presses it on a dashboard of the vehicle. Pressing the throttle rod grommet manually on the dashboard is difficult as the lower portion of the grommet is not fitted with required force for proper fitting. Further, manually pressing the throttle rod grommet results in fatigue of the operator. Thus, the operator uses a mallet to hammer the throttle rod grommet onto the dashboard thereby inserting the throttle rod grommet in the opening provided in the dashboard. Sometimes, hammering the throttle rod grommet onto the dashboard may result in dent in dashboard which is undesirable.
[003] Therefore, there exists a need for a tool for pressing a throttle rod grommet onto a dashboard of a vehicle, which obviates the aforementioned drawbacks. Further, there exists a need for a method for pressing a throttle rod grommet onto a dashboard of a vehicle, which obviates the aforementioned drawbacks.

[0014] Fig. 1 depicts a perspective view of a tool (100) for pressing a throttle rod grommet (G) on a dashboard (D) of a vehicle. Fig. 2 depicts a cross-sectional view of the tool (100), according to the embodiment as disclosed herein. The tool (100) is used to press the throttle rod grommet (G) onto the dashboard (D). The throttle rod grommet (G) is used to hold a throttle rod (T) of the vehicle at a desired position. In an embodiment, the tool (100) includes a first pressing element (102), a second pressing element (104) and a locking pin (106). For the purpose of this description and ease of understanding, the tool (100) is moved by an actuator (P, as shown in fig. 3) to press the throttle rod grommet (G) onto the dashboard
(D) of an agricultural vehicle to maintain the throttle rod (T) of the vehicle in a desired position. It is also within the scope of the embodiment herein to use the tool (100) to press any other grommet or any other fastener according to the requirement in the vehicle. The first pressing element (102) is operatively engaged with the throttle rod grommet (G) to press the throttle rod grommet (G) onto the dashboard (D). The first pressing element (102) is made of a non-metallic material. For example, the first pressing element (102) is made of nylon. It is also within the scope of the embodiment herein to provide the first pressing element (102) to be made of any other material without otherwise deterring the intended function of the first pressing element (102) as can be deduced from the description and corresponding drawings. The first pressing element (102) defines an elongated slot (102S) adapted to receive corresponding portion of a throttle rod (T) to mount the tool (100) onto the throttle rod grommet (G). The elongated slot (102S) of the first pressing element (102) substantially defines a C shape configuration. It is also within the scope of the invention to provide the elongated slot (102S) of the tool (100) in any other shape according corresponding shape of the throttle rod (T) without otherwise deterring the intended function of the of the first pressing element (102) as can be deduced from the description and corresponding drawings. The second pressing element (104) is connected to the first pressing element (102) and operatively engaged with the actuator (P) to press the throttle rod grommet (G) onto the dashboard (D). The second pressing element (104) is made of a metallic material. The second pressing element (104) is a tool bit for an actuator (P). For the purpose of this description and ease of understanding, the actuator (P) is at least a pneumatic gun which moves the first pressing element (102) and the second pressing element (104) to press the throttle rod grommet (G) onto the dashboard (D) of the vehicle. It is also within the scope of the embodiment to provide a hydraulic gun or any
other actuators for moving the tool (100) to press the throttle rod grommet
(G) onto the dashboard (D) without otherwise deterring the intended
function of the toll (100) and the actuator (P) as can be deduced from the
description and corresponding drawings. The locking pin (106) is used to
5 secure the second pressing element (104) with the first pressing element
(102).
[0015] The first pressing element (102) and the second pressing
element (104) are adapted to be moved by said actuator (P) and said first
pressing element (102) presses the throttle rod grommet (G) onto the
10 dashboard (D) during operation of the actuator (P).
[0016] Fig. 2 depicts a flowchart showing the steps of a method
(200) for pressing a throttle rod grommet (G) onto a dashboard (D) of a
vehicle, according to an embodiment as disclosed herein. In an
embodiment, the method (200) includes, engaging the throttle rod grommet
15 (G) with the dashboard (D) by inserting the throttle rod grommet (G) onto a
throttle rod (T) (step 202), engaging a first pressing element (102) of a tool (100) with the throttle rod grommet (G) (step 204), engaging a second pressing element (104) of the tool (100) with an actuator (P), (step 206) and pressing the throttle rod grommet (G) onto the dash board (D) by moving
20 the first pressing element (102) and the second pressing element (104)
through the actuator (P). The method step (204) of engaging a first pressing element (102) of a tool (100) with the throttle rod grommet (G) comprises, providing the first pressing element (102) with an elongated slot (102S) adapted to receive corresponding portion of a throttle rod (T) to
25 mount the tool (100) onto the throttle rod grommet (G).
[0017] The working of the tool (100) in conjunction with the method (200) for pressing the throttle rod grommet (G) onto the dashboard (D) is as follows. The operator inserts the throttle rod grommet (G) onto
6/11
the throttle rod (T) and engages the throttle rod grommet (G) with the dashboard (D). Thereafter, the operator engages the first pressing element (102) of the tool (100) onto the throttle rod grommet (G). Then, the operator engages the actuator (P) with the second pressing element (104) of the tool (100) and operates the actuator (P) which moves the first pressing element (102) and the second pressing element (104) towards the throttle rod grommet (G), and the first pressing element (102) presses the throttle rod grommet (G) onto the dashboard (D).
[0018] Therefore, a tool (100) and a method (200) for pressing a throttle rod grommet (G) onto a dashboard (D) of a vehicle are provided.
[0019] The foregoing description of the specific embodiments will so fully reveal the general nature of the embodiments herein that others can, by applying current knowledge, readily modify and/or adapt for various applications such specific embodiments without departing from the generic concept, and, therefore, such adaptations and modifications should and are intended to be comprehended within the meaning and range of equivalents of the disclosed embodiments. It is to be understood that the phraseology or terminology employed herein is for the purpose of description and not of limitation. Therefore, while the embodiments herein have been described in terms of embodiments, those skilled in the art will recognize that the embodiments herein can be practiced with modification within the spirit and scope of the embodiments as described herein.
